Love this and shared it. Robert Rodriguez is one of the most important reasons why I started filmmaking... Cause he said I could do it. So I went and did it. Sure they are just short films, but those short films were like my "Film School". Now I'm in the middle of shooting my first full feature film, and looking to land a distributor.
My interpretation humbly submitted. 1. Live a creative life in everything you do. 2. Aim Higher than everyone else. 3. Take action first to be inspired. Not vice-versa 4. Choose to be challenged not the easy way out. 5. Welcome Failure. It leads to success. 6. Trust your inner voice always. 7. Don't make it precious. Be willing to let go. 8. Do the various jobs yourself if you enjoy them. 9. Know your reason WHY before anything else. 10. Stay positive ALWAYS. Half full NOT half empty
Robert's book changed my life. Not in an "I made millions" type of way, but just the way to look at things. Always question the norm, the way "it's supposed to be done". If anyone hasn't read it and wants to in some way be a filmmaker, highly recommend it.
Love this Evan! Robert Rodriguez is definitely one of my heroes-- making his first feature film at age 23 with only $7000... Amazing. "Don't wait to be inspired to do the action. You have to do the action first to be inspired. Don't wait."
i read Robert Rodriguez' Rebel Without A Crew last year. Mined all interviews available on RU-vid and watched this video a few times. I just completed my first short narrative feature using the techniques I learned from listening and watching his words of wisdom. Also since then, I've laid down groundwork for my own business and other linked businesses. Basically I'm creating my own universe. I love watching these videos you post because you extract such nuggets and I always turn to one when I'm feeling down and needing some encouragement. The more I continue to pursue my dreams, the lonelier the field, but the more rewarding my accomplishments. Thank you for implementing the internet and RU-vid as a learning and sharing tool for other wonderers, wanderers, thinkers, doers, creatives and those striving to improve themselves. Appreciated
Evan, thank you so much for Robert Rodriguez's Top Ten Rules for Success. My favourite 1:10 "Just do one thing." This is so simple yet most of us don't live like this.
"live a creative life" but really the whole thing. I kid you not, just today, someone asked if I could interview anyone who would I pick. I said Robert Rodriguez. Then I tripped over your interview and he was all I was thinking he was about and more. My keywords are synchronicity, intuition and positivity and how they fuel each other and keep us moving forward and happy. Of course, I love his films too. Thanks!
you were right about rule #10 Evan. Because as we were kids that we always had think positive as a result in form that any peoples can appreciate your works and art that can think yourself as success, but for Robert Rodriguez, he always think positive when making films on his own. so i guess many of us had always have this feeling. To me, i can have both positive and negative feelings for stuff that had me to believed in
loved the "know your why" rule. completely brilliant, going to have to do some journaling...lost my way somewhere it seems. thanks for the great compilation.
A Major Groundbreak & True Motivator to the Film 🎥 Cicuit Scene. So pleased that Robert Rodriguez helped open many aspects of the creative process for many to heed and offer the many guidelines needed to carry oneself into wanting to be a Film maker and not feeling the strain of worrying about budget or failure as he helps to implement these many strategies, thus establishing a great learning curve for all to benefit and achieve from.
Thank you for editing these clips together and posting. So much respect for this man. Robert exemplifies focused determination, wise planning, and passion for one’s creativity.

Thanks for sharing. Robert Rodriquez is so inspirational. I loved pretty much everything that he covered. I love that he takes the time to share his knowledge and his experiences with others. That he wears many hats and is hands on. I am similar in that way with the work that I do. What stuck with me the most however was what he was saying about creativity. First of all i think everyone is blessed with creativity. Whether its creating something or its a way of analyzing a situation. One day I was sick in bed-I pulled out some markers and started to draw. I posted the photo of my art on instagram and a co-worker texted me saying "I see you are sick today but still have time to draw ;)" My response was "I breath creativity, it doesn't stop because I am in bed."
Thank you very much for the appreciation and for watching Nicolette. Great to know that he inspires you. Thanks for sharing your cool story...keep breathing creativity! #Believe :) #BTA440 Shine
I've worked with Robert. He was one of the lucky few at 23 yrs old to have a studio back him film. When you're a "creative" not having to worry about monthly expenses then it's easy to ponitifcate "creative flow". Mind you the studio re-invested a million to re-edit, post, color correct, and market the release of his "$7k" film.
Listen to your inner voice and if it's nothing wrong just do it, Boldly and lead as an example to live a way of life which right and build a better world for you and Community. That's how an individuality is built
Man wow another good one. I liked all of his points. But some of my favorite ones are "be different if everyone is going to television own NBC because it's less competition there" oftentimes we always want to copy other people because it's more secure and comfortable way and everyone else is doing it. "Don't wait for somebodies permission and wait for idea to come just take action whether it's writing essay, making a movie, painting, etc act first then inspiration will come.
Wow going from Danny Trejo Machete to stumbling on this. Thank you. As a Media Makeup Artist this has injected and driven me to go higher. Im definately going to rethink how I pitch the business.
Great video! Thanks so much for the shoutout (Daniel Kiselev writing), it means a lot to us! We're still waiting for the book to arrive, hopefully it will arrive soon. You're awesome.

I think you didnt fully explained rule 2 . he talked more about that in the tim ferriss show, it is more about finding a channel thats not crowded by competition. by finding a network he competet against way less people.
