The way Bruce taught has always been one on one. He said that everyone is unique and each has his/her natural movements. He was able to take what you have and manifest your innate abilities and magnifies it to your fullest extent. He'll condition and prepare you first then step by step guides you through his JKD methodically. He was just an amazing, selfless human being.
Unlike most choreographed fights, Lee's actions scenes are for real. That's why we see so many hidden movements when we slow them down. Watching his films this way is actually very educational if you want to learn how to fight in real world. Same cannot be said for most other martial arts films. Trying to learn from those will likely get yourself killed in real fights, LOL.
The way he pushes Bob Wall's hand down with his left hand and then strikes him in the face with his right. All in a split second (Enter the Dragon). The way Lee uses his eyes to distract Norris into believing a low. left kick is coming and then faints that kick to set him up for a roundhouse right kick to the face (Way of the Dragon). While choreographed, his speed and skill are undeniable.
Was just like his arms and legs were alive. Was like his arms and legs were not commanded by his brain but act by fight instinct... amazing to see!! Amazing level!!
@@ants9151 Well you know...-It COMES from WC ,but it goes beyond it !It´s JEET KUNE DO,BL "mixed" WC-trapping,"floating blocks"(tan sao, bong sao...)with hard blocks(as known in karate and many other styles),that´s another level !!!It´s MORE"floating" than WC(...BE like WATER...!),it´s BETTER !More "TAO" -YIN AND YANG !!!
@@thomasotto8693 And Bruce Haters don't know this and don't know art of fighting just straight disrespecting an Asian icon because they're pathetically jealous or racist.
So thankful my dad loved Bruce Lee! He taught me a lot from him at a very early age right from his book and movies. Every little secret and technique we practiced daily helped so much in our martial arts tournaments and in the boxing ring. Bruce Lee and jeet June do techniques have tremendously helped me in the boxing ring. I mean levels ahead of many opponents from various jeet Kune do techniques. A lot of defense. I think it has to with the wing chun type defense I was taught with soft blocks and hard blocks and some trapping. I’ve trained boxing since I can remember. I am 25 now and appreciate Bruce a lot. He’s kinda of a secret to my generation. They don’t respect him has a true fighter and martial artist, only an actor. He is the truth.
Bruce might not have fought in real tournaments. But he had the physical attributes of a fighter and the smarts. If Bruce Lee had fought he would have been champion in his weight class.
Yes of course - bis speed and power was out of this world! But his concept of martial art was made for the street...hit 2 groin, finger jabs, the neck as target! What I mean is, Bruce would could kill his opponent without problems! This man was incredible and unique
+Alexander Ossa Yep! he is way faster than what you are seeing. while filming the movie, Lee was asked many times to slow down his moves so cameras can capture them...
The bestest film ever. Bruce Lee, was my idol, my poem, my teacher, my mentor with his great words and techniques, His portrait was in the main place at home, and when I was training from the teenager! The greatest man who had no tax or girdle because he was above them! Absolute respect and bow! from old BG.
people might think oh he is so skinny how could any of his punches hurt. Listen, take a little stone, and throw it up in the air and let it land on your head. Now think of how much that hurts. When you punch objects thousands of times, it creates tiny hairline fractures that heal up over time, making the bones in which soever part of the body you practice with much more dense and harder. Now imagine the speed of bruce lee's fist hitting your face. Harder than a rock.
Lee had dangerous power which would always result in death or knockouts! Lee's power made Tyson look like a tickle! Lee had speed faster than the legendary Muhammad Ali, Ali was fast but not invisible blinding speed like Lee! Lee is the greatest warrior of his time but perhaps all time!
+Akbar Great ... Hello I personally agree with you that Bruce Lee had a more stronger and powerful punch than Tyson. For Bruce size and technique and took a mathematical calculation of PSI of his punch. I would put money on bruce that for his body weight, mass and size his Psi would be a higher than Mike Tyson. Yes I know Tyson is a heavy weight but if you even out and calculate the speed and simply sublime speed of Bruce Lee. I genuinely think Bruce Lee would have a higher and stronger punch rate. ps. ( PSI = Pressure by Square Inch. ). But I suppose we will never know. Either way Bruce Lee individual style and Mike Tyson style are completely subjective, therefore my assumptions of strength is based on my personal perspective and without proper research and calculations I could be wrong until proven. so until then I will agree with Akbar and say Bruce Lees punches is stronger and definitely faster than Mike Tyson.
He is absolutely the one & only- the best of the best , hands down! Truly, my personal hero & idol growing up & still is after all these years. Keep up the good work Shannan in keeping his legacy alive & still well respected all over the globe!
