So I’m an energy worker. When I use infared light it literally FEELS the exact same as energy healing being given on me. Anyone who feels energy will understand this. Pretty cool. So yes, it IS VERY HEALING!
Before & after a multiple level lumbar fusion I have been using red light & infra red light therapy at home. It has been remarkably helpful in reducing pain. It also helps my energy level. I do the dosing as per recommendations from Ari Whitten’s book that you mention here. I can feel the difference & it helps reduce the need for pain medications. I use a Hooga Pro300 panel, the most economical great half panel, recommended by Alex Fergus in hie RU-vid reviews of light therapy devices. I am so happy & stunned by the efficacy every day that I use it . Thank you for your medical perspectives; great info here!!!!
22 years ago, while working for chiros, I first experienced the TDP far infrared lamps but not for pain. It was something used over the thymus area to support immune function and promote overall relaxation. I did a 20 minute session during my lunch break every day. I've never been without one ever since. Using one right now to help with a sinus issue. And we have 2 far infrared heating pads. They're especially useful during the long winters in Chicago.
@@donnysingh6389 TDP lamps are a brand. Lots of sellers on amazon and eBay. If you use them for sinuses, never have them too close and only short sessions, as the heat penetrates pretty deep and sneaks up on you. But also look into your diet, possible food allergies, hydration, possible toxins in your environment at home, etc, if you haven't already.
I'm a L.M..T. for 26 yrs w chronic Lyme disease arthritis I only use T.D.P infrared lamps for my healing and chiropractic I love my lamp even for digestive issues
Hello from Eau Claire ! I've been loving your videos . I have hip problems , FAI, had left hip scoped in Feb, getting right side done tomorrow, I can testify that PT is sooooo important.

I got mine a few years ago. I use it every night when I stress my back, which is most of the time. I had back surgery 15 years ago. I think this IS HEALING my back. It is helping me be much more active.
@@SlickLicksWithAlex yes! Over here, the main model was / is By Phillips electrical. Small easily portable, and very effective. But recently, bought a much bigger one By Burer, available in most countries. Including USA. It has a timer function.. very useful, max 15 minites. NO need to spend Hundreds on these items.. The Burer cost me £80. Hope that helps.
I purchased this on your recommendation in December of 2021 and fortunately it arrived a couple days before a severe fall which required 20 X-rays of my spine. While I'm on it - it relieves the pain but with my severe problems it doesn't last that long once I'm off it, so bottom line - I'm off and on it all day. I just wished it was larger - I know they have a full size one and one of these days I'm going to call them and perhaps go for the full body size. Can't really figure out how to use those straps though. Overall, I recommend it.
Also try the TDP lamps. Been using mine for 22 years. We have pads too but I find the lamps more useful and versatile. If you get one with 2 heads, your whole body will receive the heat.
@@catherineshaw1122 I just got a TDP lamp. Does it still penetrate 60 mm when it’s 8-10 inches away? I’m giving myself a Tx right now. I’m trying to heal a knee that I’ve had a repetitive injury involving the ligaments/tendon.
I ordered one and really like it, the heat is gentle and it can be worn for a long period without feeling like it's burning the skin. But I agree with another comment about the stiffness of the pad. It's very hard to get the heat into the neck area.
Dear Most Famous PTs on the Internet, you've helped me before, so I took your advice and your discount (thank you!) and ordered the infrared platinum pad for myself for Christmas. Sugar consumption (added sugar, that is) results in stiffness in my lower back, hips, and knees, but hopefully this pad will help when my reduced-sugar resolve is weak and when I re-start my exercise program after the holidays. It's Christmas Day and I've made fudge, plus I had a cheese danish for breakfast and flavored-cream in my coffee. I'll suffer for that later! Everyone should try avoiding added-sugar for 30 days just to see the toll it takes on your brain and body functions. You'll be amazed!
G.C. I stopped all sugars, EVEN the hidden ones, in all foods, as well as quit diary, grains, soy, one years ago as I had a very bad inflammatory condition(s) in my body. One year later, no evidence at all that there is anything active. My doctor has said that I have changed the entire composition of my body's ecology...for the better, as a result of this. I am now "normal" after 9 years of chronic illness as a result of these life choices. I feel so much better, high energy, stamina, focus...it's amazing. Please, do look into stopping the sugar. It is "deadly" to the system. Thank you for your honestly and candor.
Sugar and dairy are not the problems. You have been conned. Sure added sugar is not optimal but there are bigger bogeymen around. Dairy is a fantastic source of fat soluble vitamins, not to mention cheap and easy protein. Don't post your herbalife story trash here.
