MizterNice - The system never understood the youth. They tried to, so they can sell to them and squeeze money out of them, but never to actually understand what's behind it.
they said it would rot peoples heads intense doses of ecstasy 10 years they will be cabbages they claimed WRONG ONCE AGAIN im ok living proof of that!!!!
Glen Booth Although it should be said with more and more clean synthesis routes being closed by outlawing precursors, more and more crap enters the synthesis process. What you get today isn't really good E anymore.
Looking back, the controversy this song caused in the media was hilarious. By the time they caught on to the drugs references it was too late. Up yours Daily Mail!
This is crazy. Earlier this year I came out of a coma in April I was in it for 2 months. And this song was on my mind in the hospital. And now I’m listening to it. It’s crazy. I love it. Proper tune. Xxx
I was a personal trainer at this time ( as well as a podium dancer for MOS and gardening club) sometimes I had to do kids parties and seeing all the under tens singing eeees are good did make me smile
UK 🇬🇧 in the 90’s was an epic time to have witnessed. I was 7 when this came out in Manchester . I remember this was blaring everywhere, also my folks house parties dancing to this, happy times for many, no phones, no internet, great music 🎶 😊 🎉
I have only just appreciated how clever these lyrics were! In 92 I was only focusing on one of the stories in this song!! But the geezer is a clever guy!
My dad was born in 68, wasn't intrested in music in the 90's, but said he loved this... Mainly cause it got to number one even with 'havin' e's are good'.
Still a banging tune to this day - just a shame you will never hear it in someones house ever again absolutely blaring on old KenWood stack system with the subs banging just like you did hear it back in the 90s growing up haha !!! Timeless track right there guys .........
What everyone does t comment on in the genius meta of the lyrics To this day it’s fantastic - bands like wetleg take the piss but this is so much BETTER
Synth wave resurgence in the 2010 was decent. A few good artists at least. Chilliwave as well had a good run for a couple years in the early 2010s. Other than that yeah, music has pretty much ran its course. Was good 👍
Yes ! Also the playlist was yet to be divided into strict genres . You’d hear House , techno , acid, disco, hip house , rave , breakbeat , garage, electro all at the same venue on the same dance floor . Sometimes even the same dj!
Oh my Gosh!!! Your SOOO Right!! We just got to be really thankful that we were part of a life changing ERA. Labrynth,Dreamscape,Helter-skelter, Obsession,Fantasia...... The list is endless of an era that will never be repeated!!! BIG UP ALL THE OLD SKOOL RAVERS!!!!!
OMG!!!! After 30+ years I have finally FOUND this track!!!!!! I've been desperately searching for this, all I remembered was: "Ah ha ha ha?!!" And I thought the lyrics were "Edgerbert-something?!!" I thought I'd never see this again, I also knew that this track was English made as well....Search over, playlist forever!!!!
I'm born in 91 and discovered this some year ago. Sad that we don't get this kind of music anymore! Such a banger! And E's are still good, just gotta know where to get the good stuff
I can’t believe that this got in the charts, let alone get to number one!! Anyone can decipher that the song is about the use of ecstasy!! The same thing happened with Cigarettes and Alcohol by Oasis. Advocating cocaine use!!
From the bottom of my heart - I'm so bummed I missed all the fun during the 90's... I was born in 91, and don't get me wrong, theres a lot of cool stuff going on, but seems like the 90's had something special that got lost over the years. To all you 40-50 year olds out there, fucking lucky bastards!
Cheers dude, we had a riot, no dancing holding a phone aloft, just tunes, endless summers and good times, the music gripped you till 8am and beyond. Early 90s were the best, Italia house techno, early rave and dance. We organised massive raves without mobile phones or social media! You couldn't do it now, everything is organised and discussed online and it's all monitored. A DJ, an MC, a set on some pallets, several hundred lads n lasses in a field or warehouse, that was us till dawn.......
This Song is A combination of the Prodigy and the Bitmap Brothers. Although the first weren't around at the conception. One of the best songs of the Shamen, IMO.
Leeds Leeds Leeds., Yeah!!:-Phwoar!:-Nice one mate:-she really got yer going and aroused.I wonder if you ever saw the band live. Then it really would be arousing. James
I always remember as a kid my dad would randomly sing out “eezer good eezer good he’s ebeneezer good” and I wouldn’t think anything of it as he’d always be singing random songs. When I got to about 15/16 he must have stopped but at the time I wasn’t conscious to the fact. Now I’m older and know the meaning of the song I can see why he stopped saying it as much as I got older and wiser 😂
MDMA was used by Psychotherapists in the USA back in the early 1970's, apparently with good results. These programmes than got shut down as the reality of the FBI Drug Prohibition hit home.
