As a new moth-er, this was a fantastic watch for me, so thank you. From species ID, little facts to the actual handling, i've learned loads. I look forward to the next instalment!

Great video John and Robbie, beautifully shot. We've been putting the moth trap out in our garden every 2 weeks for the past 2 months and found a very similar list of species. Moths are just incredible! Thanks.

Many thanks to you John and all involved. An amazing video and I can quite see what you mean about the Prominents, gorgeous Moths for certain. I haven't done any mothing for a couple of years, mostly due to losing a couple here and there which I hated, especially when the local group had the attitude "oh well you're bound to, but don't worry, it's natural"! It put me right off mothing. Any advice would be so appreciated.

I’m afraid your local group was right! I’ve been mothing for decades and I still lose more than a few, but it’s really not that important. Unless you watch the trap all night, you will have no idea how many you actually ‘lose’. Perhaps if the loss of a few moths upsets you that much, mothing isn’t for you, but that would be a great shame and I would certainly encourage you to have another go.

@@cranefly23 Thanks so much for your reply Perry, but I just couldn’t bear it and gave the trap away a few weeks ago. I’ll still enjoy seeing and photographing a few as and when I find them. Many thanks to you.

I saw a big moth in my trap. I do not know which species is it.
