Great video! I would love to see more videos of functional ways to use your planner. So many videos show how to make your planner cute, but I need some functionality inspiration!!! I hope you consider making a part 2 to this video. 🙏
Great video, Annie. Thank you for reminding us to write everything down. That’s the way my brain feels most at peace. I had fallen into the trap of having to have different sections and lists, which seemed overwhelming to me because of the way my brain works. Thank you!
Thank you for sharing! I have been using planners for a while now, but I appreciate the reminder to write everything in the planner. You are right, I struggle with what I “should” write in the planner and what ideas and thoughts deserve space in my planner. Thank you for the reminder to keep it simple and put everything in there.
Wow! This was really helpful. I've worked for many years running a salon and styling coloring and perming hair so I've lived by a schedule calendar. Now I'm a full time stay at home grandma who babysits 4 grandlittles and I love it. I could never get the hang of planning because I feel like nothing important besides the littles. Now I got it! Thank you💕
I agree with writing everything down. Thanks for the reminder, it's so important. I used to have a small note pad that I kept next to my planner at home for notes and quick brain dumps and then I would process those notes into my planner at the end of the day (gtd) and it worked so well for me. I'm going back to that.
Love this!! Sometimes I struggle with how much I should write down! Love these types of videos showing how you use your planner/system! Thank you for sharing.
thank you. This was very helpful. I don't want to see how to make the planner "cute". The only reason I might do that is if it makes me use (open) the planner more. This was very helpful in ideas to USE my planner. I carry it with me but don't even open it. Would love more helpful videos like this. Thanks.
Thank you Annie for a great video on “How to Use A Planner”. I really needed to see this because I’ve been wanting to make the most of my planner each day!
Annie, thank you so much. I've watched countless videos on planners, how to decorate them, where to buy things, so I finally ordered one and when I opened it yesterday I thought what the heck do I do now. This Step 1 video has been extremely helpful. Please make a Step 2!!!
I’m so glad this was helpful! Planning can be so fun, but it definitely needs to be functional!!! I have created several more videos and you can find the rest of the steps in my How To Plan playlist 😘
I like that you kept saying, "Write It Down!" ~ Because, I write in spiral notebooks, on spare paper, post it notes, EVERYTHING that one could write notes on, but it never occurred to me that I was doing it wrong!!! I'd rather have all of what I write down in ONE planner than the calendar thing AND ???? with planners. Thank you!
I'm exactly the same. I have so many little notebooks at work, at home, in my bag and pieces of paper and I forget so many things 🤦♀️It makes so much sense to have it all in one place. 😊
I never thought planner would be something of cretivity nowdays. Well I always had a monthly calendar and jot everything (as you said and I found this video) jot everything down. I did everything was jot down on my monthly (I don't even know how I got stuff in it). Well I also did journaling so most of my more detailed was probably in them. Than I got into BOJO (I never even knew that even existed), bullet journing. I always put things down on paper, I still do to this day. I use post it notes, note paper to put things down and stuck it on that month/or day. I useto have a desk calendar with all appt. goes on it. I do daily, weekly, journal, I think I do everything in my planner/journal. The only thing is I don't do much decorating (most of my planning style is functional). I do small kind sticker for special occasions but not over do it. Writing everthing down is a good thing. That's how I function anyhow and I guess I'm not the only one who does it. Thanks for sharing your video.
As a newbie in the planner community. This was the most and only helpful video I found and I watched a lot! I was close to giving up watching any more but glad I watched this one. I know exactly how to go about using my beautiful new planner.
I really enjoyed your video and as a newbie to using a planner, your ideas were really helpful. I’ve watched many videos and some were a little intimidating but your video was simple and easy. Thank you.
Thank you for the reminder. I see how I have changed from a planner person to being more of a sticker person. Keep this type of videos come. Great wake up call.
I loved this video. I am a seasoned planner and I love hearing about HOW other planners use their planners to manage and organize various aspects of their lives.
I'm new to planning and purchased an A5 Agenda 52 planner and am thing of getting a TN to keep in my purse. Thanks for the tips! Hoping you have a gloriously beautiful and blessed day!
