Part of that movie seems to be directly taken from a book I wrote - blow by blow! I am offended that he would make the demons BLACK AMERICAN, when AMERICAN mothers have never formed a team to commit such evil acts. I have known Jamaican mother/son teams to team up to steal from black american women,
People take Perry way too seriously. Madea is entertainment. Far as the last catastrophe Fall from Grace. Dude need to hire some writers it stunk. You can't successfully critique your own writing and then put on a production in 5days
@@angelatravers7290 So true. Most of those characters are from my book "A Wedding made in hell". And the storyline. But he tweaked it a little and called it his own. THIEF! Didn't offer me a cent. I'm taking him to court.
There are a lot of UNKNOWN blk american writers he could give a hand up, by paying them for THEIR WORK! Instead he seems to choose to steal OUR work, tweak it a bit, then call it his own. Yet he claims to be a great philanthropist. Charity is NEVER greater than WORK!
Ok so apparently his shows, movies, plays, etc. reinforces black stereotypes but has anyone spent a second on BET...that whole network perpetuates black stereotypes tenfold and tells us what it means to “be black.” As if being black is only carried out through certain behaviors, ideas, and mannerisms therefore creating limitations to who black people are and have the potential to be. Furthermore, lumping our individuality into a small box. It’s great we have our own network but FUCK if you’re talking about stereotypes in the entertainment industry please talk about that first.
The criticism about "Temptation" wasn't a fair one. Just because the main character contracted HIV does not mean he is saying all cheaters deserve HIV. That's a really far stretch.
The term "African American" is incorrect in most instances when referring to American citizens WITH African ancestry. Born in the US? Your an American citizen no matter what color of skin you have. Truth is truth no matter how one chooses to see it.
We didn't ask to come here. We were stolen from our land and brought here FROM AFRICA. I am African American...an African that happened to be born in America. PERIOD.
I don't understand that if he were once broke and sleeping in his car some nights, how he can justify not wanting to give ANYBODY the pay they deserve...he is forever being outed for being cheap and unfair to his employees....
I like Tyler Perry and I am so proud of his accomplishments. Anytime you reach the level of success that he’s reached, you develop a lot of enemies. Perry is witty, wise, good hearted and blessed. Leave him alone
I don’t think his shows or movies make black people look bad. Love and hip hop makes black people look bad. I can relate to a lot of Tyler’s plays and shows. I have learned many things from his plays and shows. So I’m not seeing where it makes people look bad. I have aunts and uncles that act like some of the older characters in his shows. I have seen a lot of the drama that does be in his shows in my own family. We ain’t perfect we have our kinks, but like in his plays, we learn how to come together and overcome our problems as a family.
Roosevelt ware right. I’m like i don’t see how people are quick to attack his stuff, but continue to support shows like Love and Hip Hop and Black Ink that represent us horribly. Yes i believe we should be represented better in the media. However, that does not mean we should be sugar coated, and depicted as if we do not have no flaws and we’re just so perfect. No we have kinks, we have imperfections, we struggle, and we fuss and fight as well. We have crazy grannies lol or aunts. We have, or may have known, or even know people dealing with some of the issues he addresses in his play. Those things do happen and we shouldn’t hide those things or pretend they do not exist. We should address them. Like Tyler does. He evens takes it a step forward and shows people how we overcome those problems
Charnice LaGrone I was just talking about that the other day I can't see how people would want to watch drama and false character on TV and then when there is someone that's all about truth and does movies that talks about everyday life struggles that we go through and and coming together as Gods people then and like you said it best people want to be about support drama TV shows SMH
the problem is he actively enforces stereotypes by writing those type of characters, while love and hip hop those people are just being themselves. Tyler Perry profits off of black stereotypes.
Don’t support Tyler Perry it is stereotyping us and it’s not even funny material I just ignore his material all together whoever gives them there money that’s a lesser mind to me
I'm jus sayin' I'm Chicago South side, state to the lake. As kids in the late 90's and early 2000's we had to watch the plays on vhs. The movies and shows were jus remakes. FACTS!
