This is why I play with the Life’s Tragedies mod. At least THINGS HAPPEN in the game with that. Oh and you can disable the things that you don’t like. What a mind blowing concept - that apparently EA can’t grasp
I add spice to playing a household by blindly randomizing the lot traits and lot challenges like every couple of sim days. coz i want surprises and chaos to just happen.

I have been a game tester at ubisoft and I know how these big corporations work. There was a lot of talk about EA, and how it's an even more horrible environment than ubisoft in terms of compensation. There are several issues going on at EA. The packs that were full of bugs happened because they lack quality game testers as their salaries are horrible resulting in skilled employees quitting their job. And i think it's like this for most departments and we can see this on Glassdoors. This means that actual people with talent and ambition won't work for scrap and it seems EA doesn't care as long as the marketing is good and the games are bought.
Wow, thanks for your insight! It's crazy that they're one of the most profitable companies in the world but they're giving developers pennies. Not surprising as a super capitalistic company, but I've always wondered why amongst the other game companies, they truly have been one of the most horrendously greedy one. Curious as to how they're gonna deal with the upcoming simulation competitors, I don't think they're gonna make it better necessarily, but I do think it'll make a dent in their annual income. I have a friend who recently got a job at EA specifically for the Sims 4. They were offered more than they asked for and it came with the best benefits I've ever heard of. So, maybe the bad compensation only applies to certain positions. From what I know, the internal team wants to and plans to include SO much, but cannot because of time. I think this is more of an upper-management/executive issues than it is internal team issue?

Can't the devs ask for more reasonable schedule or more staff? I guess they tried..? Or more training if they need to upskill certain parts
Also, most publishers force developers to ship unfinished games and use the player base as the QA, when we report it, only after do they decide if it's big enough to fix. Specifically, with TS4, they don't need to fix anything of substance, just announce a new expansion/game pack/kit to keep the fanbase engaged until the next game cycle.
People were so mad that a game like FaeFarm was $40, when that game is deep and amazing. If a game like THAT is overpriced, then these “expansion” packs are definitely overpriced.
Honestly “For Rent” should have been combined with City Living. You should be able to create apartments, be a landlord or tenant, go to community events, have nosey neighbors, have burglars (because city’s have higher crime rates), blackmail neighbors, report noisy neighbors to the landlord, go to restaurants and clubs, eat at street vendors, visit stores and actually browse the clothes, add new traits, add better cloths, add better hair,and actually have game play with the animal sanctuary. Oh and my personal favorite have townies that have interactive storylines like they did in the Sims 2. Then and only then you could justify its $40 cost.
The business thing kills me, because in Sims 2 you could have home businesses and (I believe, correct me if I'm wrong) you could also have a business on an apartment lot if you went about it in a roundabout way. For Rent just sounds like a train wreck albeit an interesting one. IMO Sims 2 apartments will always be the gold standard.

The devs at EA dont even know how to code lol, that's why everyone here who has any skills in tech work for other companies and working for a gaming company like EA is literally like a scarlet A on you lol They hire business and marketing, not tech. Tons of single team modders have more skills individually than the whole dev team for the sims have collectively lol

there’s still “years of content” for the sims 4 according to them if I remember correctly. So they have to stretch it out…every single feature its own pack. That will be 49.99$ (I don’t actually know the price point 😂)
As a kid I would literally get panic attacks and paranoia because of the burglars (and the music!) in the past 3 sims games to the point where I would put like 4-5 burglar alarms to make sure they don't steal anything. And I remember I was actually able to help the burglar escape in sims 3 or sims 2 it was really cool. The sims 4 don't give that kind of thrill anymore without mods.
When i was like 8 my mom let me play sims 1 and the burglar kept stealing my cockatoo. It always stopped though once the kid went to boarding school for bad grades and the parents divorced and left (their 8 yr old deity sucked at sims) 😂

