When I woke up this morning I was really stressing about getting a video published this week. When this happens I try to remind myself why I make these videos in the first place. And I kept thinking about how great this community is, and that the whole reason I have this channel is to interact with you. So I turned on the camera and tried my best to share that feeling with the BEST community on RU-vid!
Brother, great chat! This hobby and community it’s just amazing. Same as you, I tried being part of different communities prior and nothing compares to this community. I was shy before attempting to go on RU-vid, it’s helped me and so many others in so many ways. You hit the nail on the head, if people are in doubt, just try hitting record! Having a hobby is definitely good for your mental health. It allows you time to forget about the world and what is going on in it, as well as taking you away from your everyday concerns. The slot car community is massive, with most of us not running a youtube channel, but being prepared to offer advice if a member of the community is experiencing difficulties with their cars, track, etc. As long as you don't get too serious about it, the hobby will give you a great amount of enjoyment.
Yes. It is a great community!! I appreciate all of the youtubers out there. I got into the hobby about 3 years ago when I retired and the journey has been awesome. It is amazing how many different directions you can go in this hobby. It's a little lonely here in N.E. Mississippi for slot car lovers but watching you guys on youtube helps a lot. Right now I have a 4-lane track about 60 feet in length and has been a blast to run my cars on. I run mostly magless because my cars do not get destroyed as bad but I have a few that I have left the magnets in and every now and then I run them with the grandkids!!!

Thanks Pete even the reel world I'm a quiet guy usually in the back field but I do like the slot car Community I started talking to Dan from slot Valley I race viper 1/64 car with a bunch of my friend but needed a track in my basement so Dan told me about Carrera digital cause my wife don't want nothing to do with racing so that mean I'm in the basement bye myself till my Son -in- law comes over to play. So I guess what I'm saying I have learned a lot from everyone in this community. Don't know if i will have my own channel but I enjoy who and what I see. Can't wait for yours and Joes next show. Yea, I agree with you 100%. I have no close friends after moving to a different country, so the youtube channel keeps me in contact with like-minded people. It's so interesting to watch the different characters and enjoy their views and opinions/advice. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. 🤗.....Harry
Great video. I originally watched the first time because of your name "Show-Me Slot Cars. Being in Missouri, I had to watch. Many videos later I've subbed and look forward to each of your video's. Being retired, and a old slot car racer { 40 years ago } I've decided to give the hobby a second try. And you are one of the reasons. Your totally believable and like where your head is at. Pete, I have had a crazy couple weeks at work and finally catching up on videos for this week and listened over lunch. I knew if I was going to hare my experiences in the hobby in the public space that I was going to open myself up for criticism. My plan was to be transparent that I wanted to learn.. so every time I get a comment that points out something I am doing wrong, I celebrate those who are willing to help me do it better. The knowledge share in this community is fantastic. Yes, there will always be some drama. Human beings are involved, so it is inevitable. Communicating is the key to fix all of those things. We're just catching up on this after seeing Pete & Rahul talking about it. We really enjoyed the video. Both Sasha & I had that same experience when we started last July, so I couldn't agree more. It really is a great community, and we're constantly surprised by the kindness and camaraderie that people show. Im pretty new in to this and I too was surprised how welcoming and friendly everyone is. I picked up the hobby after I was diagnosed with PTSD and I cant overstate how much it helped me. I was hesitating to start a Chanel worried about trolls, unnecessary competition and the general internet toxicity, but thats not the case. My like rate on youtube is 98% and numbers dont lie!
That is a fantastic sentiment! People in this hobby are interested in all kinds of things, and sharing what you are doing is probably going to land with SOMEONE in the community. I love your projects by the way!
Brother!! Thank you so much for doing this. Your honest nature truly comes out in this video. I feel the same way about this community. I am truly grateful that we get to share not only a hobby together but also a few projects that give back to the community, like the Discord. I've met and spoken to many slot heads and we all have something good to bring to the table. You really nailed this one and I'm glad there's a video out there now, documenting how we feel about this hobby. Bravo mon ami!!
Great video, I just came back the the slot car hobby. Put together my Large HO set/cars. I was checking RU-vid for vids. Found Digital 132...Made the plunge to digital. Then I started a RU-vid channel as well. It's a bit of a video journal. I am very primitive with my vids so far. Have a tripod and it's very handy. So far so good on my channel. First race night is tomorrow with my mates! Waiting on a bunch more track/bluetooth and move. But having a lot of fun with the digital slots.

Ride on Peter! I remember you from your beginning on the live stream and my comments, trying to get you going. But me, I am myself the biggest breaking block in terms of starting a chanel. Technically, I could do so, but my health often strikes me out, to do so. I am steady working on my health improovement, but those are long and little steps. Each day sometimes is a struggle to even get out of bed and go to physio-therapy. But, to be honest, I will arrive soon enuff, too late. So stay tuned for the final day, until I get my stuff together. Meanwhile, I am watching all the clips by our community and other slotheads. Keep the good things goin and every day is a new day to get further. Get on with it, Brother. 🙂