Is it true that natural sun light will do the same or better for your muscles? I am originally from India and i remember during our Grand Parents time, they used to apply castor oil to the whole body and sit out in the morning Sun for an hour every week! And they used to be very healthy without any health issues
The sun emits ultra violent light, as well as infrared, however the former is much more dangerous, so I wouldn't recommend sitting out in the sun as an alternative to getting an infrared pad.
I know this was a year ago...but I've found acupuncture to be very beneficial for pain reduction to elimination for sciatica. Also stretches...b&b have a video for those.
What is the basic difference between near and far infrared heat? Some saunas use near and the device your recommending and using uses far. Which is better?
great video as always you both have excellent professional advice on how to stay pain free , I use the theromotex heating pad and it’s the best product on the market thanks for all of your expertise 👍
I love my Thermatex, but have noticed that my feet become cold when I use it on my back, especially in this cold weather. Does heating one area of the body draw warmth away from another part?
Hi, im not really sure what happened to the product, just wanna share here.. Nowdays, there are attire being sold in the market that will emit FIR to the body. Maybe you can google it first. Imo, that is the best option so far. On the go and cheaper :D
Three things: 1) Wrapping the pad around a joint does not make the penetration twice as much (4.6 cm), it gets penetration from both sides, but still only to the regular depth. 2. "When" does the unit start generating FIR emissions? Does it require the unit to "heat up" (reach a physically-sensed temperature), or does it start emitting FIR immediately, and the physical heating is a result/side effect of the emission? 3. What are the emission wavelengths / bands?
For you 1st question. It actually does penetrate 4.6inch becuase it has 3 pads and onr pad can penetrate around 2.3 inches, so if you wrap it around a joint you will have a pad on both sides so if you add them together its 4.6inchs
@@autonomyseeker6082 Erm... No. It penetrates 2.3". Classical electro-magnetics fundamentals: field density can be calculated from a point source, a line (infinitely long of point sources on a line), and a surface. A field penetrating from one side, extending 2.3 inches in, does not penetrates 4.6 inches in because it's wrapped around. Let the radius R increase to 2x. The field penetration is still 2.3", from any surface.
@@catherineshaw1122 The depth of penetration depends upon the wavelength, the body composition, and to some extent, the condition of the cells. The point being made was that it's not a doubling of depth, but the fact that wrapping the body part then gets penetration from all around. The depth of penetration is still dependent upon the factors mentioned. 2.3" or any other number, is just a general way of visualizing the penetration, and not useful for much of any other purpose.
You wouldn’t want to comment on anti-aging benefits for facial skin would you? I’ve heard studies show that a combo of near infrared and LED can promote collagen growth etc... People seem to like LED alone but supposedly adding infrared is even better.
You should look into plastic surgeons or people who are into a skin care you're right there's a mask that you can wear using infrared and what you were talking about the combination of a light sources that actually do help produce collagen in your face and actually do a markedly improve your facial appearance over time hopefully that helped you I wish you the best always bye-bye
I have been investigating the possibility of using the ordinary infra red lamp for palliative treatment of my non diabetic neuropathy of the legs and feet. I have all scientific papers published on the penetrative depths of various emf radiations into the skin. The greatest penetration is that of near IFR at 1000nm radiated by the common infra red lamp and all other frequencies have either no penetrative energy or penetrative depths of a few mm. So how is it that you present information indicating penetrative depths of more than 100 mm? Please be good enough to clarify and thank you very much.
Are you discussing regular close infra red or far infra red, how deep would far infrared go? And how does it compare to far uv? And do these have to be certain frequencies to work properly.
Looks like I have the same question. I think the far infared is not what they are talking about for the brain improvement. It is a cap that you put on your head,
Not an expert myself but I see it like this (thanks to B&B/others). The infrared heat goes deeper than other types of heat 'pads'. So... the added heat helps to both bring blood to a selected (pain) area AND consequently encourages *more* blood at and around the area. Thus the 'deeper' heat created by this type of 'pad' 'can' ultimately help with healing which of course will generally result in varying degrees of pain relief. As to cartilage, unfortunately it doesn't 'heal' as such as it doesn't have any blood cells (to reach and repair damaged tissue). Thankfully research is being done to find ways of regenerating and/or repair cartilage. Cartilage itself is a huge subject and thankfully advances are being made. Hope that helps. 😉
Both. Increases circulation at the site and reduces inflammation. I use the TDP lamp more often though, I find it more versatile. 22 years and I wouldn't be without one.
@@300apes you aim it wherever you need it and you don't have to be lying down. I use it while seated at my desk as well. Lying down, I use it over the thymus gland, over my stomach and lower abdominal area, sometimes my back. It's a staple in Chinese medicine and acupuncture sessions.
As someone who has used the lamps for 22 years, and also has some pads, I find the lamp more versatile. My husband uses it on his knees when the winter cold makes them ache.
