I'm missing the "do you want to bribe or blackmail me?" "you'll know when you drive away with broken legs ...in your brand new Porsche" or something. It was hilarious but I can't find it anywhere.
@@Idran I find that the quality of Simpsons episodes declines gradually after Season 7, but 8 through 12 still have a lot of really funny moments worthy of being called "classic" IMO, even if the episodes themselves are of lower quality.
@@IdranMost people would agree that seasons 3-10 were the golden years of the show. Considering the show has been going for over 30 years, I would say season 9 falls under classic Simpsons. That's my view on it anyway.
I think he wants bigger sums like in the millions you give him a stack or sack he's not going to know how much it is but if you openly say it he's gonna take it
100%. I worked for a NSW state government department for 21.5 years. The fine print in you signing to work for them is the gag order that they place on you. If you go against the grain, you're screwed.
@@mc5967And The Simpsons is (in part) responsible for a lot of the fear-mongering perceptions of nuclear power plants. Nuclear power is an essential part of the solution to climate change, and we are foolishly ignoring it due to said fear-mongering.
Homer made a safety inspection report that was high stacked , they did not pay attention to it till, 20 years later. thats how they care. they take a while to pay attention.
3:35 It's a shame they zoomed it in the old episodes for newer broadcasts since the original showed a ton of money on the table where now you can only see a tiny amount since the picture is so stretched out and zoomed in. Makes the joke not land as well as it used to but still funny.
that last clip 💀 reminds me of a tiktok impersonation of how cops write books: "each day organized crime finds a new, sick, twisted way to make money....and each day we find new ways to catch 'em..." meanwhile how the ex-mafia guys write books: "the cops? ohhh yeaaaah, love the cops, always took our bribes, hell, our entire operation wouldn't have work without the cops on our side!"
If The Simpsons is an accurate parody of American society, then the highly repetitive theme of bribery is a searing indictment of it. Nevertheless, it’s hilarious!
4:55 The real hilarious part is the idea that there'd be an exchange of cash instead of an order for thousands of the politician's books or just hiring a "consulting firm" that _happens_ to have Bill Clint- I mean the unnamed politician on their board. Don't worry, though. He doesn't take a salary. He just gets a bonus at random times for no reason whatsoever.
3:38 - 3:40 Couldn’t resist commenting again. Counting those stacks of bills on the table, and assuming those are bundles of twenties (with 100 twenties per bundle), that could come to approximately $74,000 USD in early 1990’s money. EDIT: 4:02 - 4:07 Also noticed about four of those bundles were stuffed in his pockets. Assuming those are bundles of twenties (with 100 twenties per bundle), that’s about $8,000 USD in early 1990’s money.
Let’s be honest. Ignoring the horrible investment feedback from his advisors, Mr. Burns must have EXTREMELY frugal money habits to have so much available for bribes (and a high power legal team still willing to defend him). By the by, if he’s running a nuclear power plant, would his proper title be Dr. Burns? I’m assuming he would need a Doctor of Philosophy in Nuclear Physics. If I’m wrong, or if there’s more to it, anyone please feel free to correct me.