It may seem like some people can never be satisfied and just complain for the sake of it, but the point is some of us complain because we know they can do better, but they won't. Some new players don't have anything from the past to compare it to so they may be okay with what they're given. But we see how much is being cut short and it's not okay for any player to be exploited, even if they're content with how things are. The Sims 4 is the successor, but yet somehow has taken so many steps back from previous years. The fact that it was launched without toddlers, pools, and a family tree when all those things were present in a game from twenty years ago is just not okay and they've been following this trend ever since - omitting things until players have to get to the point of demanding them. Regarding this pack, it does seem like it has promise, but again, it's being upsold for more content than it has.
Tbh at this rate, it will take A LOT to convince me to get Sims 5. So disappointing. I only joined the community through Sims 4, so I don’t have the full experience of 2&3 but from what I’ve seen, it seems so much more exciting than 4 😭
I recently went back to ts3 after a looooong time and i'm so glad i did, the difference is literally day and night. I highly recommend playing it over investing in the non-game that is ts4. The only downside for me is that there's a smaller community making cute cc lol
Agreed on Sims 5; the only reason I'm still buying some of the new expansions for Sims 4 is because I already own like 80% of the DLC and just want the game to feel fleshed out already. Sims 5 would have to be absolutely stunning on release for me to pay money for it, like open-world Sims 2 with inZOI graphics
oh please play ts2. this is just golden. first game where i don't even need to create my own sims - i just play whole town, rotating families every 7 days, because they have such detailed stories. the only minus for me - corruption. if you don't know all do's and dont's, you can very easy corrupt your save. recently lost my 2+ years save btw lmao. but it's now like any sims game doesn't do that.
Why couldn't EA just refresh or update city living its already not fair that Im paying 40 dollars for a shallow pack, with gameplay I get bored of after an hour. If they want to continue the sims franchise they should stop making new packs as a way to make money but instead fix broken ones that don't even function *cough cough* (my wedding stories) and start thinking about their consumers and not the money they receive. What is the pont of For Rent if you have the same gameplay of apartments, broken utilities and loading screens between them. Now I'm paying another 40 dollars just so my sim can live in a new crappy world and be the landlord 😡

I am with you when it comes to the Sims 4 team making the game very child friendly which is why they refuse to bring back burglary. The same thing is happening with Animal Crossing. In the past AC used to have really mean villagers and would almost even cuss at you, but because the world we live in now is so triggered, I feel like this is why the Sims team just make everything easier for children. I noticed a lot of games have took this turn on simplifying their games because they don't want anything to be too hard for kids. Its a shame really lol.
I completely agree with Satch. I have been playing the sims since 2000 and they have been nothing but disappointing recently. It's a shame to see such a unique and iconic franchise to give up when they have so many fans behind them.
The thing I don't like about Tortosa is that one beach lot, that specifically looks like it's meant to be a beach and even has swimmable water, but the Sims team didn't make the lot go into the water, it makes no sense, it's a beach, it looks like a beach, it should be a beach, the lot should've been a little bigger and gone into the water, and even if you build a house on that lot, if you have the Sulani pack, if the lot went into the water, your sims could have a boat and relaxation floats in the water, but they can't cause the lot doesn't extend into the water.
Whereas in TS3 You can swim in any large body of water. The ocean, pool, I’m pretty sure even a lake. You didn’t need an expansion pack for your sims to SWIM IN WATER 💀💀
I think this is just because the water front lots are probably one of the only attractions in Island Living, like, there isn't much gameplay that comes with the pack. So if they gave waterfront lots to My Wedding Stories, then people would just buy "My Wedding Stories" and not the Island Living expansion pack
My first game was Sims 2, and I still miss its magic. You couldn't be more right; the development team doesn't understand the history of the game and what made it so iconic, and this is the reason the game is so bad
I think one reason people might be disappointed about not being able to build residential rental units on Sulani waterfront lots, penthouses and vacation worlds is because these are things we have irl and could do in previous Sims installments.
The penthouse one isn't something you do in real life, though? A penthouse is specifically ONE apartment that is effectively a house because it takes up the entire top floor of a building. It would be a bit silly to build apartments on a lot specifically meant for ONE penthouse. (Although I am guessing that their reasoning is more stupid and is like 'oh it doesn't have a basement that's why' - but still, this pack basically can't be used on any City Living apartments, and I don't see why people thought it could be. These packs conflict a bit, and it wouldn't make sense.) The rest of it...yeah. They should have found a workaround for the Sulani waterfront lots, for instance.

