It seems we’ve finally come full circle. Disneytoon Animations was apparently not done with their Cars spinoff franchise! After the first, TERRIBLE Planes movi, now we have come around to the sequel. And it is quite… good? Reviews seem bad, but audiences sound pleased! So with 60 TERRIBLE Episodes at our back, perhaps this is one of the forst examples of a franchise that has clawed their way to the top. Initially the petfect, awful movie but perhaps making their way up to a movie that is actually good. But let me be the judge of that! Come join us as we lean into potential American military propaganda, learning the engineering of real rescue manueuvres, and big old dramatic fire, and possibly some real heart mixed in there. This is Planes Fire & Rescue. This is The Sequel To The TERRIBLE Planes Movie…

It kinda sucks we live in a world where someone cant just make a movie showing off how good firefighters are and not have people assume its just a propaganda movie firefighters deserve stuff like this
@fusionwing4208
@fusionwing4208 25 дней назад
I dont even know how people could assume a firefighter movie is propaganda, like, the entire point of them existing is to rescue people and property from the destructive force of a fire. to be frank most movies that would be called propaganda really are just trying to show what the job is actually like :/

Because trying to make an entire movie about why a profession is good for others is straight up advertisements like brands and companies, worse a propaganda that glorifies one's job.

Planes Fire & Rescue is one of the most realistic movies produced in the cars universe. It brings a real look at the real dangers we don't see in fire. It gives a look at how we look at things in society today. The common people don't give two craps about much. It's heroes like our firefighters that are the only ones that truly understand whats at stake and this movie gives a perfect look at that.

I'm no pilot/sentient plane, but I think physics wise the waterfall refill is likely gonna get Dusty killed in real life, it'd be a mixture of his flight angle which is directly upwards resulting in extreme drag, the water filling his tanks adding weight and also causing his weight to shift backwards even more while also slowing him down due to him having to partially dip his tanks to refill them, and also water potentially entering his intake because not all water falls equally or something...? Top all of that with pushing an already damaged gearbox to its limit while under these conditions. Yeah don't try this at home

This movie had all of the potential to be something great. If the execution wasn't bog standard and it didn't end with Dusty getting the best of both worlds, it could've genuinely been a great story of acceptance and finding a new purpose in life. It's just so infuriating because it has all of the building blocks for such a great story and message, but it just drops the ball. It favors a much more predictable plot line, and also tries to satisfy the general audience by giving the happiest ending possible and completely disregarding what happened before hand.

You make some very points about this film's ending. The ending seemed fine to me when I first watched it as a kid, but watching it again as an adult, it is clear that they tried too hard to wrap everything up with a tidy bow. I agree that it would have been better if they gave Dusty a different gearbox that doesn't work as well, or if he received the custom rebuild gearbox but decided to give up racing and remain as a firefighter. Still, the fact that this film is an improvement over the first film is impressive. 😊

Honestly the gearbox story point and not making specific parts anymore reminds me a lot of Robots because that was the whole point of that movie: we’re gonna stop making parts so everyone is forced to buy pretty new things and those who can’t (the uglys), become scraps and die. So to answer your question, yes, once they stop making parts, the models who have those parts that are no longer in production basically become disabled/handicapped, sick, and eventually die.

That doesn't track, all of the Lemons in Cars 2 are literally mob bosses and run multi million dollar industries they can literally afford armies of Goons, control multiple oil rings in the ocean, and are bale to rent and live in grand hotels and buildings Lord Axel rod the leader of the lemons is literally an ultra rich oil owner They all have money and lots of it, they aren’t hurting for money they just hate the fact they’re considered outdated and low tech

Idea for end: he gats a custom gearbox that isn't race spec and that leaves him with a lower max speed but with more power making him able to be a better firefighter and finding fulfillment in his new career.

Pulaski. Its an axe with an adze on the other side of the head. Its used for wildland firefighting since it gives you an axe to chop stuff, and a adze to dig with. Think A Maddock, but with a full on axe head.

