Jesus talked in parables and many did not understand. Watts uses metaphors to get many of his points across. If you get him, great. If you don't, thats okay too. Read further if you want to understand, or if you're content with the opinion you've made, then look no further.

However, it doesn't negate my own personal contemplation on such things as my own place in existence and the meaning of life... etc. Alan Watts described himself as a philosophical entertainer and entertain he does. I enjoy listening to him just as much as I enjoy reading Freidrich Nietsche. You're certainly entitled to your opinions but I see no divide between listening to other perspectives and reflecting on things by yourself, unless you are so impressionable as to adopt every single sentiment expressed by the speaker/writer.
I love what he says about those who walk as if they're trying to get there, and those who walk as if they've already arrived. I deal with them every rare occasion that I go to church, mainly, because I find it saddening to see so many lost souls searching outside of themselves for something that is within them. They even tell you in church, "The kingdom of heaven is within you, and he who knows himself shall find it." The moment you have an awakening, is like arriving in heaven, and everything that happens after it, is a whole new experience! It feels like being born again, because you're looking at the world with a new pair of eyes. I searched for God, and found only myself. I searched for myself, and found only God.

When I was in about 5th grade and the teacher was talking about the big bang, I said well if before the big bang there was nothing and space is basically the hole caused by the big bang than nothing must be something for it to have a hole blown in it and the whole class laughed at me, of course they have all forgotten that but I never did and now in my 50s I hear that more and more. Sometimes validation is slow to come and best enjoyed quietly within ones self. 😉
Well not for nothing, all the big bang does is explain the conceivable universe and speaks nothing to that in which it is contained with the universe being infinitesimal this is quite a bit unexplained that wouldn't necessarily be "nothing"

What is the most important thing is for each of us to choose our own beliefs and stick to that. I dont go to church and I dont beleivr in the god that is in the Bible. We have no clue of what is really out there in the cosmos. Everone assumes they know, but our small minds can not comprehend everything out there. I beleive when we die, we see a clearer picture. Ive have had died and came back. I felt no pain and I was completely aware of myself. I was accidentally buried alive when I was 6 and I do not feat death. Causr I know my consciousness will live on and believe me I dont need no Scientist to tell me what I seen and felt was not real.

It seems to me that there are those who want to explain God and really don't have a clue of who He is...it is not that we can know God completely because He is infinite but what we should do is worship Him in spirit and in truth. Jesus was the express image of God when He was on the earth. Just like the light we get from the sun and the heat we get from the sun ; those things are the expression of the sun, yet, it is not the sun because we couldn't live to directly be up close to the sun...I believe in the revelation of God through Jesus the Christ. As we get to know Him, we will see how much we don't know. "MAN" is the only biological life form that when it's impossible to debate with any other, the more intelligent biological life form. And based on our intelligence, we are not only obsessed with, but mandate there is purpose. At a time in "MAN" history when we were totally ignorant. And for milleniums that followed, even as we bacame more educated in regards as how basic physic's worked in general. Not knowing what various physical sounds, sights, smells, were when hearing, seeing and on occasion smelling the numerious various odor's. And needed purpose for them. Looked to those who were regardless of how, seemed to know aka educated more than they themselves were, and or the leader's of the pack, tribe and later civilization's. Not knowing exactly themselves, but in a position of authority and wanting to stay there, were mandated to providing an answer. Which generally turned out to be a GOD. Proof can be provided if one can remember bact in time when, somethng like thunder scared them. What was the answer when you asked someone you assumed had more eductaion than your self in regards to exactly what was that noise that scared me. Did they inform you of the phyisic's envoled that causes the noise we refer to as thunder. Or make something up you could actuall comprehend at the time? It's a safe assumption, it was the later. When I was in that situation, I was told it was Angel's doing a bit of bowling. Knowing nothing of the actual physic's envolved but knowing about angel's for a long period of time squelched my question as to what it was. And I was no longer scared of thunder.

God sent his son Jesus to save his people from their sin. Jesus who is fully God and fully human, lived a perfect life and never sinned. He willingly went to the cross where God the Father took the wrath that was meant for his people and put it on Jesus. Jesus paid the price for their sin and died on the cross, and on the third day God raised him from the dead. God calls all of mankind to repent of their sins and to put their trust in Jesus, and all that do this, will have their sins credited to Jesus and will have his righteousness credited to them. Their sins will be forgiven, and they will receive eternal life. To repent means to turn away from sin, to change your mind about Sin. A change of mind will result in a change of action. Christians will struggle with sin and they won't be perfect, but they don’t embrace and live in sin. When it’s time to face God, God will welcome them in heaven because of Jesus’s righteousness. If you die today, will you face God with your righteousness or with Jesus’s righteousness?
Each of us, from the most loving and "good" to the most evil and "bad", are all sparks of energy that the Source of All Creation, or the "Universe", created and sent out in order to experience and express itself. The first sparks were the ones who chose to create duality/polarity, in order to more fully experience, learn from, and understand its existence. Because Source is first and foremost, unconditional love, it means that each us is that as well, even if there are those who have chosen to exist and experience the total opposite of that. Love is what created us and what the majority of us are, consciously or unconsciously, trying to return to. It is who/what we are at our deepest core level. However, because Source is all encompassing, it stands to reason that so are we. The yin and yang symbol is a prime example of this. We all possess the light and dark spectrum of energy within us, and are given free will to choose how we want to embody and experience that spectrum. We were given free will in order for us to have the opportunity to choose what we want to experience, and it's our own choices that create our reality. We can choose to be an energetic representation of the light, the dark or even remain neutral. Everything is a choice, even when it seems like it's not. There are universal laws that were created in order to establish a guide of balance and foundation for us to explore our existence individually. There is one law that is absolutely absolute and can't be tampered with or altered, the way some of the other laws have been, and that is the law of One. It states that separation is an illusion, because everyone and everything is connected to everyone and everything else, and ALL is connected to the Source of All Creation. We are all just Source made manifest into reality. From the tiniest biological organism to the largest planetary body, everything is connected and forever will be.
