I just adopted an OTTB in June, I can not express how instrumental your videos and your Basic Training Academy has been me training my horse from the ground up!! He's a young horse, extremely green, and he is making outstanding progress every day!! Josie, you're such an inspiration ❤

I have spent many months re training my adductors to be useful in my riding as these are the muscles we need working to enable quality aids, not our glutes. As you said Josie ignite the glutes and your horse will think you mean halt. Love watching you work with your horses :)

Having a non tense body but still with tone in it so we are not “floppy” is one of the hardest thing to understand and do in riding IMHO.

Would you please do a video on riding the first canters under saddle? I have been using the technique of bigger/faster trot to help my breaker naturally fall into canter. Turns out she can do a really big trot and it takes ALOT of this to get her to canter.

Thank you so much for this! So what I’ve learned is that I wasn’t necessarily doing it wrong in the first place - however I’m doing too much because I’ve got an unresponsive horse - so that’s what my focus should be rather than stressing about “doing it wrong” as such xx

Excellent. Started a 3 yr old with riding 2 weeks ago. Riding bareback until she responds immediately to my body & voice que (ask) and then tiniest bit of leg (tell). For the first 3 sessions, i had to add the crop for the demand. Thats no longer necessary. Working on turns this week. Sligh turn in my body (intention and ask) then leg (tell) then reign if needed (demand).

Spider is happily eating and keeping Grayson in check for me 😝. Rebel is good. This is last weeks footage of him. I’m about to start competing again with him. Lilly has just started under saddle and now it’s Graysons turn!!

I get this. What do they mean by having a chair seat? My posture keeps putting me in it! ugh

I've noticed that nowadays even top dressage riders have a LOT of leg and ankle movement, and it drives me nuts. Dressage (and other disciplines, to a point) used to emphasize nearly imperceptible aids, and I still prefer that. And don't get me started on the rounded backs and shoulders! Thank you for this video! ("Rubenesque-ish"! 😂 Me, too!).
