@estebancolberto I listened to the original, and there were several times where it seems the lead singer intentionally hit notes that were off key. I wouldn't want anyone to hit all of the notes in the original because it would mean hitting bum notes.

@AIReject I have nothing against Adele. You're right, she's an amaizing vocalist, but it's her passion that makes her so; so much more than her ability to hold a note. I'm not saying that you can't have technical perfection and be good, I'm saying that the two concepts aren't mutually exclusive. After all, Muzak is technically perfect, but in the end it's still just elevator music. You have a lot to learn.

@macska92 You wanna hear powerful, emotional songs? Listen to U2's "Sunday Bloody Sunday", The Cranberries' "Zombie", and Simple Plan's "Welcome to My Life". Those are powerful songs right there. You can take away the music from them, and reading them, they'd still hit home as the lyrics say enough.

Okay, I tell you all what my problem is with this rendition. This song is one of the most powerful and emotional rock anthems of all time and they turned it into a cheesy, emotionless party pop anthem you hear on MTV every day. Bad arrangement (the acapella idea itself is not bad but the execution... ugh, it really doesn't work), the choreography doesn't suit the song at all, the second half is like a "who can hit those high notes and scream louder?" competition...(cont.)

@mzimmerman1220 I don't like listening to Neil, Bob, Kurt, or Thom. All of the best versions of songs by them that I've heard and enjoyed have been covers by great vocalists. I don't care about awards, or about being "legendary." I care about someone being talented and being great at what they do, which, if it's singing, means being a great singer. You want someone with passion who I like? ADELE. Why? Because she is an amazing vocalist first, and is also passionate.

I'm surprised this doesn't have more views. It's one of my favorite openers from season 3 with an awesome transition and excellent highlight of the best lead singers from the season.

They are not Arcade Fire. They have their own personality and it made the performance unique. That's what music is, part of the person or group personality. The electronic equipment is for making exact copies.

Yeah, I don't understand why so many people hate this. It obviously isn't the original. But these die hard Arcade Fire fans are acting as though NO ONE can cover Wake Up. There's nothing wrong with interpreting a song.

I can't believe it all fell together for a group of singers like this session did. Everyone in it was great. Very exceptional, thanks for the great experience.

Not to mention that the black guy (don't know his name) successfully butchered my favorite line of the song, and in the end when they all scream "wake up!!"... well, that was the final nail in the coffin. Should I go on? Yes, I'm an Arcade Fire fan and I've heard many different versions of this song, none of them came close to the original but this is possibly the worst I've ever listened to, it's just completely... wrong.

@mzimmerman1220 Don't talk down to me like I'm an uneducated child. It's simple: talent first, passion second. I don't care how passionate you are if you don't have the talent to back it up. William Hung probably had passion for singing. He's still shit at singing. It's really that simple. So, the fact that these guys are more "polished" beats that guy in Arcade Fire singing off-key passionately. Every. Single. Time. Call em when he can do the whole arrangement a cappella. Then we'll talk.

@AIReject first of all the original is BEYOND awesome. Second, he's not singing off pitch on purpose...that's the way he sings, and those of us who are fans wouldn't have it any other way. If you think passion is meaningless, I suggest you look at who won the Grammy for Album of the Year last year. I would also refer you to Neil Young, Bob Dylan, Kurt Cobain, Thom Yorke, and countless other legendary artists who understand that perfect pitch isn't necessarily equated with greatness.

@mzimmerman1220 But the original ISN'T so great. In fact, the lead vocal on it is so bad that at times it sounds like the guy is intentionally going off pitch. I went and listened to it because people here were saying this version ruined the original. I can see no evidence of it being vocally better in any way. I don't care how much passion someone puts into something if they do it badly. Saying something is too polished is idiotic because it means someone has to be worse than it is on purpose.

Hah, that opening is straight up "LOOK AT SCOTT". Which... fair.. But it makes me laugh a bit. Makes it seem like he's this huge guest star being highlighted. Which.. again... fair.. but a bit premature. But they knew what they had to work with and used it!

Okay guys, what is with all the fighting here? Whether it's a good rendition or not, whether the original's good or not, whether this compares to the original or not. Does any of this really matter when you're watching a video on RU-vid? Music is music, isn't it? Seriously, we're all here to listen to the a capella groups of the Sing-Off, not have debates about each and every viewer's personal likes and dislikes of music. Opinions differ, deal with it.

@AIReject Your analogy has illustrated my point exactly...you've found perfection at the hot dog cart, which is completely missing the point of eating food you got from a guy on the street. Personally, if I were going to use a food analogy, I'd say it was like one of those rubber slices of pie they display under lights in the case at a diner. All presentation and no flavor. The reason the original is so great is because of its sincerity and passion...this performance has none of that.

Okay, I think why people don't like this arrangement is because it doesn't include the coda that is in the original, and ends awkwardly instead. And the runs over the chorus don't keep the unified spirit of the original in mind. (Thought admittedly, that is something that is more necessary on the original album than here.)

@13kingsDELSOL I did like the video. The main reason I responded to him initially was because he said the performance was "too polished" which is something that is simply ridiculous on its face.

I think for me, it's just that Arcade Fire's original was so beautiful and original, and this doesn't bring anything new to it (for me). As another commenter said, it's still really good. It just doesn't send me over the moon the way the Aires' Queen medley did (for one example).

Katie is amazing. Why doesn't she ever show this stuff off in Urban Method's performances? I mean, to think that the judges were calling the female vocalists of Urban Method their weak point!

Ok i liked the emotions portrayed in this beautiful song, just the flat harmonies at the beginning really grated on my nerves....but i still LOVE the sing off!!!
