@@gauravmalltarlok5354that’s why me and MANY other long time paddock people said they should’ve dropped bottas for him in 2021. He would’ve “shook off” all that from his driving that year and gone into 2022 way more level headed. He was pushing like that because think about it. He drove for the back markers and proved his point to Toto and when he finally got the promised seat it was the worse car in comparison to the other in almost a decade. He felt like he still had to prove he was “that guy” dragging a car that doesn’t deserve it to places it shouldn’t be. You can see gr coming into his own now that Mercedes have “figured out” how to run at the front consistently in these regs. He can finally forget about proving the car is fast and just drive…

This! It's his mentality that makes me think that he will be a world champion. I don't see that from Norris and Leclerc, even though they have the pace and talent to be world champions. He has multiple times shown that he's not afraid to stick it to max and he has no problem with burning bridges if it means that he'll win, unlike Lando who prioritizes his relationship with Max. Along with George's confidence to overrule the teams strategy when he knows that it isn't right, something Charles seems to be completely incapable of doing. The only other driver that also does this is Carlos (and of course the older drivers do it aswell, but I'm talking about the younger ones. Alltough it is debatable to call Carlos a young driver considering he's turning 30 this year), it's a shame that Carlos lacks the raw pace of the others because otherwise he is a very complete driver. (and that he is not gonna be in a top team the upcoming years). George is also good at moving on from things, something that Lando sometimes struggle with. At times you see Lando still being a bit downbeat over things that happened last race and struggling to move on. Alltough he has gotten better at which he should get some credit for. George isn't the complete package yet he still makes some mistakes (Alltough I think it has been blown out of proportion and it is a normal level of mistakes if you compare him to Lando, Charles, early years of Max and even Lewis in 2011 for example) which probably because of the lack of experience fighting at the front and him pushing too much trying to get the most out of a car that simply isn't quick enough. I expect him to iron these things out now that the merc is quick again. The big problem that I have with him is that sometimes his decision making when overtaking people can be a bit desperate, he can sometimes get a bit impatient and go for a move that isn't really possible, something that has at times cost him more than the actual mistakes. He has also pulled of some brilliant overtakes throughout the years so maybe it's just a part of that audacious nature of George. It all boils down to the same thing, lack of experience fighting at the front. At times he is still pushing the car to places it shouldn't be, then mistakes happen.

George gets so much negativity because of his mindset. He wants to beat everyone. Including his much more popular teammate Lewis Hamilton. And a lot of the time, he's succeeded. Of course, hes made some errors. But hes definitely made up for them with his stellar performances that get overlooked by toxic fans. Hed be ahead of Lewis in the championship rn if not for his luck the last 3 rounds. And however it came about, he beat Lewis in 22 in his first year at Mercedes. You can tell hes hungry to win. Hes not here to finish 2nd to anybody.

Because George wants to beat Lewis every opportunity he gets, they say George isn't a team player and is selfish. But if George didn't show these traits, they would've said that George doesn't have that winner mentality.
@jonathanpario