Sims Team and EA will only give us good content AFTER other life simulators are out and "stealing" their costumers. Just wait and see them go emergency mode when Paralives, Life by You, Inzoi and other release.. It is very sad to see Sims Team and EA not caring enought about this franchise. Sims 4 could have been so much more and from what I see Sims 5 won't be much either. They do not care about their costumers, the very people that made their franchise what it is.
This is the exact reason why I don't buy the sims anymore. I've moved on and grieve as I watch my beloved game go down in flames. I know how to pirate ts4 and I choose not to because it's still shit. And to those that say "but mods fix this". I am not paying money for a game that needs mods to be fun. That doesn't make sense to me. I had zero packs, cc, or mods when I played ts3. I played ts3 bare bones for years and it was so fun! I have 2 packs for ts4 and the gameplay is is snooze fest. You've outlined perfectly here why this game is so boring. I don't think I've paid full price for any other pack than Cottage Living in the Sims 4, and I got Spa Day and Outdoor Reatreat as a gift.. I also got My first pet and two of the Kits when they were for free. It's also the only video game that I play, and it helps me escape my dull reality. But I do agree that it has totally gone to shits!
Yeah. Same here. I bought the base game when it came out and then “Get to Work”…. I got bored and frustrated. I haven’t bought a single Sims 4 thing since. I don’t even bother downloading when something is free because I don’t feel like the Sims 4 is worth spending my time on. It makes me sad because I loved the Sims 2 and the Sims 3. I don’t even know if I’m going to bother buying the Sims 5 at this point.
Same here, I bought TS3 second hand. It was already connected to someone’s Sim’s account so I couldn’t get dlc. However, it didn’t matter because the base game was SO FUN. If my old laptop still worked I’d play it.
There are one sided feelings (sentiments), but what we really need is the system that was in The Sims 2, when sims would have a short- and longterm relationship with each other and one sim could have a really high friendship bar with someone and consider them their best friend, while the other sim has a much lower bar and doesn't share the sentiment of being a best friend.

The Sims 4 base game was build upon a broken, limited platform. NO MATTER how many packs, expansions they add, its NEVER going to operate correctly. Love it or hate, its flaws are base game oriented. Sach, plz do a video explaining this in detail to your subs. ❤
200% - someone in the comments was trying to say yOu CaN dO aNyThInG wItH cOdE...but that's not true. This game is borked at the core and has old, bad code - you can't 'fix' that. You would have to scrap it entirely and start fresh...which would then be a whole new game, and no longer TS4. What people want simply isn't possible in the terrible code this game is rooted in.
I agree 💯 with what you stated. "Ambitionless". The game is for playing not just building and and CAS. I own everything the Sims 4 has released and I still find myself very bored with the game. Before anyone spends all that money for all those packs and expansions, Don't, they won't expand your game. 🙄

My personal biggest disappointment is the lot restrictions, I really wanted to build on the penthouse lots. Hopefully a wonderful modder can remedy this! This pack does feel like a game pack though, when you really look closely and consider the total amount and depth of gameplay, the size of the world and the new main feature. I'm afraid expansions are just going to continue this trend and we're just going to be fed a more expensive game pack in between normal-priced game packs. I have a feeling EA is trying to see if they can get away with lower development costs but charging more.
6:40 - I agree. I think they give us the most base game features possible with the least amount of coding and difficulty managing because they ANTICIPATE modders doing the rest of the work for them. Sorry not sorry, EA is lazy and relies on the modding community as unpaid labor to provide the features they don't want to pay their programmers to include.
I love the sims also and the lifeness empty feeling of the game play is getting so tiring 😮💨 I previously consistently bought packs with hopes something would change but nope, so I think I genuinely will skip this one and subsequent releases and just stick to mods until they get it together and give us a real game. You can get them without paying for them! Because look at it this way - if EA serves you up a dog turd that they've dipped in gold and called an expansion pack, and people pay for it? Why would they make anything but gold-plated dog turds? People will pay for it! There's no reason to improve! Corporations are not your friends. They only hear the sound of money in their pockets, so it's best not to give it to them - you're rewarding their bad behavior, and encouraging their predatory practice. It's a shame, how far EA has fallen since I was a kid! They used to be the biggest name out there! (Funnily I bought the old EA game SSX Tricky, and this old skateboarding game gives each races personality types and interactions with each other that are more dynamic than the relationships Sims have in TS4 NOW! It's wild! And this game is from when I was probably 12-14? And I'm 35 now.)

