Silence may also be considered as a negative statement, for example when something important needs to be done and your co-worker remains silent instead of confirming what needs to be done. Silence should be used wisely. It is also capable of escalating an existing conflict.

Why balance is needed. When being attacked, I go to silent mode until the other person “dials” down a couple notches. I understand your point however, my mother used it as an emotional manipulation tactic.

Yes, silence is very powerful. I am mostly silent in meetings, so when I do speak people pay attention. Until this video I never understood that it was a powerful tool. Who knew?🤩

I use silence in a physical way. I remove myself permanently from anyone or thing that intentionally attempts to disrupt my peace. I also refuse to address ignorant comments. People know what they are doing to provoke you. You are not obligated to explain why that's inappropriate or sleuth their motivations. Silence for attention or punishment is manipulation but silence to preserve your peace is resolution.
