No, I absolutely do not agree with this bus being scrapped. I think this could've been used for revenue service and it would've been cool to have a bus like that.
It is ridiculous to scrap such an amazing futuristic bus and a waste of money to procure it and then scrap it like that. Might as well not even make it in the first place.
Not the first time we see a story like this in SG. Refurbished C651 had a similar fate with not even entering revenue service once. I’m glad 4002 still had the chance to run for about 6 months.
Aiyo, at this point LTA is wasting their money and history. Like that bus looks so new yet decided to scrap it and lots of money down the drain. LTA should even preserve buses so they can save money and still can maintain the preserve buses instead of replacing them.
Should have at least use it for short distance service or service to places that not many people board buses. Atleast they can benefit a little than to waste it like just like that. Am not a bus enthusiast but this just makes me feel sad seeing a futuristic bus to scrap.
@@glitchFan2428while this maybe true, look at the discrimination we transport enthusiast face because of some. Anyway, they are clearly wasting money, look at the Scania K230UB premature retirement.
At this point I'm not surprised if LTA is just burning money at vanity projects and useless crap like this, and scrapping those too once they've served their 'useful purpose' like sweeping them under the rug and hoping no-one notices
Even if people do notice, Singapore doesn't have an accountability culture so there's no point. The most I can do is make videos like this so the public rightfully knows where their tax monies are going
From a commuter point of view, I'm glad this bus didn't get introduced to more bus services - I don't think a third door would have had such a significant impact on boarding/alighting times that would justify the seats that it takes away.
fair enough, however I think LTA likes this idea of sacrificing seats for a third door, most of the new bus models being released now have 3 doors and reduced seating capacity as a result.
I think I see what you mean, as based on my experience, the 3 door setup does work for bendy buses and (when crowded) double decker buses, but not for single desk buses.
LTA (Lousy Transport Authority) is literally wasting money rn. This bus only had 1 year of revenue passenger service before getting converted into the LTA smart bus. Now it’s reduced to scrap metal. Hiya… when is LTA gonna learn…
If it was the only one of its kind, then I guess it didn't make much sense to keep it around. Seems very wasteful, but hopefully any reusable components were saved first.
It's an awful waste of taxpayer money. It could be argued that it's impractical to keep a one-of-a-kind bus, but at the same time, it could still be converted to a training bus or like in the case of SG4003D, sold to a private bus company. Heck, even keep the bus as a testbed for new technology.
good point, although it's not completely a one off, the engine and transmission and even the general bodywork can be found on other buses in Singapore.
Lol back then when 4002 was on revenue service, me being a regular commuter of svc 901. I took it everyday to the point that it made me feel bored of it at one point. But now this bus is gone as a wasted project for future Singapore transport purposes. Thank you 4002, goodnight.
such a waste, why do they need to scrap it... The bus is still functional.... Even if sg dont want them, surely it can be sold Malay, better than wasted a mechanically well bus.
Pap gov is all about spending spending; especially taxpayers’ money. The pap run town council in grinded away multi story carpark lots markings just to repaint, wasting residents’s maintenance fees, perfectly fine slated roof tiles of multi purpose hall replaced by plastic sheetings, spending money necessarily
Unfortunately a demonstrator bus would be expelled from service if it failed its trial. Unlike SG5999Z, I don't think SG4002G passed its trial. Otherwise, we would have seen more A22 3 door buses on the roads like the A95 3 door buses
@@glitchFan2428 personally, i felt that SG5999Z passed was bcus the bus itself was built to be favoured by the public in 2016 as a cool concept, this is just my opinion 🤔
is nice and clean beutiful bus but in 2002 the sever bus number is 156 and at 2016 sever number 901 and 2019 sever number 190 guys commant i well tell you guys ok guys bye
I dont think it was mentioned in the video, but since 2017 it has already been deemed "wasted" when its engine was taken off the bus for conversion to the concept bus. Honestly 4002 might not be useful in the long run considering that it is merely a low-entry small capacity bus (unlike the electric low-floors of today), but i do feel it could be sold off for preservation, for the future to admire. Scrapping it might be worthwhile from an economic perspective but the heritage of SIngapore does too.