I’ve come to the same conclusion that the SIMS4 will never surpass the original versions of the SIMS simply as you well said and I see from game play it’s not catching the attention of game play….it is as you said the Duplex version 😢. I get bored easily with this game as I play and it glitches and crashes or something always fks up I loose interest so I build or delete and start again. Satch is so right in the fact that a lot of people in the community are making such an unnecessary drama about the 99 units per save, like lit yesterday I was watching all about this controversy and I thought bro.. nobody is going to put units in every lot of each world, nobody and I honestly believe that a normal player will not reach the 99 units per save like bro im obsessed with this game and im sure im not doing that
I partially agree, with the beginning half. However players like myself who mainly play rotational, so multiple households both in your control and replacing npcs in other households tab with your own, you can easily surpass 99 units across all worlds within a single save file. I can see Newcrest having a great use with this rental pack.

I'm sure the playerbase who thinks MCCC is a must so you can do a hundred baby challenge in a game designed with a household limit of 8 will just play normally and have 3 rentals and a few in-law suites /s

@@neslymor No it's not difficult. I'm super casual, open up the game twice a week to poke around, I don't make elaborate TOOL saves or play dozen generation lore. I'd be at 30 units if I converted my houses right this moment. I'd play in lots accounting for 21 of those units. And I'd have to deal with fewer sims at a time, no more juggling 7 roommates in the community housing when I want to play one specific sim, no more infants getting lost in grandma's studio apartment over the garage. And that's all without having built a slumlord empire where you play one sim but manage a whole rental complex.

Honestly, with Rental lots, 99 is a prefectly fine number for residential rental lots. if you do 6 units in all of the Res-Rent Lots you're using you can have 16 lots in a save (more if you're using less). 12 units per world for 16 worlds (plus one extra) is not a bad amount. I did also hear the limit was to prevent save corruption.
This is why we love satchie. Anyone who has seen him genuinely excited for sims content knows, he is not hater. He's very passionate about the franchise and wants it to be the best it can be so he can continue enjoying the game. Ppl say the same about my real reviews of barbie because they think mattel can never do anything wrong. But the truth is the truth. Also, I subbed to the side channel too! 😂
I think you really hit the hammer on the nail speaking of the burglers. What I miss in Sims 4 is unpredictable life events. Having burglars, random rabid wolfs lurking around your bins etc at least added some interesting features. I personally wish that you could turn on and off unpredictability features like risk of getting pregnant, sims potentially cheating, storms wrecking roofs or something etc. The only surprising thing that is being sprung on me in sims 4 is triplets and getting asked out on dates by characters that already are married (which is kinda hilarious and a bit like the cheating thing). I know there are a lot of good mods out there, but I want a game that I pay for to be good on its own. Also some things would be a lot more interesting if they would be harder, like why is adopting kids like ordering pizza? Kinda anticlimactic. That being said, I still play sims 4 but I do end up focusing much more on building. I do feel like each time I play there are new glitches and bugs that at least spice things up. For a long time I had a bug where simmers kept randomly being mean to eachother constantly, now lately in my game a lot of the simmers have swapped friendly actions for romantic ones and as a result walk around making out with eachother as if it's a new handshake without the romance meter going up. I kinda love it. Also the whole sims phoning up to ask if they should go for dates with other sims is out of line, they keep doing it like three times per day and I want my poor sims to be left out of that circus 🎪 and be let in to other more engaging circuses.
Not getting burglars back is SO disappointing :( The burglars in the previous sims games were scary bc of the music and all, but it was so FUN and added so much to the game

Once again, too much is just ‘ambience’, set dressing, safe child’s-play, rabbit holes and loading screens. The sims 4 team have the money, know the age of their players, and know they don’t have to try very hard because modders will make their game playable for adults and better for a fraction of the price or free, EA is leaching off people for their maddening efforts whilst doing the bare minimum..

