As Owned Retail:
Promenade Salon & Laundromat has a 1 bedroom 1 bath apartment that can be used as a place to occasionally sleep/eat while maintaining another home on an another lot or can be the owner's primary home, but another lot still needs to be owned. If you want to stay at the salon, it is best to play as a single sim or sim couple that run the salon, children & sims in careers will always return to the home lot after school/work. Money can be made by selling beauty products and giving mani/pedis. Townies can be made over here using the Get Famous chairs, but no money will be earned. Remember to click on doors to keep sims out of areas you don't want them in. If you play on PC, you can also use the live in business mod by LittleMsSam: littlemssam.tumblr.com/post/1...
The Laundromat is decorative in this scenario, but could be used for the owner with LittleMsSam's Laundry overhaul mod: littlemssam.tumblr.com/post/1...
As Unowned Retail:
I have marked items for sale and sims can buy beauty items at the salon. Laundry that is in the sims inventory can be done at the laundromat - without the lazy trait and a mod, you can size down a small washtub from Laundry Day Stuff and hide it somewhere in your sims home - do not use the laundry hamper form Laundry Day Stuff - this is so your sim will throw the laundry on the floor and you can put in your inventory - If you use LittleMsSam's Laundry overhaul mod (link above) Your sim can take laundry from the hamper and add to inventory.
A sim with the wellness skill (6+ I believe) can still offer mani/pedis and make money, so this could also be a job that a sim goes to without owning the business.
As a Residential:
This lot can be played as a residential and the sim living here can still offer and earn money from mani/pedis and makeover townies (no money earned) The Laundromat can be used by the home owner, but would be primarily decoration in this case.
It is no longer necessary to use the move objects cheat when placing lots built with the cheat on, however, I still recommend placing lots from the lot and not the world map. It is also better to place the lot on the lot it was built on, placing on another lot can change terrain paint and cause objects to disappear. If objects still disappear, enable moveobjects
