Ding! This one was a long time coming. If things work out I should have a very big The Secrets of the Beano club video out before the end of the year. Special Thanks to @CDownInk doing a really amazing job with the Thumbnail, really capturing and modernizing that Beano feel. Dong!
My dad actually used to be a member of the Dennis fan club back in 1983. I actually still have the wallet and the badges it came with The gnasher badge still has its eye's thankfully
I recently met the other last surviving member of the Dennis the Menace Fan Club at the funeral of the third last. "Ding" I told him. As his last words before he fell to his knees before me with the last breath in his life he exhaled "..Dong"
Being in the US, my only knowledge of these Beano characters is from your videos, but I noticed that the Walter character looks very similar to US Dennis the Menace's dad. I wonder if the difference in quality between the old and new versions was due to outsourcing? Were the old ones made domestically and the new ones made in China or some other country where they pay the employees barely anything. Couldn't you buy replacement googly eyes for your vintage badge in an arts and crafts store? But maybe it would gnaw at you that the replacement Gnasher eyes weren't the original ones.
@KasumiKenshirou yea, I think that has to be it. Wherever they have them made now just doesn't have the proper material, and yes, it would knaw at me, haha. Glad you are still watching the videos 😀
I think I've got my original fan club badge stored away somewhere but i don't recall the 80 Years of fun replica of the fan club wallet being that bad. Ill have to find my original and compare them like you did! Anyway, excellent video as always 🙂
@LukeNyul I was shocked by it, wasnt until I had them side by side I noticed how bad the hair was and the really poor printing quality. Makes me think they don't have the original template and had to photo copy a certificate
@@theashtubereviews it was golden splat before it and then changed to #sobeano and then changed back into the golden splat. I’m pretty sure #sobeano was to get with the times and didn’t age well so they changed it back
Do you have any older beano issues scanned in I can look at? I want to use the beano for a school project in linguistics and political correctness but they're quite hard to find online
@danielmcgrail3970 no sorry just the ones I scsn in as I go for the videos. It's very hard to find them online. I always have to buy old issues through ebay
