i really love how for the first minute and half, all u can see is scott cuz his shirt is literally the brightest color ever. then the rest of ptx shows up

Scott always has a lot of solos in these. I honestly think he's one of the best singers I've ever heard, I mean; even though he mostly sings Tenor, he can do bass too AND he can even hit the highest Soprano notes, it's ridicules! And his vibrato and riffs are just insane! He is just the most talented singer ever; let alone back in that competition! PTX had Scott, best vocalist, Avi, SOLID bass, Kevin, strong percussion, and Mitch who is just insanely talented and when he hits high notes, I just die, and Kirstie with her original sound and such solid pitch! It was so obvious that they were going to win!

What's smart is that PTX wore bright colors, different than really anybody else, and they were noticed more. I think that helped in the end too (thank God)

Kirstie and Scott freaking SLAYED this! Kirstie gets in there with the chicks from the other groups and just one ups them everytime! This is my fave opener because the other chicks arent screechy and over dramatic

I'm really surprised these openers don't get more views. This was one of my favorite openers. Complex, high energy, and really brought out the best everyone had to offer.

Assuming 2:20 to 2:40 was the climax, I agree. Outstanding. The "sing" and "perfect" openers were my other favorites for the same reason, they built up to the right moment and brought all the energy at once. The results are phenomenal.

Lol obviously they have an arranger for group performances. There is no way so many groups vying for the top spot would be able to agree to who got which leads fairly. Also the arrangements are just sick taking so much advantage of everyone's strengths.

I'm sure a lot of people will act like this isn't true, but Glee has really increased the popularity of doing mashup/medley's. They started back in Season 1 (2009 I think?) and have been doing them since. Even if you're not a Glee fan, they have some very cool mashups that they've done, even combining broadway and pop songs.

How could NBC pull the plug on this show? I just don't get it.

I kinda noticed an imbalance in this performance but I could never pin point what it was. It bugged me everytime I saw this for a couple of years. I finally figured it out. Afro Blue is barely showcased. Kirstins solos suddenly makes sense. I'm betting she covered for one of AB's singers who was having to preserve their voice.

You know what's disgusting? You have a whole crowd of TALENT in front of your eyes and all of ya'll in the comments just want to focus and glorify pentatonix as if the others don't exist and don't matter. If you really support TALENT, check out Afro-blue, Delilah, Committed and all the other groups as well.

I've watched all the season 3 opening acts a few times each, but I notice that it's the same singers that get to sing the main parts again and again in them. Having not seen the whole of the Sing-off just the parts I've seen on you tube, can I ask, do those singers represent the main singers from all of the competing groups? I've noticed that Scott gets to sing a main part in all of them (I think) and the guy from The Dartmouth Aires that did the amazing Queen Medley!
