Great video! Thanks for the encouragement...I've been struggling with this issue and just last week made my first video. It's horrible quality but I'm super proud of it because I had to learn a lot to make it! And hey, I was a youth pastor also back in the day. Looking to use much of what I learn from you to make missions related videos.
I've been doing little projects, often in my spare time and what I've discovered is how fun it is to look back and compare my old ones to my new ones and gauging how much I'm progressing. I find it amazingly satisfying and it's been pushing me to continue further on my journey, in which I still have so far to go. Don't give up guys, just keep sticking with it!
im watching all your videos man. this one really inspired me and made me be ok with being a amateur rather than forcing myself to be ''good'' all the time and getting discouraged by bad shots. thank u so much man. u just got urself one loyal sub. love it papa bless
You damn right mate. The secret is to do something you love and to focus on the present moment. Being grateful for what you have and what you live will definitely enhance the feeling of wellbeing in those experiences. The success will come if you do what you love.
As I turn another year older today, I went through a quick life reflection of a lot of things that I haven't accomplished yet, whether it's in my personal life or career... this video was a wonderful reminder of all the things I'm grateful for and to enjoy my ongoing journey... thanks travelfeels, I'm forever grateful for this amazing video!
I have a full time job and I travel and edit over the weekends or whatever leaves I get. But looking at all the successful youtubers and influencers sometimes makes me feel very low because I don't see a lot of growth on my channel. However, listening to you today made me feel so much better because I should remember how I love making videos and that's what's most important. The end goal should be to be happy doing what you love. Thank you!
Matti thank you sir for being so transparent about the process from where you started to now! Lately I’ve been working on paid projects that weren’t necessarily my passion to do, but simply paid the bills, causing me to shrink from creating video content that I love and am passionate about. You absolutely right that all filmmakers, or content creators, should always embrace the process of whatever it is that they do, and grow from it. Keep doing you, and take care.
That's where I'm at. I stopped looking at other creators and wanting to be them and realized that it's the process of filmmaking that I enjoy most. Not what camera I have or want... just hitting record and creating. Capturing memories. Learning from each and every video! Thanks for keeping my perspective in check! Great video!
Crazy how fast this channel is growing 🙂 Well deserved!! Thanks for all your advice! And congratulations to the first child and all the best to the family 🙂👋🏼
You are completely right! We never reach our destination, its a never ending journey so the most important thing, not just for us film makers but for everybody in any profession is to enjoy what you are doing day in day out!
Thanks for your words, really inspire me to keep going with my RU-vid channel. I love filmmaking and is a passion for me, and trying to get better everyday! Thank You again!
I've seen this video before, but I just rewatched it and it is DEFINITELY coming through more clear this second time around! Great words! And you're right! I've been enjoying every step of film making! The process is key! I'm always trying to take something ordinary, that I've seen over and over again where I live, and turn that into something creative! And enjoyable to watch! Thanks for this video! Super appreciate your words!
Hey Matti, I wanted to take a moment to express my heartfelt appreciation for the truly inspiring video you created. Your talent as a filmmaker shines through in every frame, capturing the essence of the subject matter with a captivating and unique approach. Your video not only showcases your technical expertise but also touches the emotions and leaves a lasting impact on the viewer. Thank you for sharing your passion, creativity, and dedication with the world. Your work has inspired me and countless others to pursue our dreams and embrace the beauty of life. Keep creating and making a difference with your incredible talent. With sincere gratitude, Raj
This video motivated me so much! Thanks, I'll keep taking more photos even tough I spend too much time on it an doesn't make any cents with it ... cause I love it!
Awesome tips Matti. Been subbed to your channel for over a year now but hadn’t stumbled across this video until now. As someone getting commercial gigs here and there, some of that advice hits home pretty hard. I need to realise that it wasn’t that long ago I was dreaming of getting my first paid shoot and now I have multiple on the go yet I’m unhappy and still want more. Wise words, and definitely an eye opener, cheers Matti!
This very stoic way of looking at it is 1000% correct and applies to absolutely everything. You will never have the willingness to go through the grind at the beginning when you are not amazing yet if you are not enjoying the process. And hence, you will never improve as you don’t enjoy the process of improving.