Thermotex products are Made in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. I always look for products made in North America rather than China. I found a dish pan at the Dollar Store, made in Canada. What a surprise. 😊
I own the Bob and Brad thermatex heating pad my question for Bob and bread is can you use the thermatex heating pad for more than 20 minutes at a time without damaging the muscles🙏✌
Has anyone needed to use the warranty in the first 4 years? Since they say it's been running since 2000. Of course quality may not be the same as back in the day sadly for many products
thanks A QUESTION doesn't it have to transmit the light on an exposed skin ? also what wavelength of led light therapy would you recommend to help strength the collagen and skin elasticity ? please recommend a device ,,, thanks
Nicely done, despite abuse to the helpless skeleton. QUESTION: If someone has pain due to inflammation in their joints - facets - nerves - or muscles around them, what I have always been told is that cold is best to reduce inflammation and swelling and CANNOT hurt. Heat might work, but if it doesn't work it can exacerbate the pain. SO, are you saying that this infra-red heat - by this maker or another, if it goes deep enough will do the same thing as ice (cold-gel pack) or better, or can it possibly not work, depending on the person or why they have the pain in their joints/muscles/nerves and all (they all are connected as we know)? Seriously, is this for sure, or does one have to invest in one of these nice deep penetration infrared pads and see if it works? I appreciate more clarification. Note to Brad: If you can laugh at the back massaging pad rotating at breast level, Bob can whack the skeleton. :) Seems fair. PS: OK, I did research your videos, and in August 2017 you did a video on "Heat versus Cold?" Unless I missed something you both agreed that if one has a BACK injury and especially chronic back disc issues where there is going to be nerve, tissue, muscle and other inflammation and swelling with associated pain, cold is best and heat would be contraindicated. That is what I have with a combination of fibromyalgia, but more importantly spondololisthesis at L4-5 and an arthritic spur at L5 on the facet that barely touches the spinal nerve. Lower lumbar spine arthritis-diisc degeneration as well. Even though I have maintained things using chiropractic, PT and exercises for several years now at a low Grade 2, I don't think I want to be putting any kind of heat on it. I assume you concur, but will wait and see if you answer my burning question, and that of 2-3 others it seems. Thanks guys.
I've been wondering also if infra-red would cause inflammation around an injury (not a new one, old and persistent; like disc problems and related muscle discomfort) I hope they address our question.
Heat for pain with no inflammation ice when pain with inflammation. Infrared heat penetrates under the skin helping relax the muscles also good to practice range of motion exercises after heat treatment then ice after.
Hello! Like your videos! I heard about "soft wave rherspy", which is based on some sound waves, which help to eliminate pain as well as information. Do you use it in your practices?.
I'll check back to see your reply to Denn...'s question. Everyone prefers the feel of warm to cold! Hoping the answer is that the amount of time suggested does NOT promote inflammation. Also, how it compares with cold therapy for a condition such as plantar fasciitis. Maybe it's better for more general muscle/joint pains and aches? The company's site makes lots of claims! Have to say, you guys always have helpful and informative videos...Thanks!
Do y’all know if infrared and near infrared is safe for someone with a pacemaker? She could really use the healing benefits and can’t find much speaking to someone with a pacemaker.
do you know if someone with hearth problems can use infrared light and if applyiing direct infrared light is good if can make tumors be smaller or grow?
Oh god, if I had any money I'd buy one of these in a heartbeat. My heating pad broke after 2 months, recovery from my surgery is really wild. I don't know if I have menigitis or fibromyalgia right now. My vision is getting worse suddenly, i don't knwo what to expect when I wake up in the morning. THough.. I can't sleep on my back without struggling until the next morning.. only sleeping every other day consistently for 4 weeks. Maybe gofundme or something can help? who knows! my friend got a wheelchair funded for him within like a month on there. (gofundme takes weeks to send you the actual funds though)
I have an infrared sauna ,I take blood pressure medication in the morning. I use my sauna around 6:00 pm. I have had no adverse effects. Your blood vessels also dilate, which can lower your pressure. A 2009 review of studies about the effect of infrared saunas found "limited moderate evidence" that infrared sauna use helped normalize blood pressure. The cardiac issue IDK. You should consult with your doctor on both.
Hi Brad & Bob. I got wrap around light pad that is 660 & 850, and I am just putting it right on the skin. Is that right? Not sure how I can keep it distant. I broke my ankle 6-weeks ago with plate and screws so want both inner healing a scar healing. Is the 850 going to burn the scar because I think we’re meant to stay out of the sun. I’ve been running 10mins of 660 followed by 10mins of 850. Is it the right time to do it & are my settings and time right Thank you
I used my Platinum Thermotex one time. My pain level shot up from a two to a six.! Has this happened to anyone else.? I am Not happy . Any suggestions Bob and. Brad?
