Such an interesting video. I think it is in my personality to be hungry and constantly looking for new information, so I'm always listening to something, music or podcasts or videos as if they were podcasts, while doing other things. But I can't call the number of times when after spending too much time listening to too much content, I was feeling over estimulated and actually almost nauseaus. So, I would have to just close my laptop, and put my cellphone away from me. Only then I could found peace. It also makes all sense when you put everything in the same box: dopamine addiction. Because from what I know, dopamine is released in every thing that makes you feel accomplished, so adding another completed podcast to your day and your life would totally make you feel that way. What I also found really interesting about your take is how you bring attention to silence. I think my experience, which I exposed above, tells me about that. We, as humans, weren't made for constant noise. And as a Catholic, we put MUCH enphasys onto that. That's why we always talk about the importance of retreats. We see that in doing retreats, we actually find ourselves more than just trying to talk to "our inner world", but really talking to The One that has made us and really knows us. If you're ever interest, I recommend you looking for Opus Dei's silence retreats, or Saint Ignatius of Loyola and his Spiritual Exercises.
Got arrested today doing the hard and there for right? thing (I am self aware about my body and hate making people uncomfortable): so I took a walk naked, spitting at every person I came across. Jokes aside tho, you are speaking some truth for sure with growth often happening with or trough discomfort, and I've def. Fallen into the trap of using self improvement content as entertainment essentially. But at the end of the day it's about balance and understanding where you're at, where you wanna go AND how to get there. And for the how to get there question especially consuming the knowledge of others can be invaluable. Just make sure you don't over-consume and actually try to implement what you're hearing/reading to see what works. /sticks.