😂😂😂😂 lol its all false and twisted words by men. Generations and Generations of sick men who wrote that shit. Im not saying believing in a higher power is stupid. But what I am saying is for people to believe that those words in that book are 100% true and the same since day1. And was not shifted or altered by men, is crazy not to think so. So he can read as much as he likes, but that doesn't mean that those words hold value or any actual truth. It might sound logical and appealing. But that doesn't make it truely from God.
@@AllHail_PHARAOH a fool can be in the same room with a room full of scholars and u won't know he's a fool until he open he's mouth Hitler was also called great
It's amazing how she NEVER mentioned how Tyler Perry pulled that trash Oprah out of debt so her network won't tank....She tried to make it look as though Oprah did him a favor, which she didn't..it was the opposite way around. Tyler probably FINALLY realized how trashy Oprah is and got out of the contract he had with her...Yes people are ALWAYS trying to tear down Black people when we are successful!
@@naimahthomas1035 he hit the chitlin circuit all up and we came out and supported him and I will continue to support him. He gave my homegirl Tasha Smith and break so you know I love him
I just thankful I’m not the only one who finds his work trite and incredibly lackluster. He just feeds into stereotypes and he isn’t a very good writer.
“He even went toe to toe with Oprah”?! SERIOUSLY??!!! Since when does ANYONE have to bow down to “the mighty Oprah”? I like Oprah, but let’s be real...she is merely a person, like you and me, who happens to have done well professionally and has a great amount of money. And, all of that boils down to the fact that none of that makes her any better than you and I, and yes, even Tyler Perry. Last I heard, Jesus is the only one who is perfect, so if Tyler disagreed with Oprah on something, it was perfectly acceptable to bring it to Oprah’s attention. {On a side note}: As far as that “toe to toe” part, I’m going to go out on a limb here and say that because SO much in Hollywood is clearly exaggerated or even fabricated, I think I’ll just put this in the “yeah, whatever”🙄 category...
You sound as triggered as Tyler Perry did. Lol. Almost like that was bottled up for a while. Anyway no one said he or anyone else had to bow down and they never called her perfect or said "the mighty Oprah" at all. That was a reference to the fact that they ordinarily associate positively, but he happened to snap at her in that interview. Chill out.
"she is merely a person, like you and me, who happens to have done well professionally and has a great amount of money" actually what she's done to her community and others is priceless not everything is about money ,, may be inspired to be more like her in her human side instead of going toe to toe with her in my opinion
YOU have placed Oprah on a pedestal with the term "Mighty Oprah" The videos refers to her in that matter because of her success and good standing with hollywood. To go "toe to toe" with oprah would put Tyler's relationship with hollywood in bad standing, becuase of her status. And you are right she is a person. The video never said other wise. Stop being jealous of people's respect for her.
If you have nothing then your nobody and when you have a lot someone Is always gonna hind fault in you so I say take care of you and yours and be happy #!!!!!!!
It's funny that every successful black person that's makes it somehow someway here comes the b's way to many names. Why do we hate why jadakiss made a record asking the same question why
Yeah but Tyler Perry Lee Daniels and Oprah did not want to pay Monique to go promote that movie in a foreign country this is seven years after she did the movie and she was only paid fifty-thousand to do the movie and she fulfilled her contract
You know so many of his movies have helped me through many seasons and hard times I went through in my life and the movies that helped me seemed to be released at the exact right times when I needed it too. And you know his movies actually touch on issues people of all walks, colors, and backgrounds experience. So no matter if people like him or not, I really like him and all his work.
Yeah black people want there to be one acceptable type of black, but like he said these people do exist. And his stories are goodbut he do need to up the quality and spend more time on his stories. He has enough resources to do so
let me start off by saying that I am happy about Tyler Perry's success he is a force to be reckoned with. he worked his self from the bottom to the top and we all know at times that is not easy to do. all the movies that he has put out I give them all a thumbs up, but when it comes to his TV sitcoms, specifically his comedy shows, there really not that funny to me. the biggest mistake he ever made was when he decided to fire the writers of the shows and do all the writing himself. He also needs to learn how to take corrective criticism. It doesn't hurt to listen even when you think you have all the answers. I hope and pray that more success will come his way, but he needs to learn how to take a chill pill from time to time.