no they said it was designed for kids but everyone can use it which means kids likely will get some moodlets and whatever from it and adults probably won't. People are just making stuff up to be mad at this point
He is 100% right. People NEED to expect more from companies these days and when a company does the work EA/Sims do it does show how ambitionless they are. The game has like 100 packs and costs insane amounts to buy, even if 1% of their players buy every expac then they are making enough money a triple A company can do A LOT more

You would think that if EA wanted to make money, they would make the customers happy because it's not hard to go online and see what everyone hates or wants in the Sims 4, but we are so desperate for the Sims 4 to be good that we keep buying the packs and it's just...I'm never going to play the sims 4 again. Most of this *does* make sense, though I use mods to live in the vacation worlds (I believe it's Zerbu who makes it) because they're too good not to! So, I foresee more mods to allow residential rentals being allowed....with a mod, eventually. Sorry console players! The real downer that I *didn't* foresee was the Sulani waterfront lots - such a bummer on that one, since who doesn't want to rent on a waterfront lot? xD The rest of it tracks - like the 'no businesses on retail lots'...but that's never been possible. There can only be one lot type on a lot! Why would we expect otherwise? I have long used mods to get around this - LittleMsSam has SEVERAL mods for this, if others still want this! There's live in businesses, and the 'My Little Neighborhood'. Now, the 'no snooping and no burglars'? That's BS. Just make it like everything else that's a gameplay mechanic - something that can be toggled off or on in the gameplay menu! Then if people are TERRIFIED of burglars or snoopers, they can opt out! Easy! But you said it - this Sims team has no idea what the real heart of the Sims franchise is, anymore. It lost everything that made it -The Sims-. I guess I'll have to add about 10-15 more mods to my massive list of mods I already have to make this pack (that I won't be paying for ;) ) function more like a real Sims game would, and have the personality traits actually be useful. Edited to say: You're right AGAIN, bish - when I was growing up, my FAVORITE part of a new Sims release was opening up a world and reading the blurb about each and EVERY family in the world and how they all knew each other and what their drama was, etc. I LOVED diving into their super fleshed out worlds that felt super dynamic...and now they're hollow shells where they force us to micromanage.

