@Chor - Sea Of Thieves sometimes i have trustworthy Teamates but they're not allways on when i am. So i typically get destroyed. They put me up against Sweaty Doublegunners :(
Had a toxic "friend" who would do the opposite, handle the wheel horribly without saying anything blaming me for missing cannon shots while he consistently takes us out of range and calling for the dumbest boarding calls ever. I was a noob so I didn't know what I was doing wrong, dropped him and haven't had any issues and no more drama 😎
I have enough experience where this stuff just comes naturally to me but this is a reminder of just how much stuff is actually going on during a battle
There aren’t many people that do good videos of pvp tips and most of the time they just say usless thing. This video is really well done, great job mate
Insane guide. Everything was covered down to the last detail. Beautifully done. Only thing I'd say is on the main cannon part once you're in the neutral / winning position is to target their wheel and break it so that their helm can't keep angle. But you pretty much covered this when you said: **Once you break their mast shoot the helm raising the sail** Absolutely wonderfully made.
@@Chor-SeaOfThieves I already knew everything that was in the video. But it was a nice change of pace compared to some tutorial videos because you did step by step WHAT and WHY you do each thing you do depending on the situation. You broke down exactly what you should be doing, and what you should be doing if you CAN'T do what you should be doing. Way better than some people who just give you 1 or 2 strategies that get countered and now you don't know what to do. Excellent tutorial for players who need to know what they should be doing based on what the situation calls for. I do this when I VOD review for some of the teams in LBH, and I find it to be a terrific way to explain things so that the players actually UNDERSTAND why they're doing something, rather than them just being told to do something but not understanding why they should be doing it.
@@moritzmoritz1447if you see a ball coming towards you get off the cannon, and if you are missing health... Heal. Problem solved lmao. Called common sense 💀
Grateful for this video. As a cannoneer I appreciate the emphasis on priority number 1 being angle its so true. Nothing more frustrating than grabbing cannons, turning around and your helm just raced you to the cannon and left you with picking up all their tasks.
One other reason why you should turn right at the start of a hourglass fight: on a sloop, the mast falls on the right side, which could block your aim while cannoning on the right side.
For those who are new, this is a very good video to practice and with Safer Seas just days out these tactics will work really well against ghost ships as test dummies.
Its a great tutorial even for an experienced helm although I only ever heard angle before mast, pressure is far more useful than going directions, i can talk from experience, its not a deathloop if the looped ship doesnt die which was a very funny situation
@@Chor-SeaOfThieves Absolutely. I play casual but my kid is legitimately cracked in PvP, wins a LOT of solo sloop and 1v2s, but he couldn't figure out the best way to teach me lol I needed strategic info for 2v2s, so now maybe I can actually start helping him in hourglass fights hahahha Thanks again dude, excellent informative content.
rarely do i go to the comments to compliment a video but this has earned it. fantastic editing, good information portrayed clearly, animations and pics are relevant and perfect at keeping the amount of information engaging, information is explained well enough that i am sure new players would understand. 1st person in a while to earn a sub from me after 1 video!
@@Chor-SeaOfThieves I would say I knew 90% of it but a couple of tips there may be implemented in future fights. With your permission I would love to share this in my discord for others to benefit from.
Thanks. Been playing on/off since release. This video will for sure help my sloop bro and i work as one, which is key to winning. Currently on my 9th winning streak (not counting the 1 teleport/aimbot crew)
This video was amazing I literally watch this yesterday and last night I took down a fully manned brig and even though this is meant for duo sloop if you tweak it a little bit it's easy to use it also as solo awesome job you got my follow
Yes. My duo partner watched it as well and we have been winning WAY more matches. I expect our win rate will improve even more with some more experience and practice. We did some brig and gally pvp as well and this guide works for larger ships just the same. Again, thanks. I was really struggling with hourglass PVP but this brought it all together for me as the helm. No other YT guides layout step by step what you should be doing in each scenario like you have. I’ll be sure to share this video with people who need help.
Thank you for being a good pvper and entertaining creator that isn't cheating. there's so many exploiting and modding players these days it's insane but I'm glad that we have a holy green skeleton like you to help us learn how to pvp without cheating.
I already have watched this 5 times 😂 Dude, you explain really well everything and you trully teach some things that other people don't, you videos are dynamic and fun. Loved the video, I shared it to all my friends that play SoT and they all said the same. You are just incredible brother, thanks for the advice, I got to level 72 by solo slooping and duo slooping thanks to your vids! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
this is really in depth and informative! I got my first pvp sink after utilising some of your tactics. when my mast went down before I tried to get it up and accepted it as a defeat if I stopped but the next time I rotated the sloop with theirs and managed to kill their cannon and get their mast down and repair mine! this is great you should release heaps more like this!! especially an in detail cannon guide and how to use the momentum from the ship to hit shots!!!