Roger Cook I feel the same way he did a great job picking himself up from being homeless to being rich now everybody has something to say but if he was a bum on the street then they still will have something to say people always got shit to say they never can keep the commons to themselves I’m happy for him
Not everything in this clip can be taken at face value as fact and "the full story". Sure drama happens, but a lot has changed since this clip was released. Both Oprah and Spike Lee, attended the opening of Tyler Perry Studios in Georgia just this month in Oct. 2019. And Perry even named a soundstage on the TPS lot after Spike Lee. Oprah and Tyler are on good terms.
This is in no way a "Let's Bash Perry Party", but one of my greatest frustrations with Mr. Perry has always been that he notoriously casts multitudes of the same faces in movie, after movie, after movie. This is no shade..., since I, too, work behind the sets in the industry. But in saying that, why not give the "average" man and the "average" woman an opportunity to take home a check also, being that more than half of those usually casted by Mr. Perry are already financially set? This comes with the deepest respect to Mr. Perry and is criticism yes. (but constructive criticism); Ironically, I did not go searching for this video. It was on my news feed upon logging on. I have never worked for Mr. Perry; nor do my comments reflect personal or professional disgruntle.
While I'm disappointed in some of the things Tyler Perry is alleged to have done (like refusing to give writers union contracts), I feel much of the criticism is unwarranted and may be the result of envy?
It's weird because his movies & plays are targeted at mainly older black Christian, church-going people yet he's a dude in a wig and dress. If you watch his plays then you know they sing gospel and talk heavily about the bible. It's odd that so many of them dislike gays but don't have an issue with what he's doing
Cheetah they do I worked with a black woman who wouldn't accept her own daughter for a lesbian . was a fan of Tyler Perry and told me he was gay ... yet cut her own kid off
I found out recently that the bible is against what Tyler does, but people who call themselves Christians seem to make excuses for actors, politicians and lifestyles. They are either don't read their bibles and do what they read or they're just posers.
Tyler Perry made it writing his own Scripts. now they wante to unionize him, change the writers. let Tyler Perry do what he do. he made it like that. the more money you make the more they want to take ,and the more haters you get. Tyler Perry do what you do. let the people have it say and we say we love you Tyler Perry.keep on doing what you do.
Reason be?? The majority is just judgmental & bad mind because of the dude's success that never came over night but he worked very hard for. Ppl will be Ppl.
If Tyler doesn't want to to sign union contract he shouldn't be bullied into doing so. How Tyler spends his money and who he spends his money on is his business
I am proud of Tyler Perry and will continue to support him. I know when I watch his movies, I am not going to hear cursing , not going to see nudity,do you know how refreshing that is, usually when most of the càst is black there are big drug deals going on. His movies are not about DRUGS !
I think you should get to know people before you throw shade. Get the whole story and highlight some good things. I do not have a problem with you highlighting issues, but ask the subject for their spin on it for the truth is a three legged horse.
I don't care for Perry's work but it seems like the most of the people complaining about him are women. Black women at that. To me it validates my theory that black women just cannot be happy. Sometimes well enough is well enough. Perry makes all these movies and plays that glorify women so you would think black women would be happy with that and they were for about 10+ years. Now they have turned on him and scrutinize his every move looking to pounce on anything. They want him to tell his stories their way rather than them creating a platform to tell their own stories.
Spike Lee has some stereotypes but Tyler Perry portrays all dark skin men as bad and light skin women as sneaky. If the black man isn't bad then he either needs a black woman to keep him honest or he becomes a bad black man. Both are successful but I think Tyler Perry makes movies for black women that hate black men.
I don't feel different about him because his plays and movies have reality meanings to it how do his shows make black ppl look bad when you got all these ratchet shows on VH1that make blacks look bad but they worship mess like dat and Tyler always talk about God in shows so thats major points I see nothing negative he is doing
Tyler's writing and directing styles have fallen to lower levels of vulgarity. Please Tyler, if you are listening, please, go back to your earlier style. People need to be uplifted!!
