Your flying is looking amazing. Shockingly massive improvement. I guess having experience flying various things helps a lot. Also, that F4 is the one I designed and it's still the very best one for me too. You should pair it with the RROSD V2 board. It's by far the best OSD board I've used.

samm, i'm sorry for asking a question unrelated to this video (but i do love all your vids, great education and they answer the questions i didn't even think of asking!!) but currently i am working on a heavyweight edf plane. but i have no experience in flying so i am doing everything i can to lower takeoff and landing speed, this means i am using a thick airfoil, fowler flaps, and also thinking of using thrust vectoring (pointing thrust 45 degrees downward) for extra lift at slower speed. do you have any tips at all for me? and could you explain how you got such detailed airflow simulation in Autodesk Flow Design in your video about the efficient wing? thanks up front even if you don't find the time to answer and huge fan over here!!! (not a 12 bladed fan... just a regular fan ;p) (i also plan to use a gyroscope-acellerometer, ultrasonic sensor for height measurement and a raspberry pi zero as center of command :p)

My advise is to not over complicate it. Build simple and learn to fly and crash and experiment with flaps and vectored thrust a step at a time. Then with time and practice you will have the skill and confidence to try complex things. I only used AD Flow Design for flow visualization mostly for video entertainment or explanation, I haven't used it for any meaningful CFD analysis.

Hi Sam, I've really liked the look of neato frames (especially the 5" talon), and have been wanting to get one for a while. One of the reasons I've been holding out on getting one is because I haven't seen much flight footage or feedback (until now) on them. What do they fly like? If I were to buy a frame, it would be my first build, but I have pretty much pulled apart my other Quads and rebuilt them. Any feedback or opinions will help. I really like the company, and what they represent with their products. Just looking for a kick over the edge.

I'd love to see a video similar to your RC electronics explained video, except for quads like these. Maybe go over typical motor specs, battery size, popular flight controllers, etc... Just a thought, and it would be helpful for someone just getting into this. Although this video probably already exists.

This is a really nooby question, but since I've never tried one of these racers before it's always been something I wondered. These don't typically have return to level like larger quads have right? Like if you let go of the stick the quad will continue with it's current attitude? That's what the gyro is for, holding whatever position you give it, and not to auto level right? If so, how difficult is that to learn - how was it the first couple times you ever tried?

Gavin Remme well the flight controllers do have gyros and accelerometers. You can choose to not use the accelerometer at which point your last stick input will stay it will not auto level. They're pretty easy to learn just takes time that's all.

You can choose what flight mode to use. Self leveling mode is called "Angle mode". Where your stick input corresponds to an angle of bank/pitch. Where there is a maximum angle that you cannot pass and it levels when you let go. Rate mode, sometimes called acro mode or manual mode is where the stick imputes correspond to a rate of change. "Air Mode" is just a modifier that is applied over top of another mode and it basically gives the copter increased control authority. There's no way that you could control a quad manually. They are too unstable. The flight controller controls the copter, and you tell the flight controller what you want it to do.. it's a little hard to figure out at first but once it clicks it is ultimate freedom. It does exactly, and only what you tell it do. Nothing else. A simulator is probably a great way to figure it out.

Make sure your CG is right, if not a little nose heavy (I can help you figure it out if you want) Make sure the control surfaces are going the right direction. Make slow corrections in flight. It should for the most part fly itself and you help correct it. Overcontrolling is often why things crash. Maybe attempt a straight line fly then land test flight. Pretty much expect it to crash and be pround of any success at all, and then rebuild and repeat

Would you recommend using these motors or the zmx x25s. They are about the same price. I know the x25s are newer and have more power but should I be worried about them destroying my batteries? Are these more than enough power?

Those would be awesome too! They're very similar but I encourage you to choose whatever makes you most excited. There's so many great parts out now to choose from. I do recommend a very high C-rating for pretty much everyone though

Normally with these high performance race quads, I use 1300mah 4s batteries with at least 60c and normally 75c and I also have 95c (thats a rating of how quick it can discharge) 1500 would also work but I haven't used them

Fly 5-6 batteries back-to-back with the Runcam Swift through lots of tight gaps, then switch to the Eagle, I think you'll notice a difference.

Hey Sam, I copied your build for the most part, I only change the frame to the neato 4in talon and got different motor bc i wanted the Rebel's, but I was wondering if you are powering the camera and the vtx off of the 5v from the littlebee and is that the only power the flight controler needs? I use the power 5v from the little bees for the FC but then I just used battery power for the VTx and the 5v from the VTx for the camera

Those problems are always so frustrating and often just voodoo. I had some problems trying to flash this board using my friends Windows 7 PC but then using my mac it worked no problem. The usual advice is to make sure you have all the drivers. But my advise is to try a different USB cable, and then try restarting everything, and then try someone elses computer haha. Hope it works out..

I just used default PIDs and BetaFlight latest firmware. Set min throttle correctly and get your rates how you want it and it should be good. I only run 1300mah 4s batteries with these and get around 3 - 4 min flights. Feels like quite a while when you're ripping hard and If I get through even just 3 packs in a session I'm quite satisfied.

Samm Sheperd I've been running lumenier 4s 35c on my qav 210 and only get around 1.5 minutes. Could that be because of my low c rating? Also what brand of lipos and what c rating do your run? Thanks in Advance

I always get the highest c rating possible. Even at 75 or 90c you could be pushing the batteries to their limits at full throttle. Though your battery shouldn't even be able to discharge that quickly

Sohan Sunku It's not supposed to affect it. Though higher c ratings are supposed to be able to discharge faster (give more power) and thus should be capable to shorter flight times. I use Tattu

Sufyprojectss It has a bad user interface, but once you figure out how to navigate it, the features are incredible and it has so much support and accessories made for it. So yea I recommend it.

My favorite way is to find a TPU (flexible) 3d printed mount type thing. You can print them or buy them online. Search "tpu gopro mount"

A huge and awesome part of this hobby I think is personalization. There isn't one best setup for everyone. Most quads now are already about as high performance as ever, but there is so much diversity. Every time someone asks if I recommend a quad I've featured I say: yea it's great, but there are so many others, get what you think is the coolest

I got to be honest with you guys, but that frame is very expensive. Good luck sales department. Nowadays eve the blackout in readymade cost about 45 usd carbon fiber, performance and flight always depend of your electronics.

Yea it is a premium priced frame, but would you like this of a genuine QAV-R? A huge part of this hobby is personalization and making something you think looks cool. I like those little stretched X frames and all others too but this one always caught my eye

I call bullshit. I opened my box 4 minitues ago and was not overwhelmed at all. My frame came unassembled in bags. Im sure once i get it assembled i will love it. But to tell people they send it out assembled is pure nonsense. Yours was probably assembled so you would be overwhelmed and scew the review in their favor. (Which is unnecessary cause they do have the best looking frames out)
