Even though vision doesn’t represent the PCI size like in older games, I should’ve known it played more of a factor. This explains why my swing timing with George Brett is almost masterful with his 125 vision. I didn’t know inside pitches seemed slower for players with extreme pull tendencies. For hitters with extreme push, it makes sense on why I can’t hit inside with certain players as much as outside. I also like how the information on page six is just completely outdated lol. Explains everything I need to know about this game.

Such a great point about bat speed with contact hitters. Contact hitters have some of the best bat speed IRL, they can get to almost anything and put it in play. Game logic for that makes Leiter ally ZERO sense. Luis Arraez perfect example, contact hitter, is anyone going to logically say he has a slow bat? No, they aren’t.

Just some of my opinions on this 1. This guide is extremely old and honestly with how it’s worded it wouldn’t surprise me if this was made when contact hitters were still viable ex. Only mentioning 99 as the capped attributes 2. Knowing this about timing windows I think the best hitters will be guys who have an extreme pull tendency or balanced and players with significantly more power than contact or balanced hitters that are 100+ in every stat like the new Matt carpenter being a balanced hitter against righties and power hitter against lefty and is 100+ in every attribute 3. If you know a hitter has an extreme pull or push tendency pitch to the side that the hitter struggles with ex inside to push hitters and vice versa Gunski always talks about how Betts can’t go to the opposite field worth anything and I think that’s cuz of the timing windows 4. Find your play style and use cards that fit with that. For me I like extreme pull hitters and sitting on inside pitches so I would rather use a dansby swanson over biggio despite similar stats
@juggernaut792
@juggernaut792 2 года назад
When I read it it basically talked about the effectiveness of sliders away to same side hitters when thrown away or low and away and sliders away will allow CH and CB to be more effective low in the zone - then it went on to describe changeups and good quality changeups, sinkers and sliders are meta. They described pitch counts and stuff but I stopped. Didnt see anything on cutters tho

None of this actually matters, We're just looking for answers which dont really exist because the gameplay sucks so much , One game you could smack 5 homeruns against 99 p5 randy in one inning guy quits, next game you could face a 94 fast ball and be late on it every time , Connection matters more than the actual hitting its 2022 and we still can't get amazing servers , Call of duty for example if i put my pci on another player and shoot him im going hit him 99% of time unless major lag but on mlb can have best pci and delay on swings all game you aint hitting anything

Ok this is something I’ve noticed over the years with power ratings and idk if anyone has pointed it out. It started in 20 when they released “perfect” swings and the pci changed to the three dots/diamonds you have in the center. Whichever one is the biggest is gonna be whichever result is easiest to get. Pitchers that have 0 power have the top circle the smallest the middle the biggest and and the bottom the second biggest. This year if you get someone with 65-87 power the top and bottom are about the same size and the middle is huge. And if you have 88+ power the top circle is the biggest the middle is second and the bottom is the smallest. And some ways I’ve seen this work first hand is leaving my pci down the middle and hitting a perfect fly ball on a fastball that you usually would have to move your stick up a little bit for. And the number that your power has to be at changes every year. In 20 it was 87, in 21 it was 85, and this year it’s 88. And for some reason the power numbers offline are different. (Probably bc they don’t go to 125) so when ramone told us the threshold going into 20, that 80 power would be were you saw pretty much all your perfect perfects leave he was speaking to the offline community. So I typically look for cards with 83+ power both sides, so when you parallel 5 them, they’ll hit that 88 power threshold

@taysomhill2841
@taysomhill2841 2 года назад
I always thought the tendencies and their effect on timing windows was more like this: Say the swing meter was actually a 1-100 scale, a balanced hitter's green (good) zone would be, say, 40-60, with 48-52 being "perfect". 40-47 being the early side of good, 53-60 being the late side of good, etc. And then I thought the tendencies basically shifted that in a corresponding direction. So a pull hitter's green (good) zone is now something like 35-55 with an extra point or two on the early side to still be "percect", extreme pull would shift to like 30-50, etc. And then obviously the other direction for opposite field guys. I've never really noticed it slowing down inside pitches/speeding up outside pitches.. but rather that it just shifts the window. What would be an early foul ball for a balanced hitter can still be crushed by an extreme pull hitter because their good zone has shifted. And similarly, a swing that was barely on the late side of good and might still be crushed by a balanced hitter, is now actually TOO late for an extreme pull hitter because their window has shifted so far left. Any of that make sense? Is that way off?
@OhChev
@OhChev 2 года назад
that makes perfect sense. in fact , this is a much more accurate description of how timing windows work. bravo 🗣🔥🫵🏻 edit: also internet instability will factor in at a minor level. any type of "delayed input" will! cheers
@simonstark6254
@simonstark6254 2 года назад
I think that definitely could be it. But the impression I got from page 6 that Chev was going over at the end was that for a pull hitter, your timing window on inside pitches receives an actual bonus, so like going from 40-60 for a good to 35-65, where as they would suffer from more strict timing on the outside, going from 40-60 for a good to like 45-55

They need to get top spin back into the game, that is the biggest reason contact hitters suck now. Their line drives just float, when in reality they would have top spin and get down. They screwed up top spin in 17, pulled it out afterwards, but it needs to get back in.
@OhChev
@OhChev 2 года назад
i agree they need to rework contact hitters. tony gwynn is arguably the best hitter ever and he sucks in the game since 19
@chuckervin8387

@@OhChev I was thinking about this as well, you've made a point about Clemente getting that fall over swing a lot. It seems to happen on swings when timing is on the early side of good, even a tad early. I wondered is this SDS feedback saying he's not a pull tendency so that's not the correct timing approach. If so, it makes some sense, but at the same time it robs Clemente of exit velo because they said it in the guide pulling the ball means more exit velo. Well it's hard to pull with Clemente and not get the fall over animation, so if it's not a perfect on an inside pitch (hard to do with him and his swing) he just doesn't drive the ball well at all.

I was using a future stars team build recently and lot of the future stars cards from the future stars program have lower contact (80's-90's) and higher power(over 100). I notice I hit much better with cards that have those attributes than attributes that have higher contact then power or balanced. Like you said if you're a solid player and can put the PCI on the ball consistently low contact/high power guys are the move. I also didn't know how much vision impacts timing windows. Since MLB 18 aside from MLB 19 being an outlier contact hitters have been pointless to use.