Loved the video, never have seen one like this. Where did you get it? I have a Happy Planner right now. I have had a planner of some kind ever since I was 8-9 years old,and am almost 76 now. 😉
I have a link in the description to exactly where I purchased the planner. It’s from a brand called Foxy Fix and this is one of their travelers notebooks 😊
Great video Annie. Have the planner but so afraid to mess it up. Thanks for the reality check which says to write it all down. Looking forward to video 2.
Thank you for this! I'm new to planning-ish and you've made me feel so much better about writing everything down. I thought I was being silly but I've gotten so much done because of it. So thank you for the fun video!
Awesome video Annie!!! Excellent reminder to write everything down. I have joined the planner community about a year ago. I am really learning a lot from everyone and enjoy watching the videos that are filmed. It is such an awesome community!! I call my planner, "My Brain" Lol. I can't leave home without it! 😀 Take care and look forward to your videos!
I really needed the reminder to write everything down😊! So much can happen in one day, if I don’t write down things I won’t remember. Thank you for sharing a much needed simple reminder😁! Take care and have fun🤗💗!
Thank you! This is exactly what I needed right now to get out of my planner funk. Just changing my system up messed me up a bit and this helped me get back on track.
I needed some basics like this. I am just thinking about starting a planner as I have a RU-vid channel too and need somewhere to put all my ideas down for videos in one section, what I all want to talk about in another section, as well as what videos to record on each Saturday/Sunday. Currently I just have a notebook which I divided in half but I wanted to incorporate the rest of my daily life into some semblance of order and thought a planner would fit the bill. But I really have no idea how to really use one regarding daily vs weekly vs monthly. Do we just “move” things from one area to another? Still really confused on the whole idea, as you can tell. LOL.
It does take time to find a way to write things that makes sense for your brain. I watch a LOT of videos and copy anything that seems to fit my style. Over time I tweak things to my style and then I have my own system. ❤️
This is perfect Annie! Thank you for sharing this. There definately isn't enough videos out there showing us how to effectively use our planners. I hope in the next vids you can show us how to effectively use the monthly, weekly and daily pages. But this intro on note taking was spot on! Thank you! 😊
Great video! lots of good advice. I like how you broke it all down. I like to think I am a very organized person but I get started and then I fall back and don’t complete my tasks or lose focus. Your video has been very helpful and I am excited about giving this a try. Thank you, I have subscribed so I’m looking forward to your other video. Don’t stop, you have great ideas!
Thank you so much for subscribing! I hear ya about the follow-through. I am much better at writing it all down than I am at completing things. But I'm slowly growing in that area and I hope you do too!!
At work mine is open all the time and everything for the day goes in it. At home depending on the day it's opened. I totally agree I need to have it open and with me at home. Thanks and looking forward to more.
what a great video !!!! this was awesome ive been planning for years off and on but needed a refresher and yep … did the trick !!! THANK YOU ANNIE!!! Way to go !
Thank you soooooo much! This is so good. Just what I needed. I've gone through so many videos and thought I'd never find out how to use my planner. I have an at a glance weekly planner, the week is on the left page and to-dos, weekly focus and note section on left. Another video said first thing you should do is a brain dump then kind of left it there. Do you have a video on that? Thanks so much for this one!
A brain dump for me is a scrap of paper that I can scribble all my thoughts onto. Then once everything is captured I can look at it critically and organize it by task type or deadline and so on. I don’t believe I have a video on this at the moment, so I’ll add it to my list of ideas for future content ❤️
I have my daily pages too. But if I need a place to strategize, I keep a notes section as well. It's blank pages and every time I make a note, I do two things. I start the note with today's date. And I make a small entry on my daily page: grocery ads notated on notes 10/30/19. That way when I go to look for it I start on my daily page and can be directed to my notes section. Like Annie said there's not a note for every day, but it is in chronological order for easy access. For important notes like Southwest Airlines baggage rules... I notate the note + date on an index page. 💝☀🌵
Annie u are great at explaining how to use a planner ! Im great at setting it up looking all cute!! And then i never look at !! But Iv been going though some stuff and Havent been keeping up with MY planner!! I want to start doing more things! For my self etc.. So watching your vadio helped me a lot!! Thank u again!👍
I love your planning videos. They have always helped me from when I started to now that I am more on track. I am glad you are doing another series on how to plan. Thanks so much,:-) Plus you are so pleasant to listen to your voice is very easy on the ears. hehehe
Hi Annie Thanks for this video. It is so helpful. Just started planning due to new business. So now I have much more to deal with, but this video has motivated me. Thanks again. Love your videos. If you or anyone knows of any videos that can be helpful please recommend. Thanks
Oh that’s great, congratulations on your new business. Definitely keep searching for planner set up videos and many will lead you to great channels to follow. ☺️
Thank you Annie. Now I have more of an idea of how to do this. I wish I could afford the planners you have. But too expensive to have them shipped to Australia. Thank you again x
Very helpful video. One problem I have is changing planners frequently! Then I have to leave my notes and ideas behind and start over. I am really going to try to stay in the original books. I also use a Travelers Notebook.
