I knew a man who had an AGP for 20+ years. When the man got married in his 40s after a long bachelorhood...just him and the bird...the parrot kept telling the new wife to go home. 😂
Years ago I knew a grey African parrot who did have conversations but also cursed, called the dog, whistles Beethoven, talked badly about the cat, and you would think you were speaking with a human if didn’t know better
Me and my best friend were thrown under the bus for smoking weed by an African grey when it started asking everyone and their if they "Wanna get high?"
African grays are probably the best talkers and most intelligent of all the parrots. Years ago saw a woman on TV that had worked with one and he could tell all the colors, etc. Amazing birds!
All these African Gray Parrots sound like Dustin Hoffman in 'Rainman' to me. Maybe play the movie for him and he'll pick up some of the lines. That would be really funny....definitely...it definitely would....definitely.
1)"Shrek" 2) They're also apparently smart enough to be able to actually understand what they're saying outside of just context. 3) I would teach one to say two of my most common words/phrases:"What?" and "I dunno"
Apollo, Cosmo, Gizmo and Einstein are all incredibly smart, so much that it's kinda creepy. Gizmo's full sentences and contextual questions and responses blow me away. Apollo calling things Shrock for the reactions is ihilarious. Be sure to check out all the Greys
Notice that unlike stupid animals, Apollo doesn't require a food reward for giving correct answers. Birds are delighted just to be with you having fun, as long as you put in the time and effort to keep them happy.
Dr. Irene Pepperberg worked with a grey named Alex for decades whose accomplishments were incredible. Not just labels, but categories such as same, different, counting (including discovering himself the concept of zero). Two books, a ton of scientific papers and news articles, lots of videos. Worth reading if you are interested in avian intelligence. I understand this guy uses some of the same training techniques.
When I was a teenager my parents had a green Amazon parrot and one of the things he was taught to say was ‘shut the door!’ Apparently I never closed the door behind me. George made sure I never forgot again! This parrot is marvellous and his owner clearly puts in the time with him 👏🏻🦜🇬🇧
@@childofcascadia I don’t agree, intelligence is not a noun , it doesn’t come in a bag , it’s more like a fluid application of relevant conduct , can a parrot hold a pencil ? Build rudimentary objects with Lego for example ? Catch a ball ? Express difference states of being , In truth you have no way of knowing if a parrot is as intelligent as a child so get off your perch , at best it is just rhetorical. Good day to you
Could he stop talking if you told him to be quiet or would he just keep going all day and through the night? And do you say everything around him and he goes off and tell all those things you said around him to others?
He does have hilarious conversations with himself. He was a rescue parrot. He lived under pretty bad conditions for 16 years I think it was. It’s pretty amazing how much he’s learned since being rescued.
Gizmo is another AGP. I don't know if she's the same one as Giz or not. Gizmo says her name and has a bad crush on Einstein which e believe is another AGP. She loves to say her name and suoerstar a lot. She also tells the cat to be quiet anlit too. 😂🤣
you'e driving the poor bird insane and you're a suitable case for treatment too. besides, apollo ain't the smartest bird around. i've seen other ones singing complete Mozart-airs. for god's sake, why ?!?
I love you, is the most important, I tell it to my dog 100x plus a day, but sadly he can not say it back just show it. So I would love to see Apollo say that!! ❤❤🙏🙏
There is this lady who owned an African Gray...His name was N'Kizi...he could handle 250 words...Not that is a smart bir😂. As I know of some people who lack or don't like to even speak 50words as it just too tiring in doing so...😊😅😂.
So I dropped by his house to meet the bird, and I asked it, "Polly want a cracker?" The bird looked at me for a moment, then said, "We do not tolerate such derogitory language in this household."
We can't forget that the word 'parrot' means 'to mimic'. This makes them very fun to train, but also, unfortunately or not, they mimic our everyday lives. Listening in and watching us as any pet would. Except these pets can talk!! It must be very interesting for owners to make sure they aren't accidentally teaching their birds to talk about things they don't want other people to hear! lol So very much like raising a toddler!
APOLLO, MY MAIN PARROT!!! Your now an INTERNATIONAL PARROT OF MYSTERY! Congratulations, buddy! Just don't forget us folks here your home country that have had your back from the beginning! Kudos to D and T for being the awsome bird parental units they are!!!😊
Don’t be a dolt. If you don’t teach a parrot specific words, they will teach themselves whatever words pique their interest. They parrot the sounds they hear whether they are taught to or not. And what exactly is “being a parrot”? Look up the verb parrot lol.
