you've nailed it again !!! Super useful. That with the timeline icon on the desktop is making things cheekily efficient ! I still live for the day when we can select our favourite fonts in a drop down or equivalent. Or list all fonts used in a project..... Thanks Alex.

About different frame rates…. If some clips are 30 fps and others are 24, can they be just dropped onto the same timeline or used at all in the same project? I don’t recall ever seeing this discussed, anywhere. I have Studio.
@MrAlexTech
@MrAlexTech Месяц назад
Yeaaah you can do. 24fps footage on 30fps footage will look a little choppy but it will still work. Same as 30fps on 24fps timeline. Resolve is quite smart though and it will smooth things out a little
@undefwun2135
@undefwun2135 Месяц назад
Davinci does a great job with higher fps footage on lower fps timelines. Never had to try to go the other way... My timelines are usually 24 fps, but I shoot most of my stuff in 60fps. At anything unscripted (like events, parties, clubs) when something happens you don't have the time to switch. Nothing worse than having a perfectly good moment that would look amazing in slow mo, but you forgot or didn't have time to switch (although on my R6II I have custom modes set so its literally just a flick of a dial). Results look perfectly smooth to me... and I have enough frames to run anything at 40% speed without needing Davinci to AI generate frames for slow mo.

I am not seeing the 'Update Usage for the Entire Project'. Is that something new in 19? I'm still on 18.5. Otherwise, this is an excellent, really informative tutorial, Alex. As usual! Thank you for making it!

Very useful, you can also do most if not all of this on the edit page though I am finding I cannot tick Show in all Projects when editing a custom smart bin (only when first creating it), which also means I cannot do it when duplicating one (perhaps due to my using 19beta5)

Thanks Alex. Do you have any tips on how to leverage the “Unused” smart bin to either delete, or move, the unused source files? I would find that very handy to tidy up the project folders on my HDD.

Is there any option to do this with Power Bins? I use those much more than Smart Bins, although I now see how useful smart bins can be.
@NOIRGRADE
@NOIRGRADE Месяц назад
Be careful with the usage number though. This only counts when a timeline has been loaded. If you have multiple timelines in the project you need to load those first in order to have this work as expected.

Hi Alex, thanks for the video 🙏🏽 I have a question: is there any way in DaVinci to “consolidate” a project? Specifically, I want to get rid of all unused media, including unused parts of clips in the timelines, without making a backup. My goal is to free up space on my SSD by shrinking the project.

Great! 💪 Now, what is the best (smartest!) way to deleting the actual media files behind the unused clips (not just the reference)? Ps: The Media Management tool unfortunately always failed me.