Asa Forte: that was a question with excellent foresight. That's like asking Muhammad Ali if he could have beaten himself in shadow boxing. LOL. I once heard a rumor that the only person Bruce Lee was concerned of in the boxing ring was Muhammad Ali. Ali claimed he was so fast that if he turned off the light in his bedroom, he could be lying down in the bed before the light went out. Bruce had great respect for Muhammad Ali. I know of no other person Bruce Lee ever claimed to have been concerned about. I invite others to add to this statement or contadict it. I'm just looking for the truth of what Bruce Lee once may have said.
The reason why I took an interest in martial arts or hand to hand combat has a name and it is Bruce Lee no other martial artist in the world has been more influential in the art of fighting than Bruce himself many could say that he wasn’t a real fighter but that is no matter his legacy speaks for itself, name another martial artist who has created his own unique fighting technique without caging it as a style or system of fighting his believe was to integrate whatever that was useful and effective and discard that witch was not a true master of his craft and the best that has ever done it period
bruce lee was powerful and very strong for his size as well as lighting fast, when he start teaching martial art in usa other Chinese masters try to stop him and challenge him,as only he can teach if he beat all of them, bruce lee knocked out best martial artist master in 3 min.....he learned for ip man the best wing chug teacher of all time...so please respect him he is inspiration of millions ....
+Raj bh If you mean the fight with Wong Jack Man, the Shaolin master, you are wrong. It was a brutal 25 minute fight and it was considered a tie because Bruce ran out of steam. There was only one mark on WJM, a red mark where Bruce used a bil jee jab and struck him between the eyes.
i know it's always said but he was so ahead of his time it's almost bizarre the things he was doing. he was using feints in his movies in the early 70's which today is one of the most important tools to have especially ufc fighters.
Bruce Lee can still kick asses of the MMA fighters even in today. The MMA fighter has the power and strong body, but their knowledge about martial and speed can not match Bruce's.
Not the point is another: Bruce had not rules, was so strong and ferocious went fight. That are just moovies, but he told: "...if some body of my fun, would see me fight realy, he'll think that i'm a sanguinary, very bad to saw...". I think that his right side kick was the most powerfull on this planet, probably with the double power respect Scott Adkins. Went at HG tv broke four on five wood tablettes (2,6 cm each one), taken just with one hand, without a support that would take resistance at the impact....man this stuff are super human
Bruce's era still didn't have MMA, his philosophy created that. And he had created JKD and martial art house, and beat some professional fighters with his lightning quick moves. If he's not professional, then who's professional?
Jarkid Shen I'm not here to offend Bruce or underestimate him coz I truly consider him the most influential martial artist ever. However, I believe that overestimating his abilities would damage his image rather than magnifying it. Bruce was a martial artist and an actor as he introduced himself in the interview he had with Pierre Berton. He didn't refer to himself as a fighter. MMA didn't exist in Bruce's era, but other martial arts were available, and prominent fighters dashed into stardom in 50s, 60s and 70s like Sugar Ray Robinson, Mohammed Ali and Chuck Norris who was Karate world champ for 7 years. Bruce Lee didn't go that way coz he didn't believe that tournaments would show who the best really was, but at the same time didn't try to do anything else to prove that he was a true fighter! He rather spent most of his time working on movies! I personally don't understand why matches in the ring were not up to Bruce's level? A fighter like Sugar Ray Robinson who's widely considered the best boxer of all time fought 129 official matches and lost only 19. Where's Bruce from that? Bruce didn't fight professional fighters at all, even Chuck Norris himself laughed at that notion and referred to the fact that he was a real fighter while Bruce was an actor, check this link: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Mcl81ldNODc.html. Being said, current MMA fighters shed blood to support their families, this is the only thing they do to earn money, so please don't underestimate their abilities at all. Besides, Bruce Lee had no idea what MMA is, how do you expect him to beat the likes of Jose Aldo or Anderson Silva if he was resurrected and thrown into the octagon against these top fighters. He would be mashed and smashed no argue about it!
BannerIncredibleHulk they are not in the same era, who knows if which of them would win a fight? Remember Bruce's fight has no rules, the conclusion you can make is Bruce's philosophy created MMA, and all of them are professional. And fast didn't lie, Bruce has the power and speed at once. A lion didn't have legit fight records, but that doesn't mean they can't kill the human.
Just from this video, he was doing Question-mark kick( Israel adesanya, saenchai), blocking knee kick( Jon Jones), Superman punch( pettis), arm bar( bjj) and counterstriking ( The spider). And this is just movies, who knows what else he knew in real
All carefully choreographed movie stunts. Show us BL in a real fight, against a moving target that fights back. Were is BL's win loss record? Why didnt BL ever try to fight World PKA kickboxing champ, Bill "Superfoot" Wallace? (the worlds fastest kick clocked at 60mph). Or any Gracies from Brazil? Or even any amature fights? No luck...BL never fought for real.