George's driving style did give him an edge over Lewis at La source but we've got to mention the maturity in his driver intuition because he was talking about tire degradation and nursing the tires properly during the race to provide an opportunity to beat the faster cars during the race. He mentioned that during the post qualifying interview and on Sunday when everyone was pleased with a 2 stop he geniusly executed his 1 stop conserved his tires and Held off Lewis. Am a big LH💜 fan but I've never had more respect for George as a driver he totally deserved that win at Spa and I hope to see more of his brilliance and we all get to celebrate and appreciate him as one of the great talents in this Generation.
@TorqueFormulaWon
@TorqueFormulaWon 29 дней назад
He would have deserved the win if he did it in equal cars but he didn't he was underweight by at least 2.25-2.5 kg. Then add maybe he started 500 grams lighter anyway and he potentially had 2.75 to 3kg advantage. Merc didn't say who was lighter though. The 1.5kg underweight is not accurate as that's his dry weight and part of his fuel he had left (one litre of 2.8 litres) is disregarded. Others had an actual on track weight of at least 798kg plus a litre of fuel, plus fuel margin. He also had fuel left he could use that he didn't have to lift and coast as much as Lewis, and probably not at all. He also got the undercut on Lewis in his first pit stop, and being a very long lap around Spa and given how well the hard tyres worked against mediums that undercut, it would be worth quite a lot of time. I haven't seen many people mention this but just another advantage George had. I know Lewis definitely had to lift and coast early in the race, as Ted alluded to in his notebook. It was the strategy that got George ahead, combined with low Deg. Although funny thing is the Deg was supposedly high enough to make him underweight, yet other one stoppers managed to be legal with similar stint lengths as George. Idk something's off, why was he the only car to be underweight bearing that in mind. Now not saying George drove poorly, but it can't be said to be "genius" imo, because even the team said it was a "nothing to lose" strategy. It's media that hailed it genius. It didn't even work anyway, his so called "genius" backfired. I did defend George's drive immediately after, but after the DSQ and the teams various contradictions, not telling Lewis he was racing George and it being a very risky strategy that could have lost them two wins in one day had Oscar passed Charles quicker and Lewis, it's soured it for me. Had George been five seconds off the lead in third or second or something, then I think we could hail it as deserved or whatever, or if another top team tried the one stop and only George made the tyres last then sure, then I could say well done George, it was deserved provided his car was legal. Turns out none of that happened and his car was illegal. He had a larger advantage than many realise, especially as those crude calculations don't consider the length of the lap, the fuel mix (heard he ran rich the entire race btw but anecdotally), fuel usage and the biggest one for me is no lift and coast needed. That in itself is a huge advantage. That's is before you get into the performance advantages of using fuel as ballast. All this poor George business took the shine off a great drive from Hamilton. He deserved the win just as much, of not more than George did, as he did it legally. That said it was good he got himself into contention, but overlooked his tyres plank wear and sweat if the team are to be believed. Although I have questions about that really... Kinda screwed Lewis in a way imo by denying him the one stop, allowing George it (which I knew would happen as soon as Lewis boxed). Then not to tell Lewis he was racing George was unfair imo. Hungary or was all Oscar and Lando should swap said by pundits and commentators alike, then with Lewis and George it was crickets. Double standards there, even if circumstances were not identical they were very similar, and if anything Merc had more reason/ urgency to swap than McLaren did, especially as Oscar was catching. McLaren were miles ahead in Hungary.
@randomchicken0490
@randomchicken0490 29 дней назад
