"You may not kill the same way twice" is an interesting caveat to add. I wonder how that would have impacted the original story.

"...and you may not kill the same way twice." Honestly, that by itself makes this version of the death note very interesting.

The animation, the color palette, the music, giving me 2000s vibes and I’m loving it 🥰

They actually did a version of this in the Simpsons comic Treehouse of Horror. Except it was Bart who found the Death Note, Krusty was Ryuk, and Lisa was L.

Now I just wanna see Milhouse in the Misa like role.

These 41 seconds are better than the entire Netflix live action.

To those who don't remember the rules of the death note. Here's a little refresher. Death can only occur to those who's name is written in the notebook when two conditions are met: the writer must know the true name of their target as well as have the image of said target in their head as they are writing in the notebook. Meaning. If a person name is John Doe and Doe isn't their last name but the face matches, the death will not occur. And if John Doe is the true name yet the image in your head doesn't match, then death will not occur. This happened after Light tried to kill one of Ls body doubles think he was L. If a specified cause of death is not written after the name in thirty seconds., the person will simply die of a heart attack.

Best part about this, they don’t even need to increase Lisa’s ego for the part. Heck, they may have to DECREASE it to make it work!

I just wish this was a series and not just a short

To shift the art style to one this clean for a tree house of horror episode segment is dedication to a bit that I must applaud.

At fist glacé one may thank Bart would be a better fit in the role of the Light However once Lisa’s character is analyze she’s perfect 1. Lisa is a loner (at lest most of the time) 2. Lisa have a habit of pushing her views on others 3. Lisa tends to think she is superior/better then those around her 4.Lisa seams to get Easily Annoyed by people in general

just from this clip i want this studio to just take over Simpsons for good, i'd start watching it again with this animation

Shoutouts to anime versions of various Simpsons characters in the background, specifically Disco Stu on the left at the end there.

After years we finally get a Simpson's episode that doesn't suck? What a time to be alive.

Should definitely do a series with this art style or maybe even both and do a series story on the two worlds. Would be fantastic as this art style looks unbelievable.

The way her voice raises in curious delight at "you may not kill the same way twice!" is just too adorable.

I'm going to give this a chance. I see the potential The Simpsons are trying to do here by paying homage to Death Note and getting the original animators. Look I may not like a whole lot of Anime but this looks decent enough. I just hope it doesn't fail. Also I think if they used Bart as the main character in this Treehouse Of Short short then Lisa, I would assume it would get better feedback in my opinion.

And the saddest part is that this will be the best Western Adaptation of Death Note. From a comedy series. As a short.

As a huge Death Note fan, I'd actually love watching a full sequel series like this. "You may not kill the same way twice" especially could bring some interesting potential.

I've never even watched Death Notes before. Hell, i'm not even watching anime at all, but i still want to see this episode. Seeing Simpsons in more "humanish" style is interesting.

