Nice video showing of the wheel and some obscure racers! I saw your post on twitter and wanted to check ut out. Man, Need For Speed was one of the first racers that blew me away with its realism and how the cars had such a great weighty-feel to the cars, which truly gives them such purpose in their paths. Definitely an amazing game on the Saturn. Road Rash is one of the all time greats, I adore that series. I didnt know it was a port of the 3DO version! I finally got a copy of Sega Rally Championship and that game is blowing me away. I agree that Manx TT is pretty solid as well. I'll have to check out Initial D, Highway 2000 and the other Japanese racers. Also had no idea Race Drivin' was on the Saturn! It looks like a good and unique version of the game. Well done showcase! Great work!
Too often now, I hear people try to defend Sonic R. But your commentary was spot on. It was exactly what professional reviews were saying when the game was released and the rest of us when we tried it ourselves. 😂
Very nice video as always! Ever since you tweeted about this wheel I've wanted one just to play outrun and Sega Rally, but now I have even more bangers to put on the list, like road rash. I didn't even know it was on the Saturn to be honest. Some of these games looked like absolute shit LOL. Maybe for $10 I'll get one just for curiosities sake.
I would rate the games as follows: Hang On GP 6/10, Manx TT 7/10 (not obscure in Europe), Road Rash 9/10, NFS 8/10, Impact Racing 5/10, Sonic R 8/10, Hi Octane 5/10, Nascar 98 8/10, Togue King 2 7/10, Hardcore 4x4 5/10, Highway 2000 6/10, Wangan (did not play), Drift King 7/10, Street Racer 6/10, Formula Karts 5/10, Zero 4 (did not play), Initial D 8/10, Race Drivin 4/10.
Intersting Saturn racing games Dezm! Heard of some awful like Sonic R - this is a complete disaster have to say. However, this game brought Tales Doll character into horror history of the Sonic lore ha ha ) Road Rash, Wipeout and NFS are seemd just a good 3DO and PS1 ports. Havnt played Initial D but this game is quite popular i know alongside with Sega Rally and Daytona USA. Zero Champ Doozy is a dragracing-datesim? Thats odd but kinda cool mix :D Played a bit in Impact Racing and its too bad for shooting racers, cant say much about 3DO's Crash N Burn (played too little) but i guess tracks are too tight for such battles. Played on real Saturn system not too much but guess i need to test some games with that steering wheel accessory deafinately, thanks for reccomendations and some obscure classics Dezm. I just got the controller for the sega Saturn racers! Does it feel like you’re in an arcade? I’m trying to make my room feel like it’s an arcade! The cool fighting shooting (side scrolling) And the other shooters (rail shooters!) I also forgot to mention puzzle games like Puyo Puyo and puzzle bobble! And don’t forget the racers! I also tried to add stuffed plush toys do decorate my section from South Park Rick and morty (if you remember those in arcades!) And a foreign show from France called “oggy and the cockroaches!” I like Joey and Dee Dee!
Hard disagree on Hang on GP. The handling is smooth unlike Manx. And has better graphics/music Manx TT is severely lacking in content and has BS rubber banding AI
thanks for giving a positive viewpoint on Hang On! This does make me want to go back and re evaluate these two against eachother and try them with the wheel.