@@TorqueFormulaWon First of all, the cars are weighed without fuel, so that doesn’t matter. George was right at the weight limit after they had drained one liter from the tank for the fuel sample, and he was underweight by 1.5kg with an empty tank. Both Merc cars weigh the same (within 500g of eachother as confirmed by Andrew Shovlin), there shouldn't be a difference in fuel loads since the engine modes are locked so you can't "run rich" anymore like you could in the past. There is an optimal window of the power to weight ratio that will give you the best performance across a race, which is the same for both cars. The reason for Lewis's lifting and coasting was apparently mostly to manage tire temps not to conserve fuel. I find that a bit strange considering he was in clean air basically all race, but maybe it was because he was pushing hard to stay ahead? One factor you fail to consider when it comes to fuels levels is that, Lewis was leading the race and George was stuck behind Piastri and Perez for half the race, for much of that George was within DRS range and with the drag reduced so is also the fuel consumption, that may be the reason as to why Lewis had to lift and coast a lot but still didn't have that much fuel in the end (atleast compared to George). You also say "he had extra fuel left that he could use that he didn't have to lift and coast as much" first of all we've already established that that isn't true, they started with same fuel levels. But if it was true, wouldn't that be a weight penalty compared to Lewis, and would it not slow him down since he can't actually use the extra fuel since engine modes are locked? The other onestoppers didn't to as long stints as George (even though the Astons are pretty close) and those that did do a one-stop are backmarkers or midfield cars and I doubt that they are at the weight limit in the first place since it seems to be quite difficult to actually get the cars down to the 798kgs. Williams hinted at being close to 10kg overweight at the start of the year, Alpine was also severely overweight. It wouldn't suprise me if Aston, RB, Haas, and Sauber are also a bit overweight. Maybe not all of them, but probably a few of them. The reason they labeled it a genius strategy was because it was George who made the call off of feel and defied what the team thought was possible. Whether you agree or disagree that it was genius is fine, but he was the only one of the frontrunners that made that call. Lando and Max could've done the same since they were in similar positions, but they didn't. That deserves a bit of credit to George regardless of it not working out in the end, it was through no fault of his own and with such a little advantage from the weight that it is laughable to sugest that that was the reason he won. I don't understand what you mean by "the performance advantages of using fuel as ballast", you can't use fuel as ballast since they weigh the cars without fuel. The fuel is also often higher up than the ballast is, so the center of gravity would be higher and not to mention that the fuel sloshes around so the center of gravity and the weight balance is constantly changing which isn't ideal. If you are talking about having fuel tanks designed to alter the cars weight balance depending on how much fuel there is in the car, then you should know that it is quite strictly regulated nowadays. The FIA has determined a weight balance window that the teams have to stick to. It has something to do with safety. I can't remember exactly what. Lewis was "denied" the one stop because it was a big and unnecessary risk for him. All of the calculations said that the one-stop was slower, but the X-factor in it all was that it was so difficult to overtake. Lewis really only had to cover the drivers near him, which were all on the same strategy as him. The reason the team didn't tell Lewis about George was because he wasn't even in Lewis's race until the end, all the calculations said that Lewis would catch George, pass him and that George would've ended up around P5. If the team would've told Lewis early on, I bet he would've thought it was unnecessary info and wondered why they even told him about it. Hindsight is always 20/20 dont forget that! It is easy to say that they should've done this or that, but in the moment, no one thought that George would've been able to even hold on to a podium, much less a victory. In Hungary it was about a complete an utter fuck up by McLaren that almost took away Oscars first victory. Mind you I don't think Lando should've given up that victory, he is chasing Max in the championship (albeit very unsuccessfully), he was quicker than Oscar, he seized the opportunity when McLaren pitted him first and in my opinion had no obligation to swap positions. Unfortunately McLaren has a history of team orders between Oscar and Lando, where Oscar has given up the position many times, I guess it was time to pay back the favor this time. It being Oscars first victory probably also played a part in it all. Mercedes doesn't have a history of teamorders between George and Lewis. They have always been free to race each other. You're talking about it being riskier for Mercedes because Oscar was catching them. If Lewis couldn't get past George in a car that was 8 tenths quicker per lap with DRS, then there is no chance that Oscar was gonna pass them in a car with only a slight pace advantage in a DRS train. Lewis drove an absolutely perfect race and it is absolutely a deserved victory, it's just a shame that it happened this way and it was really just the icing on the cake for George's bad luck these last three races which definitely stung a bit.

