Hi Christo....in regards to the clubface in this video. It appears about 1/2 way up your backswing you rotate your forearms a bit...at the top your left wrist looks flat. Not bowed or cupped....thoughts?
My problem with the OTT christo is the consistency of how much I go over each time. Seems like I constantly fighting to get that thing back on plane consistently. Sometimes I come over too much over times not enough. But it's true, when you get it right you can harness a hell of lot of power and leverage into the ball that's pretty damn easy on the body.
Hi Christo. Agree 100 percent! Do you feel your inside take away is a full body takeaway? I do. Specifically for my full body takeaway I simply focus on gliding my trail scapula about 2 to four inches towards my spine ( Alison T ) and then I immediate open up my lead side to throw my club through the ball over my lead shoulder. And yes; it does feel a little like going over the top and may even look like it; but as i say perhaps in other words; “ At the top transitional part of my continuous swinging of the club i throw my club head over my lead shoulder ( end over end: Martin Ayer) along with simultaneously opening up my lead side. These two actions places my club head on its path directly to my ball and then over my lead shoulder. Cheers 😊🥂👍
Thats not "over the top", thats just on plane (a good swing). The club never goes in front of the plane here. The butt of the club obviously goes forward, but the shaft does not come over the top. Makes little difference, but just weird that you call it "over the top", this might confuse viewers.
That's awesome! Most folks do this drill with a skipping stone motion. I want the force to be on top of the shaft, not to the side except maybe with a driver.
Question: Have you ever read John Schlee's book called Maximum Golf? Basically an homage to Ben Hogan! Hogan spent many hours with John. It can be a hard book to find and a little pricey! However, it is one for the ages. Something that has always been said about some of these great swingers......Is that they FEEL like they are going over the top when they are swinging at their best! FEEL and what is Actually happening can be different. Why? Because IMO.....they are feeling the exact moment the club shaft starts to move away from the right shoulder (for right hander's). In essence, a proper release and rotation of the upper body....FEELS like the club comes OVER! Hard to explain in words, but I bet you understand! I would be interested in seeing you hit some BIG Draws and Big Fades....and see what you do to get that shape. BTW....I worked for a long time on keeping the relationship of the Shaft of the Club and my right shoulder as long as I could hold it.....Then Release. Take Care!