Yes, he is to worried about pleasing certain PPL, spike Lee was right about him. It's time to make movies that is not beating up blk relationships, and stop all those all stereotype movies, blk man always treat?why? Can't we see movies showing a BLKMAN in a positive LITE. WHITE producers not going to do it, unless they think it's going to make a big profit as usual. So question? Why OPRAH and Tyler didn't get along, yes too much big ego
Thing is, Tyler Perry DOES NOT write his material; hence the reason some of his former writers are upset. He has over 100 writers in his network, but he gets credit for writing the material u see because anything a writer writes while employed by Tyler Perry Co. is considered "written by Tyler Perry"....
No offense like Tyler Perry but his tv show scripts suck honestly they r dry and he needs additional writers for sure!!!!

He sounds like a control freak. Also, any producer should know that a variety of writers is needed 2 create great material. Even stand-up comedians utilize writers.
Nicki Swift your info on Tyler Perry's treatment of Mo'nique omitted quite a bit of the story. He and Oprah were not responsible for the downfall of Mo'nique. In point of fact the one to blame is her hubby/manager and Mo'nique herself. In the years that followed her Oscar win she had repeatedly demonstrated a "Diva" like behavior. For more info to back up my statement watch "The View" episode where she talks with Whoopie on her so called "blackbalding" and pay particular attention to Whoopie's reaction to Mo'nique's claim to being a victim of the Hollywood machine. Also look up Jawn Murray's video on his RU-vid page where he criticizes her actions while on the set of a Christmas movie special,(he backs up his comments with a letter written by the producer of that movie), she made in I think 2014. I could also advise to simply google Mo'nique and there you will get even more details on her relationship with Netflix and much more. It's a real pity because Mo'nique could have been a power to reckon with if not for her hubby's poor management of her career.
He has no motivation to change his style. His movies make money. As long as that keeps happening he will not change. This is also why he doesn't take criticism well. He thinks if people are watching it, it must be good.
Stop hating on someone that God has blessed and give him his props. He came from the bottom and made it to the top and you all are trying to make him out to be a bad guy because you do not have the talent and the money he does. He believes in God and God blessed him so stop trying to bring him down...get yourself together and maybe you can be in the same spot
You don't force anyone to pay you the salary you think you deserve. If you think you are worth more then prove it by finding someone else who will pay you that.
Crabs in a bucket. Tyler Perry has not disgrace the character Madea. I am happy the character is alive. Monique is off the chain. She blackballed herself. Informative, but I still love Tyler Perry and Oprah
Elton Grimes he allegedly fired staff members and threatened to pull his shows off of TBS after the airing of Boondocks episode "Pause" on Adult Swim. And if you've never seen it, you are missing something 😂
Smh! Everytime always got something negative to say when someone is on top!!!! Let's keep it 💯 THIS MAN PUTS PEOPLE TO WORK!!!!! folks you hadn't seen in 10 years!!! End up in a Tyler Perry film!!! I know they say Spike Lea did it first...but Mr Perry has past Spike!!!! I'm not a big fan of Spike Lee in my opinion some of his movies just don't make no sense to me...anyways I respect anyone who puts our people to work! And some are doing very well...I think he makes good movies..if you really watch there's a message in everyone one of them.... Then you have these idiots saying he's only in it for the money damn right he's in it for the money...duhhhhh don't you work for a pay check! Smh...
