In this video I tried to show you all of the famous movie/cartoon (sometimes TV series) references that I have managed to find in The Simpsons as their tribute to cinema.
В этом видео я попытался показать вам все отсылки на известные фильмы и мультфильмы (иногда и на сериалы), которые мне удалось найти в Симпсонах, как их дань уважение кинематографу.

Growing up with the Simpsons as a kid it was this weird thing where for many of these cultural references, the TV show was actually my first exposure to them, and not the source material the Simpsons was spoofing. So instead of going "oh yeah, i remember when the terminator did that thing in the movie" while watching the Simpsons, i would instead go "oh yeah, i remember when Homer did that thing in the TV show" while watching the movie itself lol.

Thank you for saying that. That’s the way it’s been for me too. Take this upvote kind stranger. Wait, this isn’t Reddit.
@emmettturner9452
@emmettturner9452 5 лет назад
The thing is, most of it was current/new so it was really more of a contemporary or current-events parody than a cultural reference to classic cinema. A size-able number of their viewers hadn’t seen Terminator 2 or Thelma and Louise at the time.
@razzle2429
@razzle2429 5 лет назад
@CHAIRMAN LMAO I don't think it's necessarily that the source material was dated. Many of the references came out just a few years after the movies they're referencing. But msot kids are going to watch The Simpsons long before they see MA15+ and R18+ movies like Cape Fear or A Clockwork Orange.
@uknownada
@uknownada 5 лет назад
It's so much better than the way they spoof movies nowadays. They're full-on parodies now, drawing attention to the fact that they're spoofing it. Sometimes the episode just kinda stops to make a big movie reference.

Yeah, it's awesome how they could write references to things, but still make the joke work if you hadn't seen the movie.
