I've made this request before, can you do the same house through the decades? Like how the same house would look in the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90, 2000s, 2010s and now. I think it can be a really fun series, seeing how the furniture and home evolves over the years, and with all the packs now there would be great items to use like the old tv from eco lifestyle and the record player thing from high school years with the hidden objects cheats!
I really appreciate that you recognized that your search results for Mauritian kitchens was bringing up resorts so you decided to also pull in the textiles and colors that came up in the country search. That was by far my favorite room. It was outside of what we normally see from you but it was so lovely.
This is a fun challenge! As a Thai person I’d say you did a fair job on the dining room with very little knowledge, considering Thai restaurants are the only thing that come up when you google it lol. The dark wood was a good shout as teak is mostly use. Tbf i’m not sure what I would’ve done as we don’t actually have a dining room haha. Good job Deli, fun video!❤
When I lived in Thailand, my house didn’t have a dining room- the rare occasions we ate at home, it was on the bamboo mat on the back patio or in a living space 😜
I know you said you gave up on making the house cohesive, but I can actually easily imagine the people (sims?) who would live here! World travelers who love to buy art and furniture and have it shipped home, and having theme rooms. I feel like I have visited homes of real people like this. And there were some vibe/color throughlines.
My grandma from Thailand’s dining room looks like that so I think it’s pretty accurate. The fruit should be covered though or the ants will come 😭 I think this would be a cool idea for cas too! To make a sim from different countries :)
That would be a fun challenge but you gotta admit that there are a lot of people out there who would take it personally for someone to assume certain features go with certain races/nationalities. So that might be one that would be more fun to do but not upload lol.
Make the NY bedroom about 10 tiles smaller and include a full tiny bathroom and a mini kitchen into the whole room with one tiny window in an awkward spot with a dumpster outside and you’ve got a NY apartment 😂 Jokes about overpriced ny assistants, I thought this was a really cool challenge and you did a great a job! 🥰
Also, I think you did a fantastic job! I'm from the states and you definitely captured New York (where I have spent time but don't live). But I also have family all over the world and have spent a few weeks in Spain specifically (of these rooms). You did such a good job on all. I'm sure it was nerve-wracking to do this though in case someone felt misrepresented!!! You seriously did amazing though and I'm happy to see others agree!!
I think you did an amazing job, especially considering you haven´t been to most of these countries! I´d love to see you trying to recreate traditional houses from different parts of the world, that would be awesome!!
I found it kind of funny how she chose an industrial style for America instead of the typical suburbia style that most of the United States has. Classic deli
I'm not an expert on any of the cultures in this video (aside from USA), but I think they all turned out beautiful, and really mesh well together because of your choice of colors!
idk about most of them, but spain is basically arab style with a little twist. that mean the Moroccan pack is perfect for the style. also, since it's a very hot country, we have tile, brick and popcorn ceilings and walls everywhere. that being said, wooden floors are also everywhere here. idk if there are many fireplaces, but, as for the rest, arched and pointed archways (lol) are also very spanish, as well as semicircles and stuff like that (bc of the arab influence). truthfully, our architecture is still very influenced to this day by our arab past and I'd say peak spanish architecture is the alhambra. if you ever find yourself here in spain, it's a must. a couple of churches are also important, but nowhere near. anyhoo, have a great day💕
Every country has various styles to them. You went with a moroccan style which fits the very southern Spain so it works. You didn't do the Thai very well at all but I don't think there are many good options for you in the game to work with. The Mauritian looked very touristy but that's what you had to work with online. Peruvian ran into a similar case as the Thai one but at least you got a bit of the esthetic you were going for. You nailed the New york apartment (if a bit gimmicky) but that's because 90+% of the objects in the sims is made for an american audience. I have no clue about Tonga honestly, but it seems you went down an indonesian style.
all the midetiranian houses kinda similar so the Moroccan kit will work on all countries like my country and Spain AND island living is good for ocean countries like Thailand and maurit SO BASICALLY U DIDI A PRETTY GOOD JOB
considering that you can obviously only use the items provided in the game, I think you did a great job. I loved the blue wall in Spanish and Thai rooms. it would be interesting to see you do an entire build based on just one country too.
You did a really great job! I really like the Spanish room. And don’t worry In Thailand there are so many styles of dining room (Japanese style,Chinese style,European style etc. because Thai people embrace every culture) and the traditional Thai dining room you don’t need a dining table and chairs. Just sit on a clean mat and eat.🤣
I would love to see you renovate your Hampton Falls LP house with the newer assets and cc in the trendy Coastal Grandmother aesthetic. I think the exterior of that house is stunning but I would love to see it with a more modern coastal interior I also think you did a great job with this and it was such a cool idea.
