M272 and M273 needs these to be done to make sure the front of the engine stays clean and also to make sure the belt, pulleys, tensioner, thermostat and serpentine belt are all in a good shape and this service plus the fluid changes, guarantees miles and miles of trouble free driving in your Mercedes with peace of mind, please like, share subscribe and give me your feedback and feel free to ask questions and I will respond as soon as possible, cheers Max, Brisbane Australia.
Great tutorial, every high mileage Merc with these engines is going to have these issues. Probably worth changing the cam shaft sensors and magnets while the accessories are unbolted.
There is a specific pattern you are supposed to torque the oil filter housing bolts down, start at the middle bolt, then down, upper right, left across, down to the right, then upper left bolt last. When I replaced my oil filter housing gaskets I didnt bother draining the coolant, just pull off the oil filter housing and it drained that way. Also no need to disconnect the coolant hose and thermostat wire, just unbolt the thermostat housing and lift out of the way. After the oil filter housing was removed I then drained the oil in case there was any coolant contamination.
I wasn't happy with the fit of the Elring oil filter housing/cooler gaskets. Too loose, and I wasn't going to use rtv to retain them. You could get by with the oil cooler gasket a bit loose if the unit is off the engine, but the oil filter housing gasket snug fit is mandatory. The housing is held vertically to be installed, and you have to rely that gasket staying in place, especially because you can't really see behind the housing. I installed oem MB gaskets for the housing/cooler. More expensive but the fit was perfect, no leak issues.
My cam shaft position sensor code appear on scanner P0018, PO392 bank a n b, do i need to replace the cam sensor? No engine light, engine runs fine, thx
@@BenzAddiction Ah I see. I see. Did you have a change of heart in the middle of your service? I've read that 5w-40 is better in older benz engines. That's what I use now in my M272
@@andreasb8232 TBH sometimes from start to finish of video it takes 2 months, I work bit by bit, Mercedes recommends more 5w-40 but I think 5w-30 is somehow better marginally.
bro i just bought a beautiful 2010 s204 c300 wagon at 110k miles, i've just changed all the fluids. there aren't any leaks or problems i can identify yet but what are some preventive maintenance i should do on it? i'm planning to use this car to go on really long road trips so i don't want it to break down randomly. as far as maintenance history go, engine oil was changed around every 10k miles and not much else was done except for the spark plugs according to the previous owner. btw you are a legend if you reply after 2 month.
Check the belt, always have 1 crankshaft sensor handy at least, diagnose and make sure there is no codes on engine and trans. Finally I suggest 5k miles oil change intervals. Good engine have a safe and fun journey.
Hi, I have a 2010 e550 with the M273, I’ve been losing about a cup of coolant after every day of driving. I dont see any leaks visually and dont see any white smoke coming from the exhaust when idling. What could my issue be
There is a coolant pressure tester on ebay that pressurises the cooling system with a gauge, buy one and test it yourself, instead of spending thousands on replacing random parts IMHO.
@@rizzotto139 That's normal, you want to diluite coolant with distilled water only. I also use it to diluite the washer fluid since tap water is full of limestone in the area where I live and it end up obstructing washer fluid nozzles and ducts
It is better to replace these parts with new ones because they cannot be cleaned 100%. I have c230 2,5 V6 2006y. and mechanic said that the oil cooler could not be cleaned on 100% and that it was better to replace it .
@@HugoBucc I totally understand that, but why would you sell a gasket if that won't work? Manufacturers could've just skip that $4 part and charge you an arm and a leg for the oil filter base + the oil cooler.