Going around La Source was a perfect observation as how George hits corners clean. Lewis braked late and always hit the kerb which reduced the launch up to Eau Rouge and didn’t let him pass George. A shame about the DSQ but it seems like George is coming into his own, and has a Max-lite level of determination which will suit him well in future seasons, George could be a WDC threat as early as next season, but as long as Toto doesn’t throw him away for 2016, he could really excel when we move away from ground effect.

@@F1Unchainedbro no, you must be new to the sport… Lewis and George have different styles go watch how Lewis would gently glide through maggots and beckets in 8th allowing the car to float through, while George would downshift and really work the car through it. Which is why his pace falls off in the wet, he overworks the tires. Only time he didn’t he got DSQ for being way underweight. Aka Illegal car. Also drivers like lewis/max are always much better in tyre management due to the shorter corners they take. Go watch Peter Windsor explain it.

George is a great driver and unfairly treated on sm. It’s quite possible Mercedes could win 7 or 8 races yet finish 3rd or 4th, would Toto consider it a better season than the last two?
@chiss4181
@chiss4181 29 дней назад
Hamilton's advantage in tyre management isn't down to having more experience, it's down to the fact that he is more talented than George and is smoother, more subtle and better at modulating things, which is why he beats George in the rain and in the races. Putting it down simply to Experience is an understatement.

I think due to the videos you show, the analysis is a bit misleading. Sure George is smoother now in the current car, doesn't mean necessarily mean he is a smoother driver overall. If your accustomed to driving a car with low grip that is unpredictable, you will naturally evolve a smooth driving style. Fact of the matter is you can't throw a tatuus FA01 into a corner the way you can a SF70H, even at lower speeds, you simply just can't due to physics. So I think a lot of both driver's current styles reflect the cars they were driving up to this point. George has been driving F3 and F2 machines while Lewis was mastering his technique in the fiercest race cars on the planet. So.. yeah George approaches the limits of the car gradually whereas Lewis is starting to think the car is quick again, so he does what he knows best and quickest (statistically) and maybe it doesn't work so well. Another case is Max, who hasn't maybe always had the fastest car overall. but one quick in corners to the point where even if the car is quick, it's still not favorable for him if he can fling it into a corner. That being being said I think Lewis would be smoother in a quicker car, not to take anything away from George, he is doing really well.

And it will be: 1. Verstappen 2. Antonelli 3. Leclerc 3.5 Russell/Piastri 4. Sainz 6. Norris 7. @@Real_ghostboi we don't know what It will be because a large part of the order will be based on the car each driver has. To put Antonelli at number 2, when he's 6th in the F2 standings (where the cars are almost identical) shows you dont pay much attention. So maybe that's your wish list.
@Real_ghostboi

@@lukenoonan3898 Well, put Lewis in a Stake and Zhou in a McLaren, and I would still say Lewis is better than Zhou, regardless of whether Zhou outscores Lewis. I've been following Antonelli for some time now, and I've also looked back at some other drivers's junior careers. When you compare them all at the same age, the only driver on the current F1 grid who's had a better junior career than Kimi is Max Verstappen. When you listen to how all the engineers who have worked with Kimi, talk about him, you'll realize that me putting Kimi in second place in that list isn't as ridiculous as you make it out to be. Whether Kimi will actually turn out to be as good as the rumors seem to suggest, is a whole 'nother conversation.

Because Lewis fans have felt threatened ever since George beat Lewis in 2022. When Lewis choked in 2022, they said it was because he was experimenting more with the car than George. When Lewis beat George in 2023, they said it was all down to Lewis being such an amazing driver. Now that George is beating Lewis comprehensively in qualifying, they say Lewis is being sabotaged. Are you starting to see the pattern? Whenever Lewis beats George, they say it is because Lewis makes the difference, but when George beats Lewis, they say it's because something is going on with Lewis's car. They refuse to give George his credit. They believe that Lewis should beat George 100 times out of 100, and whenever Lewis doesn't beat George, something must be going on with Lewis's car...

Listening to you try to promote Russell, who is 'one of the worst F1 drivers currently racing, must have been a major drag for you!!! Based on his 5.5 seasons in F1, trying to believe that Russell could becoming a WDC by beating Max; Hamilton; Alonzo; Lando; LeClerc; Perrez; Carlos; etc 'on track' is so far beyond beyond any F1 Fans belief ....... including Russell himself. ha-ha This year he got 1 won race as a result of Lando crashing into Max. His second win was taken away from him because he defied team orders by1 stopping, causing his car to be under weight after the race. Based on this seasons statistics alone, Russell has cost the Mercedes team the most in car repair costs and in losing critically important team championship points. The Mercedes team needs to dump Russell asap to be able to compete for both championships again.