I'm 1/4 Thai and adore the dining room! The colours remind me of our own interior (we live in rural Australia) and my dads taste in design (he grew up in Thailand) Blues, red, gold, dark timber. All (from my white-washed brain) accurate. I also went there when I was 8 and it seem right :D This is just my perspective though
You did the first sim makeover and I know you must have done the first house you built one, but I think it would be fun to see you revamp one of your older builds
You made the United States room way cooler than I would expect 😆 I’m not a fan of the country I live in & the general suburbia aesthetic, but I do really enjoy the New York aesthetic
U.S. has a couple different aesthetics. Like you said we saw industrial like NY, suburbia, but also Southern, cabin-style, Californian which I think has different like San Fran and maybe coastal. With the east coast you’ll see more Colonial style homes, etc.
you could have put the locker because a lot of people "stoop" items from the street, meaning someone is getting rid of something (like a locker) but nothings wrong with it so they just put it on their stoop for people to take. im imagining that your sim just picked up that locker off the street from a school that was renovating
Deli if you're after more specifically themed are work try typing in what you're looking for in gallery search, its not CC so everyone can download it :D
This was a tough challenge! I can’t speak to if they are country accurate (except for the US where I’m from), but I do think you did a good job making it look like a warm and inviting space to be in.
I'd love to see more of this! Why don't you try it again but randomize till you get a less known/popular country? Like, I knew pretty much all of these ones except for Tonga. Let's stray away from the mainstream and learn more about the hidden beauty of smaller and lesser known countries!
that would be pretty difficult for someone who doesn't have firsthand knowledge of the respective country and has never even visited. she was googling a lot for inspiration and stylistic clues, and the less known a country is, the less will be found online about it
We do call it football in America, but I will say we sometimes refer to the field as the grid iron! I don’t live in NY, but you did a good job! Reminded me of some of the apartments from Sex and the City tv show. ❤
For what ya had to work with in the game I think ya did..as Doctor Who would say.. fantastic 🙂 it's so hard to build in Sims sometimes the astectics just are not there lol.
commenting again in hopes deli sees it! you should do a challenge where you use a number generator to pick how many items you can use per room! i say it would get pretty chaotic pretty fast 😅
From the U.S. here, every single human I know has "modern farmhouse" decor. I'm kind of sick of it myself and never converted, but it's definitely America right now, lol.
i really liked how the “spanish” room turned out, but i’m not sure why google shows that specific style while searching for spanish furnishing or whatever because i have never seen anything like it anywhere in spain 😂😭 considering the arabs where in the iberian peninsula for 700 years, the moroccan style is not far off at all, however i’d have loved to see a sort of patio cordobés or a tradicional house from La Mancha in those google results 🤔 maybe those are cool ideas for a future build??? 💖
Because in the US, in the parts previously colonized by Spaniards (Mostly Southern California, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas and Florida) has a lot of houses built in that specific style that they call "Spanish" because they come from spanish colonization. You can see builds in this "Spanish style" in Oasis Springs, like that mansion across the street from the Landgraab's house.
I think I have an idea for you: what if you created a family and the community built a room for their house? Then you build a house with our rooms? I think that would be a fun video. You don’t have to, it’s just a thought I had. 😊
I'm from Spain and the style that Google gave you it's not exactly typical from Spain. It is in part but just in villas and big old houses on the field. I can say that 99% of Spanish people don't live in places like that 😂😂😂
I feel like this was 20 mins of watching you feel uncomfortable. You did a great job given the limited options in the sims and having not been to the countries.
Why did you do a warehouse apartment and not a generic suburban beige McMansion master bedroom with cheap carpet and no finishings. Clearly not a representation 😂😂. You did great Deli. On al them. Also my west coast American public high school chemistry teacher was Tongan
I love that you did an NY apartment for US. I think NY represents a lot of what America is today. My first thought was to do colonial but loved this idea way more. Great video
Spain has a lot of different culture influences. The south has a lot of arabic architecture, yes, but the rest doesn’t. I live in the north-east, and that room looks nothing alike to the architecture we have here. We have lots of roman ruins and Mediterranean vibes. I know you are just doing a video and you need to follow a stereotype, but it’s a shame that people seem to always follow the same americanised version! My favourite ones to recreate are “masia catalana”, which is the traditional house of my region”
I am from Mauritius!! 🇲🇺 I really like the kitchen you created! Growing up on the island our kitchen was a space where all the family would come together and talk and enjoy each other’s company with food! The kitchen was the heart of our home! I like that you captured the colour and vibrancy of Mauritius! Great work Deli!