Annie, I love the way you plan. I was wondering what you do when you have to write in an Appointment that is a few months away if you are planning month to month... Do you use your phone planner for those and enter them at the beginning of the month? Just wondering if this method would work for me...I like it and I want to try it.
I use a forward log in my planner. I linked the insert in the description box and refer to the insert in my Stalogy set up as well. I record future appointments on that so I can keep them organized until the monthly insert is in my planner ☺️
Hi! I love the creativity of decorating a planner but this was a great reminder that planners also need to be functional. Lol. Thank you for your great ideas...you explained everything beautifully💗
Great video. This totally reminds me of Jenny from planner perfect. She does this exact thing with daily planning. I see you have her inserts but if you havent already definitely check her out on IG. I think shes here in YT too. She also has a lot of helpful tips on how to plan your day out and use a blank TN insert. Tfs
Hi. I love that your videos are honest to goodness, "How-to" videos vs. those that showcase pretty planners, which I enjoy as well, but your videos are instructional and helpful. Many videos are title, "How to ....." but are really flip-throughs disguised as "how to", so Thank You! I do have a question, however. If you were not a stay-at-home-mom, would you keep two separate planners (1. work 2. personal)? Would you keep the more private parts of your planner---journaling & goal setting, for example, in separate sections or on separate inserts that stays at home? Or would you keep everything together in one notebook/planner and take the entire thing to work? How to you stay organized and productive if you have more than one planner or sections that are kept separate? Do you take the TN featured in this video with you to do grocery shopping or do you also have a smaller EDC (everyday carry) planner? If so, how do you make sure that information gets transfer and not lost between notebooks?
Your questions are so awesome that I’m going to work on a video or some videos answering this. But I did want to, very briefly, answer some of these questions... If I worked outside of the home I would probably have a separate section or notebook for work. Anytime I have more than one planner or major section like that I avoid copying the same info over and over. This way I am organized and don’t let things get lost or fall through the cracks. I have a video on using more than one planner way back in my older vids that may help with this. And my menu planning video which is recent, should answer about how I shop and when I take my planner. I hope this helps until I can do more videos about these topics ❤️
Love this I don’t have one but going this weekend to get one ,never been to michaels before so going to hit them up and maybe hobby lobby and target been told they have a dollar isle
Yikes! That’s always hard. You could either downsize and get a more portable planner. Or carry a notebook to keep notes and then transfer to you planner at home later.
I used to take it with me if I wanted to, but not all the time. I’m not in this planner anymore though. I’m in a smaller planner now and I do take it everywhere 🥰
Love informative planner videos like yours! Keep making more! Wanted to ask u what leather your foxy was? I saw the link for the boss babe kate so wanted to see if that was it? I have a boss babe Madison but my leather is not as shiny as yours!!
Oops, I didn’t even realize I had not updated my leather information. Thanks for mentioning so that I could update it. It is the pepper spice leather. Still the same size as before, the #6 ☺️
I do not use anything digital, no. I kinda like the look of things scratched out. It shows me that I had plans and that they were changed. I like to see that information 😍
I have a planner that has Monthly pages and weekly pages each has notes and lists and priorities on that page. So what do I write what, where? On the monthly page or the weekly page? That’s my dilemma!
