I remember my dad telling me about him and my granddad fishing a match on the Severn when the bore came up, luckily everyone got to the top of the bank but several people lost all their gear.

From the drone footage, Interesting to see how the raised banks focus the bore and prevent flooding the farmland.

when a rogue wave hits a coastline and runs up a tributary. Fascinating. These might be too small to be called a rogue wave at sea but it all rears up when it comes to land to see its height increase. Increased sea rains, earthquake somewhere, and probably even the temperature of the water and of course air currents.

It’s a magical experience ..years ago we took our 12 year old son to see the bore ..we managed to park in by one of the best places ..it’s amazing but over so quick ..I remember the river was meandering its way down and very low ,heard shouting than water as a huge wave came round .people on canoes in front and it rushed passed us leaving the river 12 for higher and now speeding the other way ..just fantastic

Hey there, very interesting footage. Always interesting to see the impact on a small scale based on the bigger picture of tidal movement. As you watch the energy and the power of the water you also can regnoize, that there is full grown nature - everything is in a kind of balance beside those strong impacts. I wonder how is the impact under the surface - this river must be always very muddy. Which fish like this twice a day party ?
@Capt_OscarMike
@Capt_OscarMike 8 месяцев назад
Is this a daily occurrence? Please excuse my ignorance but I assume this is directly related to ocean/sea tidal fluctuations based on time of the month, year, etc...otherwords, this water connects to the Ocean....it appears to be a lake vs Ocean/Salt water...very interesting and great camera work...

During the big spring tides the bore tends to come up river twice a day (at each high tide) but at neap/small spring tides it doesn't tend to occur at all really. The local weather conditions can also impact how big and when it arrives!

This was at Minsterworth, near Gloucester, UK, on the morning of the 30th September 2023! 🙂

Where is this, what causes it, how fast and how far does this travel?
@OskarBrennanFilms
@OskarBrennanFilms 7 месяцев назад
This is a tidal bore on the River Severn, filmed at Minsterworth, UK. It's caused by tidal water being funnelled into the Severn Estuary, which forms a wave that travels tens of miles inland, as far as Gloucester.😊

je ne savais pas qu'il y avait de tels phénomènes en Angleterre....par contre des vieux tonneaux en métal qui traînent par là, c'est moins étonnant...

What did this ?😮
@paulknightley
@paulknightley 9 месяцев назад
It’s caused by the incoming tide which runs into the Severn Estuary…the shape and profile of the estuary causes the the leading edge of the tide to form a bore

Is it increasing with hight as sea levels rise?
@OskarBrennanFilms
@OskarBrennanFilms 8 месяцев назад
I believe flooding in this region is expected to increase with sea level rise, but I'm not sure if it will have an effect on the bore or not actually. Would be interesting to find out!

NO
@Matty18795
@Matty18795 6 месяцев назад
No because sea level rise has not actually accelerated In the last 200 years. Your being misinformed by propaganda trying to trick you into believing the world is ending whilst also taking money off you to fight this imaginary threat. Take a look at Tony Heller rapidly increasing sea level

Great to see a bore without surfers/boarders spoiling agreat natural event. Can we ban them from even one 5 star (the biggest) bore each year?

Having surfers or boarders enjoying a ride up the river spoils nothing, Scrooge.
