Actually fermento if you had been to Russia or some of the other country's who truly love their ballet - you would know that they cheer as they see greatness. The audiences aren't full of stuffy rich folk who are there to be seen. They truly enjoy what they are watching. And YES I have been and was caught up in the excitement. Bravo Tsiskaridze!
Exactly Deborah, I lived in Russia and Poland and have been there to concerts, opera and ballet (there was Opera Theater near my house in Bytom, Poland) and people always cheered. It's normal there. People here think it's disturbing to the orchestra and other performers and sometimes it might be but in Eastern Europe going to these concerts was an escape from every day struggle. A different world and tickets were so inexpensive. I always got them for free from school or later from work. That is how they spread culture, by exposing people to it. That was about the only good thing about the socialist system.
As for Tsiskaridze, after watching many others, I always come back to him. There is something magnetic about, his presence on the stage, grace and beauty of his movements Perfection...
@@BytomGirl He has a presence which is magnetic, an elegant form, athleticism, and... brio. Lots of brio. But it is not this which has inspired me. This appearance was just four years after that accident which would have ended most dancers' careers, perhaps even their lives. What it cost him to bring himself back up to this level is unimaginable... but he did it. Because of this, when I have encountered people on social media who were about to go in for serious orthopedic surgery and were in fear for their mobility and their future, I have posted a montage of Mr. Tsiskaridze's performances and told his story. Always, they have thanked me and told me they faced their ordeal with better heart because of his inspiration.
Actually, if you are talking about car accident, it was not so significant, his big injury was sustained a year after this performance in 2003 in Paris when he rehearsed with Roland Petit and he almost died of sepsis and staph and had 10 surgeries. In 2004 he danced demanding double role in Midsummer Night Dream and in Bright Stream. He is an inspiration to many
@@BytomGirl I believed this clip to have been made in 2007. Yes; his courage has surely inspired those who knew of him; not that many Americans do, but they are inspired once they hear his story. Hope is necessary to courage; courage is necessary to life!
Incredible.. he is amazing dancer and will always be my favorite.. I wish there were DVDs available, so sad that except for Pique Dame none are available anywhere. If there was no Yo Tube we wouldn't be able to watch this wonder. Shame
I see you created this account to write bad comments under every great video of Nikolay Tsiskaridze. So tired of this spammers. It is a well known fact, that he is one of the best dancers in this word. And who cares what kind of person he is. I personally saw many of his interviews and I can say that he is a very intelligent person. One learns so much from his interviews. He also has a few shows in Kultura TV, where he explains every ballet in detail. so on.. so on...
He is a wonderful person, speaks truth, doesn't pat anybody on the back (I call it integrity), has a sense of humor, is educated and intelligent and is gentle and yes, he loves to be adored but which artist doesn't? I watched most of his interviews (I understand Russian) and I think they are very interesting and engaging, never boring. He is a very versatile dancer, from classics and modern dance to tango, rumba, waltz and cabaret. He is perfection to me.
@@BytomGirl Has he ever experimented with flamenco? He certainly had the physique and bearing for it (I don't advocate it now, when it might aggravate old injuries)
Note: There was a tradition that, in the sands of time, Caucasian Iberia and peninsular Iberia were connected. That tradition, though still accepted in Georgia, is regarded as unprovable; yet the only two countries I've seen producing male dancers of such majestic bearing are Georgia and Spain.
Superlativo.Bighin Giulio Renzo.😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
I'm sorry but nowhere outside Russia such a level of classical dance exists. It used to be in France, but now they are rarely seen in classics, For companies like Bolshoi, Mariinsky and Grand Opera they've got to keep up dancing classics more than modern choreography (70/30) otherwise the level of classics falls down deliberately and you turn into ABT, e.g.:-)
It did appear that on this occasion, he was a hair behind the beat and did not have quite the brio one expects of him. Of course, a bad day for him is a good day for most others, but I suspect he was working through some degree of unwellness or pain.
@MrNocco Agree that he does not always have stretched knees - I hate this and I've noticed it on many videos of his - but he really does make time stand still on those cabrioles. He also lands softly in 5th, has presence, turns well. More good than bad imo! :-)
I guess you failed to know or remember he had horrible knee injury and had 10 surgeries and almost died of sepsis, was not supposed to even walk, much less dance so stop your knit picking. He is amazing and no one else would even be dancing after what he went through.
@Pearlaceous my first comment on this video is old and my views have changed in many aspects.... but i still do not find so much power in his dance... he has energy but he is sloppy in many ways... good height of jump but those tours were not so good, and he is doing a shortened version of the manege which is a shame.... he has everything it is a pity he doesn't work with precision enough...
And I have just read some comments denigrating David Hallberg. There is absolutely no comparison in the precision of their dancing. I have never seen Mr Hallberg do anything inelegant or sloppy, so there is little the two have in common.
Marina28ish I like Sarafanov very much, especially as Basilo and Mercutio. He is one of the few male dancers who can perform together with Osipova, for example
Dayum, you're still dragging around after all his filmed performances so you can carp about them? You're starting to sound like a female rejected Stage Door Johnny.
wow its a woman in mans clothes who almost did a single cabriole!! and almost kept her knee stretched in the manege! he does not deserve the title of principal
As someone who has lived long and travelled far, I am a bit nonplussed as to how anyone could mistake Mr. Tsiskaridze for a woman. It's interesting you should mention knees, though. He had so severe an accident that it's a wonder he has any knees. I don't know when the video was made, but if after, his slight lag behind the beat when he was having a difficult day is understandable. I'd agree with the commenter that if this dancer's performance is distasteful to you, you follow another you find more agreeable. Those who follow a performer only to disparage them almost give the impression of being motivated by some type of jealousy.
@@reymohammed7040 You are absolutely right sir. Looking back at myself 10 years ago, I was an angry envious ballet dancer. I still think he is one of the most overrated male dancers, but nobody can deny he was very good.
@@k1kk0ssbm13 I admire you for admitting that. A part of the enthusiasm for Mr. Tsiskaridze's performances comes, I think, from his unusual acting ability. For my part, I am not enough of a connoisseur to pick on dancers' toes, a fetishy concept in any event. But art is effective in proportion to its ability to communicate the mind of its creator to the heart of the audience. In this, Tsiskaridze's skill as an actor is a multiplier of his talent as a dancer. He is equally convincing as the ravaged innocent of "The Youth and Death" and the murderously creepy instructor in "The Lesson". The latter character is convincingly what I would have taken a subway train going the wrong way to avoid. To someone who has laboriously perfected technique, the latter skill might seem meretricious. I don't find it so. Anything an artist can use that adds to the impact of the art is legitimate. Of course, sometimes, no matter what an artist does, the material still stinks. That's a whole different issue. Mr. Tsiskaridze has retired from the stage; a younger generation will give us our next phenomenon. That is how things go. We either die young, or we get old. I did the latter a while back. We may all be thankful for not doing the former.