I think the issue with the ending is that Maru solving Dusty's "liver" essentially trivializes the plot. It makes you question that the Dusty's plot would've been resolved if Dusty was honest about his gearbox.

The joke is that the AT-802 "air-tractor" (the plane the MC based of) does have a firefighting variant with the same (wheeled) pontoons, and the paintjob he has at the end is almost identical to an existing one. There is a military (COIN/CAS plane) version of the 802 called the OA-1K, with weapons (10 hardpoints in total) and everything so .... there's your prequel chance.

It must be said that a liver is a digestive organ, so describing Dusty's gearbox as a liver is foolish and uneducated. Therefore, his gearbox would be better suited as a bicep.

If anything that’s why I like this one way more than the first. This one tried to do something different as opposed to the first with a main focus on racing like the Cars franchise. I like that this one did its own thing and succeeded. I wouldn’t call this movie great or anything. I definitely think Cars 1 and 3 are the best of the franchise. I think this is better than the first Planes and objectively better than Cars 2 despite me having lots of fun watching it. A way better movie than it gets credit for.

Watched this movie for the first time since it came out in 2014 the other day and I gotta say I'm really impressed with how well researched this movies feels. I wish I knew someone who had this movie on DVD because I would see a special feature where we see the team shows it's research process, how they applied this information to the cars world. There's just this underlying feeling of respect and admiration for the wildland firefighters career field which I really love and didn't really appreciate as a kid.

Being a firefighter must be one of the most heroic jobs ever. You literally jump into a fire to save souls that are in there. How could it be propaganda, we should even make these more often. Just because it has the sense of doing it for the better of the others. That doesnt correlate to propaganda. Im more tired with the absolute barbages about individualism
@yeoldeseawitch

propaganda just means promoting something without recognizing the downsides to it. being a firefighter takes a toll on yourself and some people are not mentally prepared to do a job as demanding as that.

@@yeoldeseawitch But still if all you ever see are videos about influencers and their easy lavish life. Additionally, that is all you are going to get in these age of social media then who else would do the hard job or the job that builds and contribute to the foundation of society. I had been a firefighter in my younger days, the mental toll you are talking about is just responsibility. You will fear fire but you are the only one that can save others. I understand not everyone is eligible for the job, but fear can be extinguish during the training if you have enough determination

I like this movie because my father was a paramedic, and his buddy, who saved his life, was a firefighter. They found his body a hundred yards down the road

As a helicopter pilot who fights fires, this is easily one of the BEST animated films for wildland firefighting. It's accurate, and true to the work we do. While it may not be the glamorous story that people like where someone BECOMES famous, it's much more real to life than it's given credit for.

HOLD UP I JUST NOTICED SOMETHING!!😂 I think Cad Spinner using Bob Cutlass' wheels could be inspired by the 2004 Escalade from Midnight Club 3: DUB Edition (which Cad was based on), if only Cad was red and had roof rails it would've been the perfect reference! All have 6-spoke split wheels.

Little late to the party, but the advice of "Avoid the Smoke and stay above the canyon walls" is probably because of the air. Its a little different from humans of course, but the smoke in the air would act similar to a plane as it would a human. It would starve the planes engine of air and cause it to stall out and crash. The canyon walls probably act as a sorta bowl and will gather the smoke so by getting above the canyon walls, they'd be getting to an altitude where the wind is fully helping to dissipate the smoke and where there's less obstacles to hit in the reduced visibility. That's my guess Side note: I'm pretty sure the type of floats that Dusty gets would buckle and snap off in most of these scenes, especially the waterfall scene, since he's dipping into the water, which adds a huge amount of sudden drag to the pontoons, but he's also doing it at very high speeds with floats that are, in essences, designed for slow floatplanes. I've seen Cessna's with more reinforced pontoon gear, and those are probably not even half as fast as dusty, plus they also have to slow down to safely land in general. I'm not fully sure, but I'm pretty sure.