New most of this already but very detailed and very helpful video, really drilling some good stuff into my brain. Also, another reason to turn right at the start is because the first damage on the mast appears on the right side. If it gets clipped by a cannon ball from your left you can repair it more easily without the risk of being one-balled :)
I'll smash that sub. this is a really good video with helpful visuals. I'm a solo slooper on the regular and it's hard when you have a duo to trust them to learn their parts. it's also hard to kill the need to do everything when you're normally alone
In the loadout part, talk about the chaos and fire cannonballs. It's often great to have them in hand, using a quick shortcut to kick someone out of the ship. Helm shall have only chaos, and Cannoneer can have a mix of both. Fire, even harmless, can make an opponent panic.
In most cases if you are fighting a sloop I recommend not using firebombs. Because of how small the sloop is someone that is bilgeing will easily put out all the fire with little hassle. A cannonball is more effective because it helps actively sink the ship and make the bilge have to repair. In my opinion shooting fireballs from cannons is only useful against galleons. 👍🏼
This is probably the best ever sea of thieves pvp guide I've ever seen. Thanks for the informative, well structured and well edited tutorial, I already know its gonna help. Earnt yourself a sub!
Thanks for the advice! Me and my friend keep trying to do fof, but we always get sunk while trying. Before this our strat was to sink as many times as needed to run them dry on cannonballs
First creator that I’ve seen respond to every content, crazy to see this before u blow up because this is a super useful guide. I’ve been PvP for a while so some of this stuff comes naturally but it’s still cool to see someone who puts in the effort to name and organize every move and counter move. Got to ask is the 69 streak fr bc I think that’s a record!!
This is the best and only needed guide for sea of thieves. I wished I stumbled on this long ago! What a masterpiece. You did the SOT community a great favor! Thanks man ❤
Me and my duo have found a very powerful use for the harpoon. If the helm player can harpoon the side or the back of the enemy ship, he can use the harpoon to always keep a cannon angle on the side or the back of the the enemy ship, while preventing the enemy from ever getting their own angle. The biggest risk is the enemies sniping the harpoon player, but the cannoneer should be able to hit them if they are trying to snipe. If you get in a winning position, you can even use the harpoon to pull both ships together for an easy board, possibly even with both players (if your ship is fine of course). What makes it even stronger is that it works with any position of the wheel or sail length. Although it's much more forgiving if the wheel is mostly straight, and the sail is at half length. In that case, the harpooner can let go for short periods to heal or snipe back. The harpooner does need to make sure the line doesn't snap from the enemy ship turning the other way, but if you're not moving at full speed, it's quite easy to get another harpoon. This tactic is even better against bigger ships, as it doesn't allow them to use their higher speed to get away. It's also harder to get all of their masts down, but this technique lets you get in a death spin while they are still moving. It is difficult to defend against boarders in this scenario, because neither player is near the ladders. But it should be very difficult for the enemy to board you in the first place, because the ship will be moving at some speed, and at an angle. On top of that, the harpoon still somewhat works even if your ship is anchored, although it's much easier for the enemy to break loose then.
I really like this video. I used the one of turning your boat to the right immediately when coming out of the water and putting pressure on the enemy with the cannons (solo sloop) and so far, did at least 2 2-0 matches and a 3-0 win streak. Thank you!
Awesome! Since it seems you're playing solo sloop you should also check out my solo slooping guide on my channel. It should be able to give you even more help :)
very solid tutorial! my main helm crewmate sent me this to give me some tips for cannons and after putting it into practice we've won way more fights than before! thank you for this
@@marzipanLC Awesome. As well I noticed you mentioned you were playing solo. I do have a guide specifically for solo sloop if you'd like to check it out as well 🙌🏼
Don't forget, we canoneers are basically the boarders. Gotta keep the other dudes dead so all you have to do is keep the death spiral and use the cannons
Bonus Tip here: its also good to turn to the right, because the mast of the sloop falls to the right if it does, so u still have better movement when turning right
100% I was thinking about including that when structuring the video but accidentally forgot to put it in the video haha. I included it in my solo sloop video after realizing though 🤣
Golden sailor canons, so basically back in the good ol’ days, Rare accidentally released those where you can buy the canons for the shipwrights shop at any outpost for sale but less then a week Rare deleted them from the shipwrights shop but fortunately you can get them rn in the 5th year anniversary Rewards event in Sea of thieves rn only for 8 days left until their gone! So be quick if you want them! More into the rewards information at the sea of thieves website events tab.
I'm the helm/bilge of my crew, my crewmate is much better than me at cannons. we met a little over a month ago and we were able to get my skelly curse, so I went from 20 to 108 in a little over a month. we're becoming more and more solid after each fights. we're also already really close friends. also, everywhere I lack in he doesn't, and everywhere he lacks in I don't. we form a really good crew.
I got this game a week ago. A tactic me and my friend have thought up is the following: We put 3+ explosive barrels on the very tip of our sloop and ram into the enemy, then snipe the barrel to make it blow up as it's hovering over the enemy ship. Yes... it does set our own boat on fire but doesnt make much holes since the explosion is away from most of the hull xD
in my opinion your cannoneer should apply pressure and then try to board at the right time then u take over the boat completely cause people who solo sloop know it’s possible to do everything on that ship by yourself and it would help keep the other ship from repairing and such while you can keep applying pressure on the ship
It's best to board only when the enemy is fleeing or when they are immobilized and hurting very bad. Because if you try to board at any other times you'll basically always end up getting ladder camped and killed and then will be a player down.
