Ask her to pray the Rosary with you. Perhaps ask her parents if she can be enrolled to make her first communion. That would be AMAZING if you did.

@@gabiafterhours Thank you. We are not catholic, but I do have a rosary a catholic friend gave me. I purchased a booklet about it, and am continuing to watch videos. I do not want to misrepresent any aspect of the catholic faith, so is it ok for us to pray the rosary if we are not members of this faith? I am not opposed to it, and want my niece to continue this special bond with Mary. It truly is special and seems to come from within. Thank you for your reply.

Well for one... neopagan Goddess worship is worshipping a fictional character. Mary is the real true mother of Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ is really truly God. So honoring his real mother is different from worshiping a pretend idol. Easy.

Have you ever spoken to non-Catholics about this stuff? The way you talk about Mary, the way you push the Rosary...there are modern yoginis who fawn over Kali in the same way, and encourage the meditation with appropriate mantras and malas. Hinduism predates Catholicism by hundreds of years (thousands, by Vedic reckoning). Modern Wiccans and Women's Spirituality proponents choose from various goddesses, including Mary, and speak in the same devoted way as you do. I'm not asking you to prove Jesus or Mary existed, because those are conversations that go down rabbit-holes that I'm not sure you're ready to go down. What I asked was, "how does your *worship* of Mary differ from pagan worship of goddesses?" You've ascribed magic powers, personality and decisions to Mary, that were attributed to various goddesses from time immemorial to the present, but which seem to originate in your own head. I'm going to read "Hail Holy Queen," and "Behold Your Mother," and see if I can get more of an answer than you've given. Maybe those books will explain why a Catholic like yourself appears to praise Mary above Jesus and God. I'd *consider* converting, but if the Catholic faith is just more of what I've already seen for 30+ years, there's no reason to do that. For the record, I have a decades-long background in comparative mythology, neopagan spirituality, and study of various religions, I have no problem with your worship of Mary as a goddess; I know plenty of people who have a preferred goddess in their lives, but maybe you should admit it to yourself?