I desperately needed to hear this thank you. BTW I'm a new subscriber and I am already loving your channel. Again thank you for reminding me to enjoy the process. Looking forward to seeing more of your videos.
You are a wise man bud. Super glad to be a subscriber. You are one of my favs to watch. Well done on your journey so far. It's your inspiration that made me pick up a GH5 recently and have subscribed to the learning process myself. Thank you for that! :)
Cool story and great advice! Likewise, I graduated with a Bachelor of Theology from the Philippines, and now I'm getting more into film. Great content and epic videos, keep them coming!
I remember watching this video awhile ago and feeling inspire and im glad i came back this video because this is something i needed to hear again! thank you for your inspiration you have helped in ways you dont even know.
Thanks Matti! The wife and I are trying to do this together for fun and we really appreciate all your content!! Hopefully one day you can make a video of a behind the scene in creating a short film from start to finish. Thanks again!!
Dude! I left a programming degree to go to Bible college, finished with a bachelor's in theology, then after graduating, turned down positions to move to Sicily and learn how to do video online, and thats how I found your channel! Is getting a bachelor in theology a regular approach for film!? Who knew bible college was such an incubator for creativity. lol. Anyways, cheers. Thanks again for the helpful info and background :P
No bible college here. But I'm a youth pastor in my early 30s lol. And I'm trying to move to Europe next year with a skate/snowboard youtube channel. You are an inspiration dude! God is good. Keep up the hard work & honor Him and he will continue to bless you!
Hey guys! I find it funny you mentioned that all 3 of you were involved in church and now film and photography. I help out with my churches middle school and i recently decided to ditch nursing school for photography and now have found you @TravelFeels and @PeterMckinon. You guys are a great inspiration and Ive learned a lot from you guys in a short amount of time. Thanks again for always staying true to yourselves! Keep up the good work and love the process! Hope to see you all around one day soon!!!
I searched for how do I get paid for travel video but I found something worthy. This video was like a deep breath. Thank you! God bless you! All of you here!
agree 100%. I recently came to that realization after starting on RU-vid for the wrong reasons. I'm lucky that I even got started at all, and I stumbled upon the love of filmmaking 😃
I've watched about a dozen of your videos so far and wanted to say thanks for the education resource! Just starting out and a week after discovering your channel there's already improvement in my own project:) Your videos are awesome and highly inspirational!
I almost forget to hit the like button on your vids! These are helping me a lot. I'm a big gear head and I have all the gear needed I always forget the PROCESS. I need to push myself to create. I've done a lot of learning, some making, I need to do more making now lol then repeat!! Thank you very much!
If I tell you that your this tutorial has explicitly motivated me in a time where i actually lost motivation to make films, please keep making more videos like these. plus your words on destiny and process are lifetime lesson.
Your videos are the best. You're such an inspiration to me. I'm currently studying a bachelor in Advertising but all I want is to take pictures and make videos
I work a full time job as an IT professional Whenever I get a chance I go aout and make videos. I have never been Happier. I think you should keep doing what makes you smile ;-)
I graduate next month and I am planning to move to Australia for a year. I will work, travel shoot amazing places as I learn more about it. I'm so stoked ❤️
Wow just discovered your channel with this video, you are amazing! Thank you for the advice, it really helped, I just started getting into filming, keep killing it with the videos!
Bro, I just bumped into this video after following you for a while. Youth pastor and bible college? That's legit!!! I've Been filming for just a bit but so happy to see a fellow believer sharing knowledge to help others. God bless you man. Greetings from Los Angeles!
You're absolutely right in what your are talking m8. Always enjoy the process and love your work, and you gonna be successful! :-) Thanks for your video!
Loved the video, very inspirational. I found your channel recently from thinking it was a peter McKinnon video but actually being a collaboration of you two, I didn't sub just then, but I later stumbled upon another one of your videos and absolutely loved it. Now here I am a few weeks later and I can say wow, you have an amazing channel that you've built. I can't wait for you to hit 100k :)
Wow. This video really changed my perspective. I didn't even recognize that I was only focusing on the destination. Everything you said has hit me so hard and I wrote it down. I am going to go through the process. Thank you for creating this video. It was so insightful for me. Wow
you really changed my life with this video. you made me a better person and a better filmmaker. i'll never stop thanking you for that. that's why i'm going to apply to get hired by you :)
Matti - This video is really some fantastic inspiration. I just started making videos and, while I'm happy with the quality at this point and all the learning I'm doing through you and Pete, I do find myself frustrated with the numbers I'm seeing. This was a great reminder to keep moving. Best wishes to you, man! Thanks a lot.