Sanders if the actor already has a name he pays them big but actors he find himself barely makes anything. His movies are based on black pain. It’s 2020, it’s time to change it up
The fact he gives Black actors & crew work is fantastic but you don't want just any old thing put out there especially if it's not a good look for us. Nobody's hating they just want him to do better.
word I don't understand I think it's the dress aspect people can't get over eddie Murphy and Martin did nobody said shit and like you all said he could do a lot better sometime I feel he goes overboard but for the most part when he makes the plays and tv shows people keep saying stereotype I don't think so I think he hit a lot of stuff on the money some movies have to do with a mother who was sick and had ungrateful children who didn't realize what they had till it was gone "big happy family"
he also tapped on old people not being able to collect their retirement income after years of hard work where black people through a rent party "laugh to keep from crying" one where a woman put all her trust in a man for him to divorce her and kick her out of their house "diary of a mad black woman" "a fall from grace"a lonely old woman falls for a con artist duo mom and son stealing her house and leaving her broke the list goes on he OD sometime but he has true messages it's not stereotypes it's real life shit he touches on now the oval and sistas he needs to revamp bad
I don't think that we should show the other side that we have issues if we have issues with one another then we should come together with each other and discuss them
Wow.How sad that some famous rappers can show Black women as less than others races while calling them the B word. Next some of them give glory to satan and you all are not brave enough to attack them. Pray for Mr. Perry if you all really think that he is a horrible person, and you all are so perfect. Who is casting the first stone?
uuhhhhhm must agree with the character Madea, he is really not clowning the elder of the black families, down south Louisiana we have three types of GRANDMOTHERS, there's the character he plays "Madea" the weed smoking, shit talking, tell ya some thing ya need to hear bluntly, feed ya help ya but prays outside the church ..there's the praying sweet, suger coat everything, let things happen in the name of Jesus will fix it grandma, or you get a combination of the both, but this one doesnt sugar coat to much, sit in the first row big hat wearing in church, but smokes and takes a drank after...he is just made it a character cause it made money like all the rest of the people who made it..ijs...people are diffrent you just have to see things from what he's trying to put out there from m has s eyes
"He who is without sin cast the first stone". "Before plucking out the splinter from your brothers eye, first remove the plank from your own eye." If we could practice those two things alone (self included) I'm thinking this world would be a much better place. Sigh, and yet after 50 short years, I'm thinking humans would find a way to screw that up too.
I have to disagree about Tyler Perry's plays having no meaning. In his plays he talks about turning to God when you are going thru hard times. All of the characters sings gospel songs that are uplifting and has a positive message in the end of the p!ay. His Madea character stands up to bullies and disrespectful people. He gives positive helpful comments about how to handle situations that people are going thru. You may not like it when his Madea character makes fun of ashy knees, and making fun of very dark black people, and threatening to shoot people. But let's face it, there are people in this world like that. He is just trying to give us true characters that live in this world.
Tyler Perry, In the midst of your enemies I wish you even more success. He should never bow to his critics when it comes to his artistic expression. He writes what he wants to write like it or not. You can never satisfy everyone, therefore don't try. The arrogance that some of you display is beyond comprehension. We all live to do the best we can until we die, motals.
Ohh! I LOVE Tyler Perry and his Madea movies. They make me laugh out loud and it's hard to find movies in this day and age that can do that PLUS be clean.
No, opinion of Tyler Perry has not changed - at a time when many Black actors were not receiving mainstream work, he kept many Black actors working and eating. His Madea character is a quick cash cow for him when he needs to pay bills. Every movie that is made is not expected to be an Oscar contender nor every TV show expected to receive an Emmy but Perry almost singlehandedly created a working formula for success by using his same crew of actors - Tamela and David Mann, Cassi and LaVan Davis, and the actors in the Why did I get married sequels. Perry is certainly doing it his way by keeping the unions off his projects but he is also doing good things in redistributing his wealth. Issues? Of course! But I will not judge his methods because he is just one man/person trying to succeed in a world dominated by White male Hollywood predators and politicians - now go and judge that!
😲😲😲It’s no joke being on top. They come after you. Tyler Perry has help many in his community because of his Madea role. It’s always those that’s don’t do nothing, complaints the loudest, and how they read so much of their insecurities into Tyler Perry’s success.🤔🤔🤔
I love Tyler Perry movies and still do... I watch movies to be entertained, I never take movies or television personal. I do think that his movies have a hidden message in them but is that a bad thing??
