I have to admit, watching all these media companies and video game studios merging into giant conglomerates and slowly collapsing under their own bloated weight over the last few years has been morbidly fascinating. I know that it's going to have some definite economic repercussions for a number of reasons, but how often do you get to see an entire industry just fall over like this?
The worst part is that the Apollo deal is still getting her a shit ton of money, she is rejecting the deal over a small percentage gain. rejecting the hassle free 1.8 billion for the contested 2 billion.
The worst part is her & her father look like fucking demons. They don’t look human at all, the only one who did was the founder. More proof that the kids of people who are rich and successful eventually just devolve into sociopathic creatures not worth living. But hey, we enjoy a world with problems and people who cause them.
The sudden jump and fall that you can see as a thin peak isn't really anyone's fault given it was due to an unrelated fund trying to stay afloat when their ponzi scheme fell apart.
Never heard of SkyDance, but I know Paramount very well, even worked for the company personally. However, Lady Redstone has been trying to steal the company and ruin it since Sumner went on his death bed. She isn't in it for the content or business, she's in it to make money and ditch the company.

@@NotKimiRaikkonen they only reason every industry has a big four is because we stopped enforcing fair competition and antitrust laws for the last 40 years. If you enforce these laws to keep markets competitive, its pretty rare for an oligopoly to emerge, as it was for the 70 years we enforced these laws. We treat concentration of capital like its this inevitable thing that's a normal feature of a healthy market, but it's not. Many, many problems in America have roots in our choice to not enforce antitrust, and our inability to adapt antitrust laws to modern technology. Share buybacks used to be illegal, and US economy had a giant middle class.

Monopolistic Sony? Their movie business is so much smaller than it used to be. Disney and Netflix have way more IP Also, the Sony deal is a mess anyway. There will be legal issues since it's an international firm, so they are planning to sell most of the business and only use whatever IP they can. They can't own CBS so that part of the business will be sold.
But a lot of them aren't huge expensive shows which is why the economics still favors Netflix especially when you can spread that cost over a global audience of several hundred million households.. So even if its not a massive hit there's generally enough of an audience to justify the spending...
The only person killing Paramount is Shari Redstone. It's only hope is to merge with one of the other middling studios that hasn't scaled up like Warner Bros... Skydance doesn't have the best leadership if you haven't been paying attention and has only stayed in business because of the owners daddy who founded Oracle...
I don't get it. They have some of THE BEST quality shows out of any streaming service... Yellowstone and all of its prequels r AMAZING. There is absolutely no reason y they should b cancelled just because some greedy CEO wants more money 😡
That could just as easily move to a new service. Paramount is just how those people were making money. If they can get netflix to sign on, its can go and do the next season over there.

Yes, in fact she would have a contract being CEO that would outline her responsibilities. And she has a duty to the shareholders, not HERSELF, to make them profit. When they do this, they open themselves up to legal consequences like lawsuits and even jail. Shari Redstone needs jail time lol. She knows damn well what she is doing and needs to be stopped. Give her shares to some non-profit. She doesn't deserve them.

Ok let me get this straight: she rejects an offer where Apollo Global would pay a 200+% premium for the Paramount Global stock because she instead wants a deal where Paramount Global is sold 30% BELOW value because the latter deal yields her - but only her - a billion dollar profit? It seems quite obvious and evident that mergers aren't as ideal as people think they are. Yet these executives still seem obsessed with merging left, right and centre. They might be getting money but is the chaos and suffering of others worth it?
For many, becoming CEO is a grift. They don't care about performance, they get into the role strictly for the money. If/When they fail, they'll get another shot elsewhere because they're now "seasoned". They do this a couple times, then just join boards, the next grift.

Old media is dead. Like deader than dead. No one watches super overproduced, uninspired media anymore. RU-vidrs/TikToker/Twitch streamers are more entertaining. Netflix will buy out their IP and that will be the end of it. Good riddance
Well once this deal goes through she will probably step down as the leader she just wants a big payday and go exit the company she does not want to run the company like her father once that happens shareholders can put pressure on skydance to reassemble the merger overall I think this a big winner for paramount shareholders because the films skydance already owns will be exclusive to paramount driving more subscriptions also they can make more original paramount films and TV shows with a bigger production film company now apart of paramount

I stay away from Media stocks and the media that they have. I just don't see the entertainment there anyway. I used to go to a lot of Paramount movies. All the Trek movies. All of them! Well....
Idc about titles so calling me a misogynist does nothing, but does anyone else see the trend/ correlation of women being in charge of these companies or their strategies and the companies ultimately failing? I.e. Anheiser Busch, lucasfilm, Xbox/ Microsoft, Amazon etc.