Matti! Thanks again Man! Safe to say that you’re my number one professor! I Always feel so inspired and motivated after watching your videos! Thank you so much for this... really!!!
I am an it professionell. I started running seven years ago. After some days i started to love nature. So i started taking pictures. And five years later i started to recoding movies. Now i am here. Looking back on all that stuff and what i learned. And it's amazing what happens if you love something and try things out. Every picture and movie get a little bit better.
I think this video is changing all my entire life. You showed me right way to think about some things. Thank you very much :) Hope to create my first film soon
Ey mate. You are a big Inspiration for me. I Start NOW! Cheers and thx for this video. It means so much more than filmmaking but also a lesson for life. Keep doing this and when you are in Austria, let me know!
Ye it's so true! Enjoy getting up early and doing things which freak you out a little! You won't get to the destination if you don't jump into the initial dirty work and overcoming horrid things (which often turn out to be not that bad).
This may be the most inspiring video I've seen. I've always been obsessed with filmmaking, but now that I've been finally pursuing it professionally, I've definitely found that fear and a destination-mindset constantly get in the way. I also tend to think "I should have done this years ago" instead of thinking "I'm doing this now". Your advice is right in line with philosopher Alan Watts who says that a constant focus on the future is worthless if you can never enjoy the present.
Never really heard your story until this video, super cool. Very similar to mine. I was a full time worship leader at a church for 3 years, and just went full time into video production in May 2017. Very fun journey, and it’s awesome to hear about yours. Thanks for sharing. Great video as always. Your channel is outstanding.
Not what I was expecting but absolutely love the message thanks for sharing and thanks for that invaluable tip for not just filmmaking but life in general
This is good advice and something I think I needed to hear. I might be too focused on the destination. I need to focus more on what I have right now and get more content up.
That wast the best motivation video about filmmaking, that I have ever seen 😊 It reminds me, that I make movie to tell story and to see emotions of my audience. Thank you for what you doing. It is great stuff 😀
Like many others have said, great words of inspiration for life. I've been kind of stalled out because of my perfectionism but hey that's focusing on the destination instead of the process. Time to get back to making. Thanks for such a great inspiring and educational channel!
Absolutely love your videos man, stumbled on your work after seeing your work with Peter McKinnon. You'll hit 200k & more for sure this year because your advice & insight is so unreal - thank you, you're a true inspiration 🙌🏻
Great video. When I was in the 6th grade I made videos in an after school program and decided then to be a filmmaker. I went to a community college to get my associates in radio/tv/film but then felt I couldn't make money in it and changed to anthropology and realized I'm not sure how to make money with that either. Haha. Now I'm an electrician. I Love my work. I love stepping back and being able to say "I built that" and I think that was the appeal with filmmaking in the 6th grade. Anyway I'm lucky enough to fly for free and my wife and I have an annual pass to Disney and wanted to make tons of videos visiting WDW and other places in the country and we made a few videos on our channel but I got busy and stopped. I'm ready to get back in it and start making videos. This video helped a lot. In a weird way it also helps with my career as an electrician too. It's easy to want to just finish the job and get on to the next one but I learn sooooo much at every jobsite im at. Filmmaking for me is just a way to have some fun and relax and I don't expect to make money. Just want people to enjoy my work. Sorry for the long rant. I'm sure it was too long to read but thanks for making this video!
TravelFeels appreciate your point of view! Keep the great videos coming! Furthermore, thanks a million for the decent tutorials! I'll keep checking out your cool content! 👍🏼 have a great weekend!
Really good advice and an inspirational piece. Live, love, laugh at things, enjoy the ride and do what makes you happy. Thanks for the positive vibes :)
This is solid advice. Being thankful is the key to putting yourself in a good mood and having good energy. And THAT'S the key to bringing more good things into your life.
Thanks for the video! I'm an experience filmmaker that often struggles with putting out content. I write ideas down ALL day but never go further. Thanks!