Anyone mentioned here, that this is just very good track? With nice sounds, guitar riffs, vocals and samples, .. this is just damn good song as it is. No matter if it is about E's. The song is just damn cool.
At one time (for several years) Jerry Sadowitz (staring in this video as "Ebeneezer Goode") would spend his Sunday going through youtube and getting videos he was in, taken down even if he was not an owner of any of them. Music videos, talk show appearances, conferences, every single on of 'em. . He was the original copyright troll, although not motivated by money.
It was so cleverly written that a lot of people still don't get it. One way, it's about this guy called Ebeneezer Goode; another way, it's about ecstasy: "E goes by the name of Ebeneezer Goode. E's friends call him Eezer, and E is the main geezer and E vibes up the place like no other man could. E's refined, E's sublime, E makes you feel fine." I mean, come on. But even fans think the only E is in the chorus. Cannot believe that Mixmag tried to get this banned, LOL ;) BBC were ok with it though
I did MDMA for the first time a couple of months ago and I tell you, best decision I ever made, such a good experience and so this song has now become one of my favs!
Hi G on a Mission., Yes,it was in 1992 and 1993 that they were so well known! I have no idea where you were living back then or how old you were.I was very fortunate to see the Shamen LIVE at the Live Pete Wardman (afternoon) Radio broadcast from the Virgin Megastore,Marble Arch,W1 (along with Pauline Henry who handed me the Sony prize).I also have an interview between Mr C and Judge Jules from 1994 on my 25 hour Metal tape archive. Take care and Enjoy. James
My brother did CGI for their videos with William Latham and computer artworks before they shut down the company. Got the original Shamen tree animation on VHS, the blue screen stuff and some unused graphics for the groups other tracks.
my god if anyone else complains out ''the new generation'' YOU RAISED THEM. Maybe you should have shown your kids better music? Jk, Your just getting old if you think todays music is dead. Actually look for some underground nights and you'l see proper parties arestill alive
As a 13y/o in school, I was so proud of the fact I knew this word-for-word and could sing it in time to the music perfectly. Sadly I remember doing it during a Science class when the teacher was out of the room. To think that's not even on RU-vid or Facebook!
+Ken Moss Yes, a Scottish band but the singer in this song is Richard West - aka Mr. C - he's from London hence him being rather good at the Cockney accent ;)
This reminds me of the old days trying to hit record and play at the same time just before the song started on the Sunday chart show, Life was so much easier then.....
My friend wrote this. It was written as a joke to see how easily the bbc censor could be by passed. The guy in the top hat is Gerry Sadowitz - one of the funniest comedians around, but he’s unbroadcastable.
So that's his name. He seems to be dressed up as Bobby Beausoleil of the Manson group. Theres a pic of Beausoleil in top hat, with cane and dog and curls and striped trousers
Sadowitz. Superb lyrics. One of the most beautiful girls ever. What more could you want? When they did it live on TV, C said "Anyone got any underlay?" When asked what it meant, he said "Rug reference"
Ffssss im 20 and grew up listening to this song as it’s one of my parents favourites...but i never once cottoned on as to what it was about. Just read a vice article explaining it and cant get over how clever it is ahaha. You just don’t get that in music these days... think i was born in the wrong era🙄
I'm Hip Now...What took so long to hear this joint...All new to me, and elated to be hipped up by House Music Defined Recordings Crew out of Los Angeles, Detroit, London!
They said this dance music thing was just a craze it would pass burn out and be no more by 1998 how wrong they were ehh!!! Now 24 years later dance music is still going strong and this lot made that happen they unlocked the door, fuckin hat off to the lot of them for avin the balls to release the track what they new would be criticized but also loved only one wish thoe bring back the lill-fellas with MDMA printed either on the capsule or tablet form 1 of them 15 hours of pure ecstasy fukin banging!!!!!!
Вы тут пишете о "неделе осведомленности о наркотиках. Я из России .Впервые услышала в 90х.Мы тогда танцевали и мало кто понимал смысл слов.Ребята ,расскажите о чем речь?