@@binkin7304 different continents but are just separated by a small strip of water, and Morocco was colonised by spain for a while so u have toe xpect oveapping cultures
I screamed so loud when you‘d gotten Thailand. I think Chrissy‘s dining room doesn‘t say „Thai“ to me that much, but what you did was really beautiful. And from your Thai fan‘s opinion, I would say I LOVE it! 💕
Hi lovely! Spaniard here! You did a superb job! I was so happy to see you do this challenge :) Your room looks like a classic Spanish Cortijo or something like that, from southern Spain which actually is really close to Morocco and shares a lot of aesthetics with moroccan style, so it is absolutely fine. It would be fun to see you try to recreate your subscribers homes from all over the world... anyway, loads of love!!!
The Spanish room looks like a room you'd find in a Cortijo, traditional upper class house in the south, which is understandable since it is usually the most recognizable one and they do have moroccan influences. When you venture further north houses look nothing like this and it's a bit sad that masías (Cataluña), caseríos (País Vasco) or pazos (Galicia) don't get as much recognition since they are stunning. That said, you did well, and after all it's just a game and trying to portray a Style of a place you've never been to, it's not serious, so don't sweat it too much! :)
Oooooh love this and that you provided some examples to look up. My husband's family is from Veracruz, Mexico and since it is a southern coastal state, it differs a lot from "traditional" Mexican characteristics and architecture so I definitely understand the interest in less well known/mainstream Hispanic design!!
I definitely understand your nervousness about posting this, but I think you did great! This was definitely a CHALLENGE and I think you gave it a good shot :)
Who else expected James to shout in the background “yeah Batoo” when Deli said batoo? I have a challenge for you Deli, take famous houses from tv shoes and movies, and recreate them in the sims. Edit: apparently is Batuu not Batoo (it’s leviOsa not leviosA)
I agree with this challenge! I have a toddler and we both love Brisbane-based Bluey, and there is a big discussion among fans about the layout of Bluey's house. I tried recreating it in the Sims, and it's wild!! So maybe you can try your hand at it?
I'm from Spain and I have to say the room was pretty accurate!! Lots of traditional homes from the south of Spain look like this!! (And you could've used more Moroccan elements and wall tiles since there's a lot of influence from Morocco there) I love it!
Oh good to know! I wasn’t sure how much Moroccan influence to use.. I understand it’s across the water and in Africa, but I was like I don’t want to offend anyone if I get it wrong 🤣❤️ thanks!
@@deligracy muslims lived in spain for many centuries actually!! and they left many moroccan looking buildings and palaces in here!! and since the room is south looking you could've definitely added more moroccan decoration!
Mauritius is probably a difficult room to get across since the island had no native inhabitants initially (apart from the dodo) and its culture is actually just a blend of cultures from various regions after it was colonized.
As someone who went to boarding school in Thailand, I think you did better with that room than you think. Darker wood colors and jewel toned fabrics remind me of it a lot. And gold decor too! Also, from the brief amount of time I visited Peru, I think the bright tapestries were a good try considering this is the Sims. I remember all the floors being tile/laminate since it was so hot. But the colors and flowers part was true. They did love bright colors. 😊
deli decorating the first three rooms: mmh, gorgeous, beautiful cultures deli when she gets the usa: literally a warehouse with junk all jokes aside, this was a really cool challenge to watch, and I loved your takes on each country and room
Now this is a good niche that kits could fill. Build/buy/cas for different parts of the world. I think you did well with what is available in the game!
I just want to say I love how this video opened the conversation about different areas in the world and different styles and traditions! I’m learning so much scrolling through these comments! ❤
I'm Thai and I'd probably struggle to build with Thai theme in The Sims 4 either 😂 You did pretty well though. The room divider was spot on. I'd say for traditional Thai, the elements you'd need are floor dining table, triangle pillows, gold decorations, lotuses, etc. Probably Spa day pack is the closest vibe but for more like modern Thai.
I think the Spain rendition is a bit americanized because your references were, too, but I could definitely see a room like this one in an Andalusian (southern Spain) house! If you ever want to dig a bit more in Spain architechture, I'll tell you I think you'd have a great time doing a Gaudí rendition in TS4 (you'll need CC for that one, for sure)! He was an architecht from Barcelona who was like THE Modernism (Art Nouveau) star artist. He used a lot of organic shapes, materials like ceramics and stunning colours.
