Jung discusses the self in relation to the anima, animus, and shadow. Not a highly detailed explanation of the self, as Jung understood it, but still full of a lot of insight into the human psyche.

Thanks for sharing this content; I have listened to most of your recordings on this channel more than once and yet I keep coming to revisit the material from time to time. I've got to say that your pronunciation, tone of voice and reading rhythm are perfect... Which is something I highly value since English is not my mother tongue. Keep it up. Thanks and greetings.

Thanks man. I very grateful. English is not my first language and specially reading Jung's work. What you are doing is very very helpful. Hope that we wake up from the matrix in the middle East:)

The Self is not only an archetype. It is our True Nature...our spiritual nature. Jung can be confusing on this point.

It seems pretty obvious that the animus and anima are simple explanations of the functions of the hormones testosterone and estrogen.

I don't quite agree, as the animus and anima represent the unconscious feminine and masculine qualities within an individual's psyche, regardless of their gender. Jung believed that every person has both animus and anima elements, and their presence influences our behaviors, emotions, and relationships. These archetypes are psychological constructs that symbolize the potential for integration and balance of masculine and feminine energies within each individual. While hormones can influence mood, emotions, and behavior, they are primarily responsible for biological processes related to sex and reproduction. They do not directly correspond to the psychological archetypes of animus and anima, which represent deeper, symbolic aspects of the human psyche related to the integration of masculine and feminine qualities.