It was well documented Bruce had real fights off camera, his close friends spoke of this. He had a real fight on the set of enter the dragon, James who was a close friend of lee spoke in an interview , of a time where lee was challenged at his home address . Bruce battered him
+Randal Colling will you list your credentials against those of real fighters who were witnesses to the brilliance and legitimacy of Bruce's fighting prowess? Have you even bothered? How about Bruce's own claims that he was the real deal? Are you calling him a liar? Is everyone else who says he was the real deal lying? What about the opinions of those who are in a position to know? Have you heard what Gene LeBell had to say about Bruce? You know what? His ability and elite functionality is so apparent as to defy skepticism. His athleticism is enough to warrant taking him at his word.
+Randal Colling good catch. I've challanged bruce lee fans to link me to bruce lee "real fight" footage. No one has provided any, ever. All that happens is excuse-making and naive people calling me a dumbass.
Just wanted to share... David Chin, a friend of Wong Jack Man's, also the man who instigated the fight between Wong Jack Man and Bruce Lee, came clean in a more recent interview that Bruce's camp was telling the truth about the fight. Here's an excerpt: "Eventually Bruce’s relentless advance caused Wong to stumble over a small step, into an untenable position on the floor where Bruce hollered “Do you yield?” in Cantonese over and over while pummeling him repeatedly. Having lost his footing, Wong had no choice but to concede. “From there, he said he gives up and we stopped the fight,” recalls David Chin. “The whole thing lasted…not more than seven minutes.” A link to the article: fightland.vice.com/blog/bruce-lee-vs-wong-jack-man-fact-fiction-and-the-birth-of-the-dragon
@ 2:26 to 2:56. And @ 3:50 to 4:50 he really fuck you up. There's no way you can see it coming. It's my very very favourite. Love and missed you master Bruce Lee the LEGEND. Its very sad to see you gone too soon. RIP.
All these slow motion shots won't tell you much about his skill, he had to slow to about a quarter his normal speed just so the camera would catch what he was doing. At first he moved as he would in real life but in editing it looked like he would just appear at the target with everything in between missing which means that in a thirtieth of a second you got hit hard. Even the shot of the 1" punch here somewhere on RU-vid was hard to see at 100 frames per second! Now that's pretty fast. If you were to attack him, you wouldn't know what happened, you wouldn't see much. And to die of an allergy to a pain killer, now that really was a loss to the martial arts and his family.
Bruce will never be duplicated. Unmatchable speed, even until today. Power to body size unrivaled. And the ability to read your movements. He truly is the greatest fighter and Martial artist that has ever lived. And that's just the bottom line.
People need to realise what Bruce Lee done for the world. He made the West respect the East. It wasn't just about fighting or who he could beat. He was about true spirit, grit, determination and real sense of character. He was a real massive inspiration to me when I was a kid being bullied. Always stand your ground, look your opponent straight in the eyes, and never show any fear, and if you fight, you fight not like a human, but like an animal, pure f***in animal. Thanks Bruce Lee. Pure f***in LEGEND.
Nobody today can fully emulate his onscreen fighting. He was a one off like Mozart or da Vinci or Tesla. He was born a physical genius and Martial "Artist". His speed was almost supernatural. Thanks for the great video.....
Hard work, not born like that :) His friend William Cheung was faster and has the fastest punches in the world. He was his bodyguard as well when they were young, he stuided advanced skill from Master Ip man that Lee didn't had access for some reason.
BRUCE LEE MADE MARTIAL ARTS WHAT IT IS TODAY! MARTIAL ARTS MOVIES AND EVEN MMA WOULD NOT BE AS POPULAR AS THEY ARE TODAY WITHOUT HIS SKILL, DEDICATION AND UNIQUE CHARISMATIC PERSONALITY!
father of mma....awesome fighter and the biggest inspiration for older martial artists who grew up with his movies and took martial arts because of Bruce...first man who gave up on systems and combined the usefull stuff from many martial arts.Legend
Every time I watch anything on Bruce Lee, I smile like I was still a 6 year kid watching his movies when I was a child growing up, since I was Born in 75. I used to mimic Bruce Lee's style to the point I would practice kicking and punching my walls as a child. Loved Bruce Lee so much, I took up Martial Arts. The Man was my Hero and Idol. And Remained as such. No one on this Planet would stand a chance against this man. Respect and Love for Bruce Lee. Thank You So much.
No words is enough for this man, he is just from different planet, he is so fast and so quick and of course so powerful. He will be not forgotten for generation and generations. He is a Icon
Been watching Bruce since I was a kid. There has never been anyone better for me anyways. I used some of those kick-block techniques(blocking the opponents kicks) they really worked fantastically!! His blocks and feints were and are very practical, you have to work on it, but you can get that down. Take away the thought about doing and just let your mind and body react without thought.
