Basically because Andrew has a block on doing songs that are listenable to since 1992. The actual tracks are great, but producing a studio album of new tracks is one of those things that isn't going to happen.
I think he (they) will release and it will be a double album like in the 70's but it will blow any previous double album away in terms of the music and art production. Sop whining about 'the record like a bunch of materialist record junkies. Andrew is one of a kind and does it the way he sees it to be, artistically, personally etc. etc. -which is exactly how it should be. And I think the steady live shows are great way more personal...kind of like occasionally stopping in on a cool and unique neighbor to see what he/she is up to. Keep forging ahead AE.
They've made more than enough songs (at least 20 in the last three years) just haven't put them out for sale. Yet. It was before that, with a couple tracks on the '92 "Greatest Hits" album. They are a band that's hard to come by and even harder to hold in hand.
I do love some of the comments. The other day one guy stated he wouldn't attend live gigs for SOM until new material was released. Andrew does not wish to participate in any more releases due to the crap that comes with it. It's his choice to just tour.

@@ThePlasticGeneral Yea sure, he could record on a home studio. His main issue is the promotional side of it. Let's face it, he sure ain't gonna release any material at all and just carry on doing the touring.
I think they will release an album. They have at least two albums of material now written by the new line up. When they will release it I would not care to guess. There will be a final Sisters record. However we could all be dead by the time it gets released.
