Lanny Bassham's Mental Management System turned me into a consistent, relaxed, high scoring USPSA shooter. I used to choke on half the stages and worry and stress through every match. Not any more. Consistent high performance is not only possible now, it feels effortless. Don't get me wrong, I have to train HARD but I compete easy. In the coming year my motto is train HARDER compete easier.

I watched Bolt win his 3rd consecutive gold medal in 100 m sprint last night. Like probably everyone else, my heart sank the first few seconds - he did not have a good start. Then I noticed how suddenly his whole stride and body motion became "easy" - flowing, effortless (and I don't know a thing about athletics, so don't quote me on the technicality, I just "saw" it) and he caught up and won. I think maybe that was exactly it - He must have been so wanting that gold at the start, but when he tried "less" half way through it became "easy". I don't know if this really applies, because the time frame is so short and the energy output so high, but I do think that is what happened.

My archery has gone pear-shaped for the last 3 years, I've been round and round in circles. I've identified a couple of areas to improve and then I realised - I'm not running my mental program. Damn, that took a long time to realise. Nice advice in the video, I'm guilty of that too.