Death NOTE rules (some anyway) 1) The human whose name is written in this note shall die. 2) If the cause of death is not specified, the victim will die of a heart attack in 40 seconds. 3) If the cause of death is specified, you have 3 minutes, 20 seconds to fill in the details. 4) This note will not take effect unless the user has the victim's face in their mind when writing. Therefore people sharing the same name will not be affected. 5) Anyone who touches the Death Note can see and hear the shinigami who it originally belonged to. 6) You lose all memory of the Death Note if you give up ownership. Though only if you have used it; if you have not, you will remember. 7) You can regain your memory by touching the Death Note but will lose memory again unless you own it. Memory restoration can be done four times per Death Note. 8) Only six Death Notes can be active in the human world. A seventh will be inert until one of the original six returns to the shinigami realm. 9) Gods of Death can see the true names and lifespans but are under no obligation to inform humans. 10) You may trade half your remaining lifespan to a shinigami in exchange for having your eyes upgraded to shinigami sight. 11) Relinquishing the Death Note also undoes the shinigami eyes deal. But lifespan traded away does not return. 12) You cannot use two different pages for writing a victim's name. Though the front and back of a page count as the same page. 13) Any clippings taken from the Note hold the power of the whole note. 14) Anything can be used to write so long as it's legible; blood, cosmetics, ink, lead and so on. (Its unknown if using a page as printer paper works) 15) You can write the cause of death and then add names later. 16) If a human purposely writes a name wrong four times they will die. 17) A human will be immune to a Death Note that has their name misspelt four times in it. 18) The human who uses the note goes to void upon death 19) Humans selling a Death note for monetary gain will die, along with the person who bought it. 20) If two notes are used on the same person at the same time, the time of death the owner writes takes precedence 21) The pages of a Death Note do not run out; even if it looks like a finite book 22) If the book is destroyed, you retain memory but the shinigami is no longer perceived and returns to the shinigami realm. 23) People under 3 and over 80 are immune. 24) Shinigami steal the lifespans of victims, but humans cannot. 25) A human with the shinigsmi eyes cannot see their own lifespan and those other death note owners. 26) Each death must be physically possible. (So no shark attacks on the toilet) 27) Victims cannot draw pictures of people that they've never seen. 28) Victims can be made to write word-for-word a message written in the Death Note. But it must be something realistically possible for them to think. 29) Shinigami die if they save a human life by killing whoever is meant to kill them. Their lifespan goes to said human. 30) No matter how realistic, drawings of people do not work for the shinigami eyes. Sunglasses and half a vertical face face acceptable for seeing a name with the shinigam eyes. 31) A victim can be controlled for 21 days before the note kills then. 32) If you write "dies by disease", you must allow realistic time to elapse for said disease to take effect; otherwise they simply die of a heart attack. 33) Aliases don't count as true names. Conjure) Its unknown if legally changing a name will affect what is seen by the shinigami eyes; but since the human in question has chosen that to be their real name, it likely does. 34) Shinigsmi CANNOT inform humans about other notebooks in the human world. To do so will be met with fatal consequences. 35) Shinigami are obligated to stay in the human realm until the first human who picked up their Death Note dies. Or gives up ownership. Observation) Shinigami attached to notes can be swapped; so long as a human and two notes are involved. 36) Even examined by the finest forensic technology, the note is indistinguishable from human world notes 37) If a victim is interrupted while under the notes orders, they die of a heart attack instead. 38) If accidents and suicides are chosen to kill a victim, they will be negated if others could end up dying. Therefore a heart attack will happen instead. 39) You have 490 days to keep ownership if you lose or have the note stolen from you. 40) You may lend the note, but if you die ownership transfers to the borrower. 41) Thieves become the new owner if they kill the note owner 42) Shinigami have a guide book for the note, which they are only allowed to tell the contents of to humans. Lending it is a big no no. 43) Shinigami aren't the cause of all deaths. Humans die naturally. 44) You cannot kill a shinigami with the note. Shinigami have tried, particularly when in a foul mood. 45) Spare notes are meant to be turned over to the shinigami king, but he can be tricked and bribed into letting spares to be kept. 46) Shinigami don't know everything about the note. You have to experiment to find out the note's limitations. FAKE RULES 1) Once you use this note, you must write a name every 13 days or die yourself. 2) Destroy this note, or make it unusable, and anyone who has touched the note will die.

Simpsons have really stepped up their parody game

Lisa is indeed a person who hates killing people on the surface, but actually writes a lot of names in Death Note.

I think part of the fun of this segment is gonna be seeing how much the rest of the Simpsons world is transplanted into this style, what with the various shops of Springfield in the background, Sheri & Teri cameo, and already seeing what Homer, Marge and Mr Burns look like.

If you manage to read under where it states the "no killing the same way twice" rule, it says "due to supply chain issues, 'DEATH BY FALLING AN(vil?)' is no longer a part of this program"
