In this video, I review the Signature Fitness Hip Thrust Machine. This is a residential-grade machine that looks very similar to the commercial-grade Nautilus Glute Drive Machine, but is it remotely close to being as good? I’ll cover shipping, assembly, critiques and more.

Nice review. I had this machine but got rid of it because the range of motion really isn’t that great at the bottom of the movement. Also, as you mention, the belt doesn’t get tight enough. I really wanted to like it but it wasn’t worth the space it took up in the gym.

Thanks so much! Sorry to hear it wasn’t a good machine for you. The stopper could be removed but that would only increase the ROM slightly. The next time I use the machine, I’m going to put the Hip Thrust Pad under the belt and see if that increase the ROM some, but I think the most important portion of the movement is the top 1/2.

@@pinkypromise111 no, wish I could. I think you have to spend a whole lot more money for the better machines that are higher off the ground and allow for a better stretch at the bottom. The hammer strength one is a good example. I wish Fettle Fitness made one of these.

Hoping to see more reviews of non-Powertec stuff. They do have quality equipment but aren’t really innovating much and have a very slow trickle of updates on their line. I did want to do a follow up update here that I bought the Fagus H standing hip thrust machine online as I was still looking for a good machine for glutes after selling this one. As I said previously, this signature fitness machine really was not good, bad range of motion (that’s everything for any price of equipment worth buying) and the belt system wasn’t designed for a good range of human waists. So, the standing hip thrust machine I bought was cheaper than this and really does a much better job. I was impressed. Would love to see reviews of items like that. Lots more affordable pieces coming out lately and way more competition for the budget market.

Great review HGHR! I got my powertec levergym and leg press based on your reviews. I've been looking into brands like signature fitness and syedee. They seem to offer a lot of value for the money. The syedee belt squat with the red frame seems to be a great belt squat for the money. Would love your opinion on it (and a review, even though that might be asking for too much lol) since you also own the Rogue and had the SquatMax MD. I think these companies are somewhat overlooked. I'd kill for my content about their products. The prices are just too good, I'm just not sure about the build quality and feel of the machines.

@@HomeGymHacksandReviews The levergym, with the leg extension add on, is the main piece in my gym. The leg press was great and I held on to it for 2-3 years but sold it because it took up too much space. I have my gym in a spare room that doubles as my home office so I'm very tight on space. I do need a quality leg machine though. That syedee just has too good of a price and small foot print. I'm defnitely adding this signature fitness hip thrust machine to my list though. Mine was supposed to be delivered by UPS but the driver did not want to handle something so heavy so I had to go to the plant to pick it up. Also there was so much dust on the inside of it and every item was damaged in some way from scratching against other metal parts.

Can’t beat the price! Good thinking by greasing the pin. Since the weight horns are bolt on, could you shim the bottom of the horns where they meet the frame by 1/16” and then tighten them back down to add a very slight angle to the horns?
@HomeGymHacksandReviews

I would like there to be a greater ROM, but the biggest benefit comes from the top of the movement. I could remove a safety, but that would only give me an extra inch at the bottom; smaller plates won’t give me greater depth over the ones I’m using.

@@HomeGymHacksandReviews I just finished putting mine together. 1st, they sent an all-black model. Nice. 2nd, mine has the belt squat attachment. However I'm putting this against the wall, so I probably won't use it. Having it attach to the back is understandable but the footprint becomes huge. 3rd, I think they switched the belts up. I am 6'1 and have a 32" waist and I get it tight enough where it doesn't fit. I also do not bottom out on this machine. The belt is thin though. 4th, no metal border in the box, but there was 1/4" plywood surrounding the pieces. 5th, the footplate is different. No rubber cover, just a diamond pattern steel plate. Dimensions seem similar though. 6th, I compared the steel thickness as best I could to my Hydra rack. The rack is thicker. I'd guess the machine is 12 ga. steel which is fine. Overall this seems like a crazy good price. Lever action is smooth, back pad is comfortable, range of motion is great, assembly took maybe an hour. The worst part was getting it into my house and down the stairs. Seemingly similar models go for $500 - $3000 and it's hard to imagine them being significantly better. It's not a complex machine.

