The Skyliners were my favorite band when I was a young boy. At the age of 13 this song because it is so beautiful would make me cry. They are still the best doo-wop band I have ever heard
It's always great to see young people enjoy the music I grew up with. The Skyliners are one of my favorite groups. Thank you Shawn for bringing back those incredible memories.
Definitely love this song. My favorite music is from the late 50s and early 60s even though this is before my time. I will always listen to music from this era.

These are great song, I grew up listening to these wonderful classics, my mother would play them all of the time. I love the 50's and 60's, there is some awesome music from this era that people are really missing out on. Go all the way back to the 50's and move forward.
💕♥!! I was under 6 years old back then but always remember and love this song. Such a classic. Such a different time way back when.... Thanks. Glad you enjoyed it. Yes to the comment below: The Drifters.
The is the type of music my father listened to when I was a child. Never heard this song before, though. I'm so happy you're taking some time to go back in time to the beginning of modern music. This is really cool, Shawn!! Motown was fire in the 60s!!
Shawn there was a time when I was going to 10 different reaction channels now I only go to 1 which of coarse is yours, your choices for music to entertain all of us is everything I want to hear, you rock hard , as always thank you for your time and effort entertaining me and the rest of your followers.
It was a common practice back then for record company executives to add their names to the writing credits. It was part of the Payola scandal of the 1950s. If you watch the Sopranos, the character Hesh Rabkin was one such record label owner.
The coasters had a lot of fun hit songs yakety yak, poison ivy, Charlie Brown. But my friend if you would like to hear them truly sing listen to zing went the strings of my heart. Absolutely amazing!
i was first indtroduced to this song from the soundtrack of the 1973 American Graffiti....beautiful ballad, the orchestra I love, and the vocals. I often sing this one with back up music in my key I did myself, in senior homes. Very Romantic song. there's even a clarinet you can he re in this! the soprano girl singer at the end is phenominal! Yes you can hear the passion from this singer in this song.
For me personally, this was THE definitive song of the 50s. Thanks so much for reacting to it! Other great songs from around this time include "Come Go with Me" by The Del Vikings, "Little Darling" by The Diamonds, and "Since I Fell for You" by Lenny Welch (very similar to this song). Also, there's this great instrumental called "Honeymoon Swoon" by Werner Tautz. All highly recommended.
Danmn Shawn, you're taking us old guys back to the School Dance at the gym, getting the courage to ask that one special girl to dance. Taking fire in Vietnam was less stressful.
The greatest slow song ever recorded. I'm a little biased as I am from Pittsburgh. I grew up about 10 miles from McKeesport Pa where Jimmy was born. This is just one of many songs that came out of the Pittsburgh area.
Yeah Shawn, the Doo Woo era is chock full of fantastic music, & this is one of the cornerstones imo. Just so dang smooth & I could imagine being back then, dancing with my girl! (If I ever get a 50s car, this music is all I’m playing man. I love the ending too, the harmonies & when he hits “you” & she comes in with that power vocal…perfection. Have a playlist & I’d like to share a few if that’s ok, hope you consider reacting to them; “Sh-Boom” by The Chords, “Come Go WithMe” by The Del Vikings, “I Only Have Eyes For You” by The Flamingos, “Take Good Care of My Baby” by Bobby Vee, “Get a Job” by The Silhouettes, “The Stroll” by The Diamonds, “Blue Velvet” by Bobby Vinson, “It’s All in the Game” by Tommy Edwards & “Who Put the Bomp” by Barry Mann. Okay, I’ll stop 😅. Thanks for giving these songs of the past a listen, it ensures they don’t fade away.
The Skyliners are an American doo-wop group form the 50's-60's. They are best known for their 1959 hit "Since I Don't Have You". But they had other good songs such as "Pennies From Heaven", "It Happened Today", "Close Your Eyes", "Comes Love", "This I Swear", "Where Have They Gone?" etc.
I know that you like songs that are emotionally deep. I have a suggestion, if you should want to dive into it. Patty Loveless “You’ll Never Leave Harlan Alive “. The song wasn’t written by her but it parallels her life somewhat, so she has that emotion in it. The best version that I’ve found is on the RU-vid channel stormsontheocean, it’s live. It’s bluegrass music which tends to have a deep emotion in the songs. I just subscribed with this account but I’ve been following you for awhile on my other account. You have good and fair reactions and I enjoy that. Keep up the good work and I hope that you take a chance on this song, I actually think it will blow you away. Thanks 👍👍👍👍👍
@@intothesunset3the video is good also, if it’s the one I’m thinking of with the old photos. I’ve seen few people react to it but they focus on the photos instead of the song. I think he’d enjoy either one if he’ll only give it chance. Thanks for the comment 👍
@@Martin-wn6px Good point, about focusing on the song...the performance you suggested would be best! Sorry, I shouldn't have mentioned the other video (I confess to having a personal interest because I was born there)...the lyrics are so powerful and don't need photos. And that performance is amazing!
Hey, Shawn, in the same vein, if you haven't run across it yet add the song, "Sea of Love," by Phil Phillips and the Twilights. Got to love that Doo-Wop.
Shawn, Shawn, Shawn......I was in high school in 1973 when the movie American Graffiti came out - most everyone from my generation loved it. It caused a 50's and early 60's revival, there were "oldies" stations popping up all over the radio dial and we all learned these great tunes that originally belonged to those a couple generations before us. American Graffiti has, without a doubt, the best soundtrack of any movie ever produced!!!! That sound track included Since I Don't Have You. If you wanna know what else to listen to from that era just make a list of songs from that sound track. BTW, you should check out the movie too - a cool, if somewhat exaggerated, glimpse into teenage life during those times.
These old Doo Wop songs are just FUN to hear. Check out 'One Summer Night' by the Danleers, 'Twilight Time' by the Platters, 'Earth Angel' by the Penguins, and on and on. Great rabbit hole to just wander around in....
Shawn, good stuff. Suggest:......"Tears on my pillow" by Little Anthony....."Only you" by Platters....."Blue angel" by Roy Orbison......"Bo Diddley" by Bo Diddley
Great choice!!!! Jimmy Beaumont was one of the greatest singers ever. I'm listening to this beautiful song over 60 yrs, never got tired of it and one of the greatest songs ever! THIS I SWEAR by them is 🔥🔥🔥 also. Kudos to everyone involved making this song superb. I suggest THERES A MOON OUT TONIGHT by the Capris
I enjoy your reactions with the music I grew up with late 50s thru late 80s you are bringing back memories for a lot of members thanks. I just told you how old I am. just listen to Don McLean version and it is great sounds almost original
Such a great song, it's timeless so beautiful. Jimmy Beaumont was one of the greatest singers ever. I SWEAR is equally as good. You mentioned u take suggestions from RU-vid but what about subscribers that were there for songs of the past. I suggested very good songs, they were never played I'm listening to music since 58, I can suggest many very good songs.
Before my time - but DooWop has always been my favorite genre! When anyone tells me they can sing - I suggest they show me, by singing some doo wop. Please react to the Del-Vikings - Come and Go With Me
You probably should take a listen to " high on a hill " by Scott English. Great doo-wop sound. Poor timing. Recorded in 1964 when that genre was enjoying its last glimmer of attention. It had that 1958 sound in 1964 while the British invasion had already established itself.
It would be so cool if you did a reaction to 'American Graffiti'! (Why do I always spell it Grafitti?). If you love this music, you'll love the movie! It's as though you're transported back to the 50s.
