May also be good to mention that the Sigma FP was used in the upcoming Avatar sequels. It was used when the A cam was to big to fit in spaces they needed to go into.
🤘Makes sense. The original BMPCC and BMMCC have been used for years as crash cams in movies. The cost of five or more of these on a large production is peanuts. I’m most curious to see the footage (underwater apparently) from the FP in the new Avatar movie.
So I don’t know if they actually used the FP for the production. I know the cinematographer talked about his personal experience with it. But I am not sure if they used for the movie.
Cool to find out as I have watched Halo TV series here in NZ. I enjoyed Halo as well…. Interesting I can mount my fp on my shoulder or face…! Cool…. Thanks Laurie NZ.
Love the video,FPis a power house of a camera!- I haven't watched the Halo Series but I'm sure it wasn't too difficult to color match both cameras. Cheers!
Nice Video...as usual...still on edge about fp...in my shooting style I will need a 4TB ssd to produce long concerts in CDNG...but on Gimbal could be worth the try...it is all depending of the price of an used unit... Greatings from a airplane to Cagliari Italy for some vacations...S5 and DJI mini 3 pro so will make some video probably maybe post something... Yours Fil
One would need a hell of a computer to handle that much DNG RAW footage. I have an FP and use a Ninja V shooting Prores 4:2:2 because while Cinema DNG is amazing to grade, it takes a LOT of computer and time in my experience. I thinking of getting a Sony A7 IV for stills and continuing to use the Fp with the Ninja for most video. Open to all and any thoughts on this though. I'm not a pro in the experience sense and am still learning the ropes.
@@JamesCohenCaravan No you need to take the hdmi raw out from FP and feed the data to the Black Magic Video Assist and you will get a BRAW file but I think probably Anson can answer you better than me he is the FP specialist in RU-vid...I am actually more in audio and multicam concert musical clips productions...less in gears tech talk...
One thing to keep in mind about the first-person shots in the Halo Series: they were HEAVILY augmented with visual effects so I’m not sure how important the FP’s image quality would’ve been in this scenario (although that could suggest that it was even more important to allow for V Effects artists to work with the footage) But nonetheless, this is so dope! Really loved the series. Great Video, Cheers!
I was going to say, it's definitely even MORE important to have raw 444 data when using vfx. And colors are far more likely to be pushed to extremes to match ambient lighting from augmented visuals. Couldnt be a better use case for the FP, given its weakness of dynamic range wouldnt come into play as much.
everything I do is edited in Davinci Resolve 17 currently. it handles CDNG and BRAW and I can do all the editing and color grading in the same application.
hey is there a video that shows the best style to use for or how to edit in final cut pro? i'm super new n don't much at all but i am becoming a huge fan and interested in the fp's capabilities
Nice find. Pretty sure they shot RAW otherwise, why didn't they get some Sony camera with AF ? Also as they used BMPCC 6k it tells me they want best possible footage to match the ARRI.