I dont do this exercise but my niece mentioned it to me as the exercise she does all the time. She would love this machine. Dropped from $1,000 down to $400 has got me worried as no company is gonna lose even 1 dollar if they don't have to. Do U know why the decrease in price? Also, she is small like 105 lbs. at 5' 2, do U think the seat belt would be a problem for her? Signature Fitness is the company that sells 3X3, 11 Gauge steel Power Racks for $750, where REP sells the exact same rack for around $1,200 or higher and Rogue, well around $1,600 or higher. Goes to show U the mark up on just the racks REP and Especially Rogue are implementing. Then U got companies like Sorinex and Arnesal pricing their racks so high where a working man would have to mortgage his house to be able to afford, but they are not home gym companies, so they get a pass. Thnkx for your help Great Review If I am looking at a product I watch 3 Reviewers and then make my decision to buy or not. @bobbyhunt3009
@bobbyhunt3009 Год назад
@@HomeGymHacksandReviews Thnkx, I'm gonna show her this machine and I'm sure she will love it. Signature Fitness has a chance to take off in the home gym business, offering High Quality equipment for Extramly Reasonable prices. If they have enough backing to get their name and products out to everyone then they could cripple companies like REP, FRINGESPORT, POWERTECH, TITAN, and even ROGUE. A well known pro athlete like Mike Trout, Patrick Mahomes, etc. needs to jump on board with SF and do a lot of commercials for them and put up $5 miilon-$10 million of their own money as an investment and then SF will be bigger than REP and all the rest of the companies except Rogue right now. Rogue will be the only company to withstand the SF onslaught as Rogue has the richer class person locked in as customers but that's only around 5%-10% of the population. The other 90%-95% of the people are ready for SFor another company to step up and amaze them. In the same sense REP could do the same but they need to polish the Quality of their products a little to compete with Rogue's finish products. Wouldn't it be fun to be the Head guy at SF, REP, etc., right now? Done right a company could take over 90%-95% of the world's home gym customers but they will need to spend a few million first or attach themselves to an investor (preferably a pro athlete) who can spend that kind of money but honetly I don't see any of the home gym companies doing that. I tip my cap to U as a reviewer, so go ahead take a bow and tip your cap in return. U deserve praise as U have earned it. Top 3 reviewers in no particular order stand as Gluck, Home Gym Hacks, and Coop at GGR. People out there, that's the only 3 reviewers U ever need to watch and then U will have all the knowledge of home gym equipment U will ever need. Take Care

At 330 pounds, it didn’t cause me any undo stress. If you place a Hip Thrust Pad, Yoga Mat, etc., under the belt, that may make it more comfortable.

Great video as always - I see that Syedee has one for a little bit more on Walmart currently. It has a bar (and I think a belt option also) as well as band pegs I believe. Also seems like it has two platforms (one diagonal and one flat). Do you think that would be a better option than Signature’s model?

I don’t get a huge stretch at the bottom either. The exercise feels most beneficial and most difficult at the top of the movement. However, to get the fullest ROM possible, make sure your belt is tightened all the way: on my model, there are two adjustments (1 on each side of the belt).

What's your opinion on having this in a small commercial gym setting?
@HomeGymHacksandReviews
@HomeGymHacksandReviews 9 месяцев назад
I’ve seen this model in some small commercial gyms and personal training studios. If the 360 lb max weight capacity is observed, maybe. I don’t think the rubber cover on my footplate would hold up, but it’s no big deal if that comes off and I think the new model has a different footplate. If you put this in a commercial facility, please let me know how it goes.

Agree, Also I've notice the commercial grade Nautilus Glute drive has a max load of 360lbs. How realistic is loading 360lbs on these machines anyway? belt attaches not to the bar but above the bar causing the belt to ride higher. The pivot point of the bench is too close to the bar allowing you to cheat the movement by pressing on the pad with your back. the foot plate is a little low. It's not a bad rip off of the nautilus glute machine, but flawed.

Overall thoughts on this equipment after ownership/use and time?
@HomeGymHacksandReviews
@HomeGymHacksandReviews 9 месяцев назад
I sold a lot of equipment recently, but I kept this machine for a couple reasons: 1) My wife wouldn’t let me sell it. 2) I like it much better than using a barbell, smith machine, and I even like it better than the Squatmax Hip Thrust Option I switched from grabbing the handles to the cross-pipe as it takes some pressure off the belt and feels like a more optimal hand position. A lot of the critiques remain the same: I think a bigger footplate would make this better. It’s decent quality for the price - like I said in the video, a notch or two below Powertec. Not a lot of resistance in the bottom of the movement, but very good at the top.

The one shown on Walmart has a diamond plate design on the footplate, shows a belt for the strap around the waist, and apparently shows an integrated belt squat with a weight horn on the rear which is interesting cuz I didn’t even see that before purchasing.
