Icon is a ripoff! Was on it on February 17th-24th. Over priced on everything. They nickel and dime you every way they can. It’s all hype and it ain’t worth the hype. Save your $$$.
I will be going on my third cruise this summer. As an adult I have been able to travel to various countries and U. S. cities. I am so proud that more people especially us (Black people), can afford these types of vacations. As children our vacations were visiting relatives in other cities, and visiting free or less expensive attractions. As adults my family are able to take our children, and parents to places we could not afford growing up. Now our adult children are starting to travel within the U.S. and abroad. Hopefully, we have planted the seed of travel enough that they will do the same for their children.
I definitely agree! My first vacation was my honeymoon! That was my first time out of the country. Ever since I made it my business to do at least 2 vacations a year. Mixed in with 3-4 day close to home trips! My mom didn’t understand because she’s from that generation that believed vacations were for doing house chores. Took her on her first cruise which was Disney, now she’s going, going, going sometimes without me! Lol
Loved this video - your girls were so excited!! It was great to meet you on Virgin in December. Icon looks great but a hard pass given the prices. You can get a week in the Haven, Retreat, Explora 1, Yacht Club or a Virgin suite for half that … and all great experiences. But I will reevaluate in a few years when prices come back to earth - looks like a great ship!
I'm still in awe over the price of this ship when compared to the rest of the Royal Carribean fleet. Even more so when compared to even Carnival's newest, biggest ships. To put things into perspective I just booked 7 staterooms (3 balcony, 4 interior) for 14 people on Carnival Mardi Gras (6-days, early summer) for $11K.
want o try the Mardi Gras or Celebration. However, the real question is, what rooms did you book? I would never pay it, but they booked a family/child friendly suite in that same area. Hot topic if you have kids.
Mardi Gras and Celebration are ok, but nothing compared to Royal. I did have a good time, but it is really nothing compared. Food, entertainment, ship, service all are so much better, why its called Royal!!

$12k for your room? When did you book? I booked a Suite and only paid $8500. That was for 2 adults and 2 kids. Booked shortly after it was open when announced.
If you can afford it- go for it. I am all for family travel. My kids being 11 and 13 though I just don't think its worth it. They flat-out told me they would rather go to Alaska. So we are going Aug 2025 for my son's 13th birthday. I booked to conceive balcony rooms (Celebrity). My package included wifi and drinks. It is just under 14,000. But we go on trips maybe 2 times a year (by plane) and maybe 1 more to the NJ shore.
I spent $20,000 for seven day cruise with Norwegian Bliss last year, $12,000 was for the trip itself for me and my wife and our daughter the other $8000 is for gambling 😂

We are getting on Jubilee in a week and internet, drink package, Hibachi are all much more affordable I had heard that Royal can nickel and dime you these days but we haven't been on Royal since before covid

Unfortunately Starbucks never included on any ship. Oh. A cost for kid camp? Oh. I get it. That was your cost for extended hours over the 7 nights. We Always get the photo package. It’s great compared to buying per pic. I mean $179.99 for all pics? Let’s go. Yessss. Celebration table. Arcade $100 but the screen said $79.98 🤷🏻♀️The supper club 🙌🏼. Playmaker’s 🙌🏼. Oh. SOOOO from beginning to end you spent well over 20k. 🤯🤯. It's making memories. I get it. But DAMN!! for seven days and only visiting the Caribbean. My opinion...it's definitely not worth it. But the kids will remember it FOREVER!!! that's what's important

I would like to see a video on the least expensive way to cruise especially on ICON. That video would interest me because it’s more relatable. Include an excursion that’s fun and affordable at the same time. I got to say this is an awesome video and love your transparency for the cost of your family’s trip.

I have a family of five If I had the money I would do it but currently to rich for my blood. Actually me and my husband just got off Anthem of the seas this morning. With Icon being so expensive my adults kids decided to book Carnival Jubilee in August instead. I will be on Icon one day but no where near in the future unless some how I catch a deal and schedule don't conflict with my adult children jobs. I am happy you were able to afford it.