No! He is only human. Empowerment and employment is done from his heart. My Madea made us happy and kept us laughing. I feel no shame... I feel elated to introduce to the world the the endearment of MADEA. He introduces concept we can embrace through character education. I thank Tyler!
They did have a dispute about the directing of his movies. Oprah had suggested to him that he shouldn't direct everything himself, try letting someone else do it for you, but Tyler Perry wasn't having that, as mentioned in this video, directs everything himself. Now as far as him and Oprah not being friends, I don't think that is true. It's just a Veteran (Oprah) giving advice to a friend (Tyler Perry). Oprah was trying to suggest using some of her producer and directors, and he said NO.
If his tv shows are so bad y does he hav so much series/seasons. Ppl does find fault over the most petty things when there is more important things like being homeless, hungry n jobless happening around us
In most of his prior interviews, he was mentioning that he had a rough childhood and adulthood.. and his scripts and movies might be the reflections of his life's experiences and observations. That's what movies are for. They allow writers to use their creativity and imagination based on their life experiences and observations. The more people get to the top, the more they get criticized... Go Tyler! Ignore the haters! Take care of my Ethiopian sister, your wife, Gelila Bekele...;)...¶:
Tyler Perry has worked hard to get to where he is. Tyler Perry understands faith and how it can carry a person to prosperity. He has planted seeds of prosperity in his life and has allowed the harvest to be gathered. My opinion about him has not changed. I admire him and hope to see his continued success.
Alton Rodgers of course he is...everything about his life screams closeted gay man. I have an uncle just like him. He dives himself into "churchy" things hoping to camouflage who he is...
So many half truths and hating. These are definitely not legitimate facts. Just purely gossip, which the average person likes to hear. He's a talented man who's not perfect. We all have faults!
Tyler Perry is a truly gifted man to write the movies and the characters... I admit I have laughed so hard watching his movies that I almost p'd my pants, BUT I also have cried with the characters. I'm a born again Christian... I truly believe that Tyler is able to bring blacks/whites together in a believable manner that touches those who are NOT racist... and brings Christianity, love, pain, humanity, real life events, drugs, etc and he shows how God, Jesus, and you can help save yourself... I don't like plays... but I've watched and purchased every movie.... I would love to meet Tyler and thank him for sharing his gift that God gave him.... he's definitely touched my life. May God continue to bless us all with Tyler Perry movies.... he could do my life, I have the old timers no racial mixing, being molested by family, having a mixed child that part of the family don't want, depression, and much more that is all true. Yes he did.when its all said and done.He can say he provided alote of jobs and opportunities for people of color and other nationalities.I hope that he continue in good nature being positive and influential.✌
Yea I really don't like how perry and the gang played Monique. I'm also surprised you guys didn't discuss the gay rumors and him having a surrogate beard
The man is a gifted writer, owns his own company and is wealthy....As long as its legal he can do what he wants, write what he wants, produce what he wants and give money to what he wants. The only thing shady here is people want to force their will on Tyler Perry. Oh and I hate unions too so I dont fault him there.
Does anyone else get irritated when they say "African American"? That's like saying "go back to Africa"! We are not from Africa! We are American citizens and still not respected enough to at least be called Black American. Me? I am from Philadelphia, not Africa.
No Tyler Perry has brought light to all walks of humanity and cultures in life. Laughter is medicine for the soul. And He definitely not only makes you laugh but His work is food for thought that touches your soul. Everybody needs haters and that's what most everyone that discriminated against Him did.
No. He is not...he has talent but he squanders it on pride but you are entitled to your opinion because Madea was clownery at its best. I know NO black women who talk and clown as foolishly as that character does...black women are STRONG, Proud and ELEGANT. Period.

Don't hate the player hate the game. It's obvious Tyler Perry made a business move by letting the writers go. Hollywood considers Tyler Perry Studios a direct threat to their position in the entertainment industry. So they do what they do spin lies. Oh what a tingled web we weave when once we practice to decive.
I got so tired of looking at Tyler, a 7ft man in a dress, Now Jamelle is right about him, Black women raised this nation and it's nothing to be laughing at