The spanish room was nice!!! The americanized version of Spanish decor is always more minimalist than we actually are!! It's common here for the rooms (especially the living room) to be super cluttered! Great choices overall Deli💗
I've just watched your vlog for Bowsers birthday, maybe you could make a color challenge to build the perfect house for him, because dogs only see certain colors and then look what it would look like with normal colors
Or bring back the "dog chooses my ___" challenge! You could put different colors in front of him, or maybe numbers for the number of rooms in the house, etc
These rooms are so cool! 😎 I love them! As an African American young lady who loves learning about other countries and cultures, I always love it when people embrace other countries and the cultures that come with them. ❤️💕🌈💕❤️
The thing about the US is that it's really just fifty-ish countries in a trench coat, each with their own cultures, local laws/government, and exports. Also sometimes we just hate the guys just across statelines and get huffy when we get lumped in with them. There's also the history of colonization, which means the styles used in modern day homes don't typically reflect the historical inhabitants of the land. An NYC industrial apartment is a style that exists, and given the difficulty of finding a purely US style, works pretty well. That it's a style you can do well, is probably a bonus.
Hello! Thai fan here. I’ve to say you did a pretty good job. The wooden furniture is nice. I love the wooden floor because here we have wooden floor everywhere.. Wood panelling is nice, but feature wall/accent wall is not very common in Thai home, they’re more common in hotels. Wooden door is great too. One or two things I would like to change is the blue wall and the pendent light. Blue wall is very uncommon, I have never been to any Thai home that has blue wall, only in public places. Most Thai home prefer white/cream/pale yellow wall. And the pendent lights is not quite Thai, I think putting a normal ceiling light or ceiling fan there would be more Thai. A ceiling fan above the dinning table is quite common in Thailand. Overall, you did a very good job. I have been watching your videos for months now and they always bring be joy. Can’t wait for your next video!
This is a cool challenge. The Spanish room came out so nice, but there were a lot of Moroccan things you pulled out and were scared to use, but you could have used because Spain has a lot of Moroccan influences. It came out beautiful nombre the less, but I’m just saying trust your instincts Deli, you’re a great builder.
Another Californian requesting a West Coast room. NY is like another country, I've never seen a warehouse room like that here. It turned out interesting, but it's a lot less homey than the rest of the house which has way more vibrancy and unique shapes. Cool challenge though! Loved the video
I know you love the Real Housewives, maybe you could recreate some of the houses from your favorite housewives?? I think that would be so fun. Lisa Vanderpump is 100% a frienemy to Judith.
Challenge suggestions: 1. Maybe you could put some food (fruit, veggies, cheese, meals, etc.) on the wheel and let the colors from whatever you land decide the room. 2. Maybe put some things on a wheel that are found in Space (astronomy related) and each room has to be inspired by that. For example, say you landed on Neptune or the Eagle Eye Nebula, then you could just decide to let the colors be the inspiration. 3. Since there are four seasons, what about a 4 story house or 3 story with a basement and each floor is a different season. 4. I did see that Plumbella came up with a decades challenge and maybe that video will inspire a challenge. 5. Maybe put holidays from around the world on wheel and each room is inspired by whatever you land on. 6. A puzzle challenge. Create rooms not connected to each other, design the rooms and try to put them together without changing anything inside the rooms. This would not include windows, front and back doors, outside wall treatment, etc., which is basically the outside stuff as that could be added at the end. This could also be done by picking rooms off the gallery, or picking rooms made by your followers and/or friends. 7. What about a 3 story house or 2 story with a basement and 1 floor expansion packs only, one floor game packs only, and one floor stuff packs only. An added bonus would be, randomly pick 3 build/buy kits, one for each floor, and you have to use something from that kit on that floor.
I was so surprised when you got Mauritius lol My relatives who live there recently visited on Sunday, and so I was thinking of them. And they do not visit often.
Hi Deli, I loved this house! I am from NYC and i think you hit it dead on, except the window dressings should be on the outside of the window. It is used as a security deterrent for thieves. But otherwise a great build!
I have an idea of a challenge but idk If you would like to do it but let me tell ya! Build a tiny house with ALL the packs and other big house with only one random pack.I don’t know if anyone has suggested this challenge before 🤭🙈
I think you did an amazing job! As an American, I'd be way too nervous to film something like this and have people scream "cultural appropriation" or "stereotypical" because that's been the big thing here in America recently. So we now constantly walk on eggshells as to not potentially offend various races/ cultures. Which is so sad because the point of America is to be a melting pot of people, ideas and cultures. Hence why we have so many various design styles with blended aesthetics throughout the country. Which is another reason I'd probably fail miserably at this challenge; because so many styles and cultures are blended here that it's hard to specifically point out what is from where. So it is super smart that you researched online for the design styles in each individual country. Anyways, LOVED this so much. Great job 🥰
United States of America: NEW YORRKKKKK! Hey, as an American, I think you did an excellent job on the room, though personally, I've never been to NY, but I think this is an interesting challenge. Dare I say...maybe I'll try it?
