I want to point out that if you only focus on the first nine seasons yeah Homer is a fantastic father. Probably better than 70% of real fathers. But in later seasons he shows a high level of neglectfulness and pettiness towards his wife and children. To the point where I wouldn't ignore the first couple of seasons but he definitely deserves to be in the gray.

You forgot mr. Burns had an actual son, voiced by Rodney Dangerfield. I would've put Homer and his dad in the grey area. Yes Homer loves his kids but he is very irresponsible and chokes Bart. Abe was always putting Homer down as a child. Also you forgot Snake. I would put him in the grey area because he's shown to love his son but raises him to be a criminal like him.

Exactly. His name was Sanjay. A deleted scene in Season 8 actually would have killed him off (they were going to give a car to any alien who showed up and Sanjay was an illegal alien, but they blow up the car after he got into it...but the scene got cut so he showed up in later episodes alive).

Wanted to highlight this myself, Ned might be the "wholesome" character but unless those kids turn out pure religo like him, he wouldn't accept them (if they were gay, if they wanted to stop believing and so on) and that makes him a crappy dad in my book

After ‘Livin’ la Pura Vida’ I would rate Superintendent Chalmers in the gray area, too. As a single dad struggling to raise an absolute brat he’s continuously supportive of his daughter’s life choices, even when they’re clearly horrible (deciding to get married with Jimbo less than a day after breaking up with him), which is both endearing and not amazing parenting.

Cletus and Brandine are terrible parents....really? Like, Cletus might be dirt-poor, and he did name one of his sons "1ncest," but he genuinely seems to care about his kids, so he's definitely better than Luanne. For example, in that one episode where Marge sets up a pretzel business, Cletus obtains coupons for pretzels, and he uses these coupons to get food for his kids.

7:48 that’s not a friend that’s Apu’s younger brother, Sanjay (which is why his child calls Apu uncle). Also, Krusty’s daughter, Sophie does appear a couple times again throughout the show. Jessica did reappear but that was recently in Season 33 and she didn’t have any lines.

I do agree with this list. Nelson’s mom is the worst parent in Springfield. Also you forgot to mention that Mr. Burns had a long lost son named Larry and he got to spend some quality time with him, even though his son was a party animal. Larry had a wife and kids too you know and he did better then his father Mr. Burns did.

You forgot that Burns has a biological son too (voiced by Rodney Dangerfield) but granted like Krusty and Abe with Herbert he was more of a sperm donor, and as the way he tried to raise Bart he probably got out lucky

I really hope we get to see more of Sophie. Maybe Homer and Abe could be ranked a little lower due to Homer’s strangleholds with Bart, and Abe even told Home that he was an accident. I think Homer’s more of a Neutral-Good parent, he does have good moments, but there’s still much more he could do. Mr. Burns is also to a father, his son found him in earlier seasons.

Honestly, I'd put ned in the grey area here. Maybe like the best one in the grey area. While he did raise his kids well for them to be nice, he had a strict and overprotective way of raising Rodd and Todd to the point where they couldn't do anything as people. People should be able to look at their childhood and think they had fun. Rodd and Todd literally couldn't have fun, as Ned was just that overprotective

I would have to say in recent seasons Marge is becoming the bigger problem with Bart maturing. I would not be surprised if his antics are a natural escape from Marge over parenting. Homer while he appears laid back does do a better job with Lisa and if it wasn't for Maggie I think their marriage would struggle between their sided love for the first two kids.

Mr. burns had a son, even though he doesn’t talk about him much. I think he was only in one or two episodes. Just wanted to share Edit: sooo, when I got to the end of the video I thought there might be someone who should be on the list. Moe. I don’t remember everything but I do remember he did love Maggie. So much so that marge and homer had to get them away from each other. Also I think there was an episode where moe an Lisa became friends. The Simpsons has a lot of caring parents like Marge and sometimes Homer, some of these parents are neutral, but still caring like Krusty the Clown and Chief Wiggum, and of course there's always bad and neglectful parents like Reverend Lovejoy and Helen Lovejoy, Agnes Skinner, and Nelson's mom. Although I'm surprised that Fat Tony is a descent father to Michael despite being a mob boss, at least he let's his son take his career in cooking which was very sweet of him.😬😊

Speaking of Mr Burns, his son's not exactly a great father himself - Larry tracks down Mr. Burns for a reunion and we later learn that he's got a wife and kids and that he didn't tell them where he was going. Geez. I'd've placed Jackie in the bad category, points against her for nearly murdering a family pet iguana. I'm surprised Agnes Skinner weren't mentioned. As if I should say why she'd definitely be in the bad category. The Hibberts - I'd say good. Krusty's dad - kind of in the middle but low-ish for disowning him in the first place. Kent Brockman - erm... middle Also I have a suggestion for a new good to evil video - characters from the Harry Potter series.

Can I just throw this out there. I have just watched series 1-9 and counting and I have to say Marge really is not good. So she is constantly using horrible and manipulative tactics against homer for doing nothing. Ie. When homer stops going to church. Even after homer says this is the way HE celebrates his god she threatens to leave him and tear the family apart. Also when homer is manager to lurlene, before she knows anything Marge is all over homer because he spoke to a woman. And again there are multiple times in the show when homer has done very minor (compared to most things) where she threatens to leave him with the kids. I just find it interesting how she’s always seen as good but I can only see this side of her...