Or just...don't reward EA's scummy/predatory business practice at all, and pick it up for free. The more people pay for busted and predatory packs, the more EA makes them. There is 0 incentive to make better products if people whine, but still buy. That makes you part of the problem, even if you buy it on sale. Corporations don't care if you whine - they care about your wallet, and if it opens for them. And you just said you will, so they'll never stop doing this. It's not hard to get your hands on TS4 stuff for free with minimal effort and 0 viruses.
Its a gamepack with a hefty price tag, what i am always surprised about is how people are still shocked. If u think its too expensive wait for a sale, it will cost what a game pack costs.
Or just pirate it. It is always ethical to steal from EA. Corporations are not your friend, and rewarding them with your hard earned money for a terrible product only tells them that you will continue to buy any busted thing they make. What incentive is there to improve if they're still making incredible profits on broken, boring gameplay?
I was actually excited for, For Rent bc I loved the idea of my Sims being a property manager and the new build possibilities. But I should have know we're just purchasing a pack for a new career, and to build actual apartments on a lot. But your right, whoever is crafting these expansion packs has forgotten the gameplay we all love, like cheating, teen sims sneaking out in a limo and being brought back by the police, Social worker Sylvia, spiral staircases, open world, burglars, actual vacations, CARS!... In for rent they could have gave us the ability to build store fronts with apartments on top like we could have done in Sims 2 Open for business. But whatever ... I'm tryna to see what's shakin' with inZOI :).
Unfortunately, it hasn't evolved in a lot of ways, it has devolved. And it breaks my heart because I love this franchise and I want to see it do better. Cottage Living was absolutely amazing! And I wish they had kept that momentum that we all expected, instead of not play testing their packs enough before even announcing them so then they rush it to release (wedding stories is a prime example, it still doesn't work). It's like once it's been released, that's it. They don't bother doing any bug fixes. I do have some hope for this pack, because I do love the idea of it and I'm still excited but unfortunately, I no longer have high expectations with new packs.
The way TS4 is, I don’t want more than 99 units nor should you*. We can’t even have a wedding with a few sims without being glitch. *anyone complaining
The world was done real dirty. I’m so tired of them passing off one new feature as a whole expansion pack. At the very least, this crap should be a game pack, but really this should have been a city living feature. Being a tenant or a landlord in San myshuno would make so much more sense and wouldn’t be such a shitty cash grab for EA.
There's no point in buying that pack. If I want to have 2 families in 1 building, I can do that already and change families with the mcc mod with almost 1 click. They could have integrated a system where we could CHOOSE which units we have without a loading screen AND different lot types and lot traits for the units. Example: When editing the property, we can choose between Unit 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and the property characteristics and property types we want to give them. (+ whether the property's units should be loaded automatically) For example, we could have 4 residential units and 1 cafe, 1 fitness centre. I would understand if, in this case, a system was integrated that only allowed 5 different lot types and if it were possible to only load 5 units at the same time. They could have done SOOO MUCH. There is no point in buying that pack
I know why they don't let ppl use beach/penthouse/vacation worlds for building apartments. BECAUSE THEY WANT YOUR MONEY TO SELL YOU NEXT GAMEPACK "YOUR FIRST HOTEL" lol
Even The Sims 2 pets on the ps2 had burglars.. I feel like they're saving the feature for a future pack/expansion's incentive. Knowing the demand. I also completely agree with you on wanting a world complete. I personally want a massively cross play update because this sucks
I’m not sure if it’s just me but I was actually able to have my sim get cheated on through the roommate system as there partner was a roommate I’m sure it was a glitch but it was hilarious 😂 Also Love you videos!!
I am confused about how you even *get* to 99 unless you're making every lot into a rental. Even then... You're making an apartment of six in moonwood mills? Forgotten Hollow? Magnolia plaza? Sulani? Not all the worlds even suit apartments. Are you using all the slots in Newcrest for apartments? I just... Don't see *why* you'd want that many when trying for that many apartments with the amount of sims that would need would break your game anyways. And yeah they don't understand the experience. I play my game with so many mods and I don't even want all the packs.
Same, I‘m in disbelief of all the people saying how 99 isn’t enough. Like that’s not even something I think I would want to fix with mods because the game probably can’t handle HENCE the restrictions.

I have only one save file I'm always using and it would be nice to have units for all of the 564 of them :( also, there is a mod by Zerbu I believe which allows you to use the vacation worlds as normal residential worlds, hopefully there'll be a mod to build units in those, a community on this giant lot in outdoor living with different shacks who live their off-the-grid life together would be hilarious
I think it's a bit ridiculous to ask a game as old as the Sims 4 to offer more than 99 units in which 8 sims can live in each of those. You simply do not *need* more than that. If you do...then it's time to downsize. You then have more sims than the game is meant to handle out in the world, tbh, and performance will be in the gutter on even the best PC.
I own it all and haven't given them a cent. If someone puts a golden dog turd on your plate and you eat it and say 'thank you, here's $49.99'...why would they serve you anything but polished dog turds? They only care about money...not the player. But if people keep paying for shit...they'll keep getting shit. There is no incentive for EA to improve if they get your money anyways!

I am a storytelling simmer and I am constantly switching saves to play different eras or vibes and I'm wondering if this will make managing townies and keeping up with them a little easier because we can essentially clump them all in one spot. I'm ready to spray paint this turd and move along lol I am always so excited to hear you call things like it is or like you see it to be and you do it in a genuine way. You're authentic and it shows. I always get so tickled when you talk about the snowflakes. 🤣

I can literally still play sims 3 for days in a row and I have been since I was 10. Thats over a decade. Meanwhile Sims 4 I play for a day and leave for a month because there's just no damn challenge.
99 sounds fine. But a single 6 unit rental in every world is 120+ units. Britechester has 6 university housing lots, mess around with them for better community kitchens etc, do that or a single neighborhood in Newcrest and you're at a third of your limit without even touching cheats. I could probably go over 99 with base game + this pack only.