I heard about the engine removal thing but couldn't find any hard evidence to support the claim so I left it out of the video. Although at the end in the scrapyard it does really seem like the engine was removed and other things installed in its place. Funny because at the 2019 event I asked the person manning the exibit and was told that the engine was still in the bus and it's fully functional... Sus....
They should convert to a hybrid bus cause it does look like a electric or hybrid bus and in spore there's only one hybrid bus after its mercedes citaro eco friend got despawn.
The lasting legacy of the SG4002G is the 3-door MAN DDs, which is really bad legacy looking at its overall utility (or lack thereof). If we looked at this bus in this perspective then it does deserve its fate because this third-door proposal is just very poor thought out. Unfortunately Citaro Hybrid won't be far away from the same fate, if no willing buyer.
Hmmm so it's like the "root of the problem" for the 3 door craze eh... I don't even know if citaro hybrid can ever be re registered since it's now in the brown plate deregistered vehicle scheme
@@glitchFan2428 I am still amazed how LTA accepted MAN's 3 door DDs. One of the basics for three doors to work in Singapore is step free access, and even that didn't work in modern London. Perhaps the new electric SD proposals would get the third door right.
@@glitchFan2428 from what Ive heard the problem with SG4004B is that extra 0.1m which, while seemingly insignificant, poses a significant challenge in reregistering the bus due to that extra length becoming a technical and legal liability for the bus and there is no way to chop it off so....unfortunately it fell into an unfortunate loophole which wasnt encountered by other buses (A22 COMETs, SG4003D)
@@SGZStudios yeah I think I mentioned about the bus being too long in another comment somewhere, it's all hearsay and I haven't been able to find a reliable source to quote so I won't be putting that in a video anytime soon 😅
Really wasted, this was a bus which had such a promising future (and a design that has never been replicated nor will it ever be). Sad that the only remains of it are the parts of it owned by various bus enthusiasts as well as in the form of a model
What the heck?LTA scrapped the bus?Nothing happened to it or not full lifespan?LTA stop wasting money and just preserve it and do not put buses into junk.
I'm an outsider but just convert it back to non-demo; don't know why they need to scrap it. Not environmentally friendly with the waste of perfectly good bus.
I really find it ironic that this bus got scrapped even though it has 3 door which is what lta intended to move on isn't it? Like now there are some buses that also have 3 doors running also for SD.
The problem is that they have that much bloody money and they don't know what to spend it on and that's why they can discard good buses and roll out newer ones. What a waste.
One thing i've saw in Singapore 🇸🇬 most Construction workers are transport in back of a truck 🚚 like in any 3a world country. Why Not used these bus to transport the Construction workers
@@glitchFan2428 they did de-register it, but Mercedes changed the rego of the bus to the word 'DISPLAY', possibly gonna keep it there or use it for smth else......
After reading technical specs, I just realized that single deck buses here in Singapore engine's capacity is quite large comparing to double deckers'...
@glitchFan2428 Really..? I thought I read 12L somewhere before, slightly larger than the single deck... If its the same powerplant, wah, imagine how inefficient it'll be considering the higher loads it'll have to handle...
@@silcosilva both the SD A22 and DD A95 have the same MAN D2066 LUH-32 (Euro V) and MAN D2066 LUH-51 (Euro VI) engines, so in theory the single decker should be a lot faster.
@@silcosilva Yes, same. Thank you influencers. And then they also managed to get in operators that run them at 20km/h because of EWT and OTA. Think Ferrari running on Paris streets. And then they wonder why they are filling in such a huge deficit...
This bus can shipped to Malaysia for Causeway Link, Rapid KL and Selangor Bus because it is too waste for scrapping, overall conditional is looks good and brand new
I swear this company literally scraps buses after being in service for about a year, our Australian companies just transfers our old b10ma’s to charter companies so we can still ride them for special services
No, I absolutely do not agree with this bus being scrapped. I think this could've been used for revenue service and it would've been cool to have a bus like that.
@@glitchFan2428 true, but it is highly unlikely that most trial buses passes their trial. however, we now see a pattern where a trial bus operates 2 services. SG4005Z went from 851 to 800, SG4007T went from 990 to 282 and occasionally 96, SG4010H was rumoured to have been spotted under training on another route apart from 3. this is recent information at the time of the comment btw
