Hey Heimler, wasn't the Boxer Rebellion backed by the Qing empress Cixi - rather than a rebellion against her? I thought it was the Taiping Rebellion in which the Qing got help from the British and French to put down the conflict? The boxer rebellion was a rebellion caused by Chinese nationalist extremist that killed Christian Chinese and raided foreign embassies. That’s the rebellion where French and the British assisted the Qing in defeating for them and taking care it. The taiping rebellion was just a civil war that hurt China and made it easy to imperialize it
