The opening round of Formula 2 was an absolute bonkers affair, with a few surprises and plenty of excitement. However, amidst all the chaos and drama, there were some clear signs of which drivers might impress this season, and which ones are facing an uphill battle. Marcus Armstrong and Callum Ilott give their take on the start of 2023.

Suggestion for the camera battery, perhaps try looking if there’s a dummy battery so that u can plug it in for the whole episode

I'm obviously biased for this opinion, but Maini maximized a lot out of the Campos considering how it finished last the previous year and despite him being a rookie on his debut, in short, before that race weekend, he was underrated and overhated

Campos as a whole were clearly very good this weekend. Boschung’s performances prove that as well. Both drivers were up there. It’ll be interesting to see how they perform at other tracks and whether this was just a one off. Maini had a great weekend though and definitely outperformed expectations, and deserves credit for that.

I'm not sure about that ART car. They qualified 1-2, and Martins isn't exactly gold dust... something strange there. Also the Campos car looks weirdly strong. Boschung got a P1 & a P2 and Maini got lots of points, despite him being quite frankly a pretty poor F3 driver just a few months ago

I mean Martins was one of the main opponent of Piastri when they were in Freca, having Alpine dump him made him lose 2 or 3 years. He was probably one of the best youngsters at that time, it's just that without money or endorsement you can't really do anything in feeders series. Otherwise this Art seems extremely fast, in race pace it wasn't an annihilation of others during saturday or sunday but Martins was out and Pourchaire simply in control. We'll see next week, mp should be better, i'm starting to be scared for prema though. But they were so dominant 2 years before that i'm not gonna complain too much.