@@Chor-SeaOfThieves totally right, I’ve been struggling with my teammate to get into a winning position so we resulted to rampant boarding. I get killed on the ladder almost half the time.
Turning left is also good cause mast always break on right side first, so as a wheel you can repair it while hiding from cannon shots, and if the mast falls it will fall on right so it won't be annoying for your teammate to keep pressure !
@@snakeoflordran9573 He is talking about the repair locations. First shot puts a crack on the right, second on the left and 3rd will drop it but adds a break to the middle.
Very nice and in depth guide, thanks! Do you have any other takes on when to board the enemies ship? It sounds like you only deem it useful for anchoring the opponent while they‘re trying to get away. Like most of the times when I‘m solo slooping I win (or lose) by boarding them, trying to kill them and prevent repairs. I feel like it‘s kinda hard to actually end battles if you’re staying on your ship all of the time.
If there is a major skill imbalance and you're a lot better than the enemy you go go for earlier boards to finish a fight. But if both of you are very skilled crews I recommend waiting until they are hurting very bad before you board or trying to get a kill from your boat first. Because very skilled crews will often get a free kill on you while you try to board or while you are boarded which will then put you at a disadvantage and make it easier for themselves to recover.
@@Chor-SeaOfThieves yeah! I mean I'm 400 hours in now so I knew most of the stuff, but the video is a great recap of everything and it's perfect to forward to your less experienced friends
Sending this to my friend asap. The guy can never get me angles and we always end up getting tore up. This video is definitely going to help thank you.
@MistaaMikee Now that I've decided I'm going to start making more videos again. I will have one in the works for the near future. For either brig/galleon or both. Make sure to be subscribed and I should release one at some point in the future. :)
@@Chor-SeaOfThieves ok thanks and definitely subbing after this vid. I think this the best pvp tip video out there iv seen so far. Sending this to all my friends I play with so we can start doing some hourglass.
Great video! Very useful info. I am primarily a cannoneer, and am probably among the better of the people I play with. I'd love to see one like this for Brig and Galleon!
@@Chor-SeaOfThieves Too much info at once, but i got the very basics of helming which i needed. I will slowly start adapting to them. I dont usually do PvP but when i do im a sitting duck usualy.
The homie and I have been doing one on helm w/canons as secondary and the other on canons w/ repairs second as secondary and it had been working really well for us
This shit is like a chess tutorial. Been playing the game for 3 years now and I know all this info, but damn have I never seen ALL OF IT displayed in one video. Bravo
I first thought it was clickbait and it kind of is because you cant always win but here are some really good tips and strats for beginners and even experienced players.
Im not a fan of pvp, but this video is also useful for if someone initiates an attack on you: whether you be in a sloop or a bigger boat, the jobs are more or less the same: with more players, one or two people are cannoneer, one is helm, and one is repair (this I found to be useful). if someone is attacking you, stand your ground and fight, and use these tips because it could help you win
I just started playing and this is priceless information, thank you! Solo sloop is almost impossible as a new player, just praying not to see sails or reaper flags on the map.
Bro how do you have only 1430 subscribers!? This video is one of THE BEST guides out there! For Slooping but also for just PvP in general! Thank you so much for your service sir! Subscribed and liked! Keep up the great work! However it is a little too fast please try to talk a little bit slower next time or slow down your voice in post because most of us have to rewind and watch the video over and over again to fully understand what you are saying but other than that GREAT VIDEO KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!
Thanks very much! Glad you enjoyed 😉 Also I'll keep that in mind! A good thing to know also is if you ever find that it seems like I'm talking too fast in my videos you can use the playback speed feature in the RU-vid player and change it to 0.75x or 0.5x or what not and customize the video speed to your liking :)
As a solo, i would recommend swapping the sniper for a sword. You will be called names, nooby and such, but the reality is, especially whenever you are outnumbered, a sword can greatly increase your chances of killing multiple boarders or fully killing their entire crew when you board. Instead of taking snipes across water which is a low likelyhood of connecting, utilize your cannon to kill or knock off the enemy cannoneer. Even when you are in the worst position (broke wheel, down mast, spinning chaotically) there is a single shot you can take when your broad briefly has angle. Bucket when you dont have angle. With good aim and practice you can one ball the enemy and give yourself a breath to lift your mast while they recover, plank once and get sailing out of the death spiral. At this point you may be flooding with water you and have to pull an emergency repair technique- it may feel like the water barely goes down with each bucket but you have to hit 5-7+ buckets until the water level retreats to your feet, then immediately plank the first lower hole on the bottom of the steps. By the time it has planked you will have to immediately bucket because you will be full with water again. Bucket multiple times again, perhaps 7+ times, until you can plank the next lower hole. After these 2 planks you should be able to finish the rest of the lowers repairs, then fix your wheel to make sure you arent sailing back into the fight- clean up the mast and back holes and youre reset. Happy sailing!
