AMAZING now I completely understand the purpose of wheel fairings. Their weight penalty is soundly eclipsed by their resultant reduction in aerodynamic drag. I would like to see, using the Professor's 3-D smoke tunnel, how wing vortex generators function to decrease stall speed.

'Blunt' va a ser 'romo', 'chato'; en los ríos, al llegar al final de su recorrido, con menos pendiente, el flujo se hace más lento, y salen meandros. Al pasar el aire sobre el perfil del ala, parece que la resistencia frenaría la velocidad del aire en la capa límite, surgiendo los vortices, remolinos. Los 'perfiles laminares', 'laminar airfoils', mantienen el flujo laminar en toda su cuerda, pero la simple suciedad que se pegue a la superficie del ala induce un deterioro en el rendimiento, deja de haber flujo laminar, se hace más turbulento, aumenta la resistencia. Para el torbellino marginal se usan ahora los 'Winglets', pero este vídeo es de 1955, que el petróleo estaba muy barato, y se han aprendido bastantes cosas de aerodinámica. Aspirar la capa límite lo probaron en el Northrop X-21. 'Aufwiedersehen' es 'Hasta otra vez' en alemán. Gesund +
