You cooked with this one, for now on I will hope for this on every single Nintendo Direct, and then get pissed when it doesn't show up. Can't wait for the 25th mediocre MK8 DLC pack that does nothing to shake up or make the overall experience more fun.
I love this idea! I’ve heard lots of people talk about Smash Kart or making Mario Kart “Nintendo Kart” instead, and it’s never quite gelled with me. I really really like this take though, it’s super unique and I think it’s the perfect in-between for Smash and a kart racer!
Notes: 1. I'm glad that you specifically mentioned the argument of "Smash-Kart Vs. Mario Kart." I would love a smash kart, but it would mean that I wouldn't be able to play as obscure characters in the Mario series such as King Bob-Omb, Petey Pirahna, and Wiggler. 2. Great Roster choice. I don't have as wide of a variety of games I've played, so I wouldn't have thought of the characters you did. I would 100% choose the water wraith from Pikmin 2 (Bruh) because it's just hilarious. I'm also glad you chose Tom Nook instead of Villager, because I think he fits better for Animal Crossing Representation, alongside Isabelle, of course. 3. Continuing the roster, I'm glad, albeit unsurprised, that you chose what I'd call "Indie Nintendo Characters." These being Dillon, Chibi Robo, Excitebots Frog (My Personal Favorite), F-Type, and Arms characters. 4. Cool story mode, Bro. Separate Game Pitch Time: Smash Bros. Game that plays exactly the same as Ultimate, but only includes Mario characters. This allows previously forgotten characters ([Cough] King Bob-Omb [Cough]) to become playable characters. But wait, there's more! A Legend of Zelda Game, a Donkey Kong, a Kirby, a Splatoon, a Metroid one, a Wii, Gamecube, Ds, and Wii U one (for characters like Chibi-Robo, Excitebots, Dillon, Monita) and a retro-themed Nes/Snes one! And, if you buy multiple games, you can play as the characters from each game at the same time. Not super likely, probably too much work for Nintendo, and too much money on the customers side, but it would be nice for more niche characters like King Bob-Omb, Marx, Magolor, and Sylux to be realized into characters. I'm a big fan of weirdo characters like Mr. Game & Watch, R.O.B., and Piranha Plant, so it would be cool to see more of them in a variety of Smash Bros. Games.
I honestly would love to see smash bros as a pokemon rumble type game where it's a pokemon rumble like game with chibi toys, less detail heavy and more plastic and cute looking, no need for jumping or recovering, and you can fight enemies from other games to gain power, you can gain more toys in different colors, new mii-Gician class added too. You can battle each other in matches and work together in raids and have fun with chilling with the toys like interacting like poke-amour in X and Y. This would be fun and give some customizability of moves, from DK punching to throwing barrels, it will give more of a safe "No need to learn everything about this fighting game" way to enjoy character. The chibi aspect will make it easier to add more too
I feel like the waterwraith’s ranged attacks should be the cubes that the plasm wraith spits out. They’re no good for direct attacks, but they provide good zoning creating big damage fields like they do in Pikmin 3. This is ideal for a character who’s whole purpose is chasing and crushing. Hazards and things that slow you down is also the big idea of the submerged castle and formidable oak. Since both areas are a race against the wraiths. Also any Pikmin stage absolutely has to have an arachnorb type enemy as the hazard stomping around the arena or maybe even a quaggled mireclops that you can drive on.
Olimar needs to ride Oatchi or Moss! Also, if Louie is DLC, he can ride a Titan Dweevil (or just a normal dweevil lol) Edit: just saw where Olimar rides Oatchi. Good on ya Sock!
I really dig this idea. The idea of Nintendo Twisted Metal is great. The ironic thing is, if it were super successful, maybe Sony would revive Twisted Metal. I never even thought about this and I'm glad you made this video because this was very unique and well thought out. I also really liked your idea for the story.
I've always asked my self this simple question...why does Super Smash Bros need to be THE only crossover title? (well for starters fighting games make that concept easier) You could do a racer, an adventure game...maybe an RPG? 👀
I’ve had a similar idea for SEGA properties (that’s probably been proposed before) where they the Sonic Riders gameplay and make it the SEGA racing game that can stand on its own legs. The added visual elements you gave the characters reminded me of the Sonic Riders series, which is why I brought this up. Really cool concept though, especially liked how you interpreted DK.
Here's an idea: Mario Kart:All Stars. It's basically the idea of Nintendo Kart... but still with the Mario Kart name... we aren't abandoning Mario Kart, just adapting it!
Hear me out, Chibi-Robo as a tricky spaceship chatacter. Riding on the ship from zip lash, just on top of it. The gimmick? He doesn’t have a projectile, but basically a sort of grapple, where he plugs into the enemy’s vehicle and gets dragged around for a bit, slowly pulling closer. Either A. They slow down a ton, B. Chibi gets thrown off, or C. Chibi catches up faster than they could drive. Would be fun I think.
Lovely concept and lovely video. My only nitpick is one major lore inaccuracy-Galeem isn’t a source Master Hands (Of which there has only ever been one, same guy since Smash 64) his army is almost entirely puppet fighter clones minus the true one. (The false hands are weaker and explode upon being defeated, just like the puppet fighters he summons in his boss fights)
YOU'RE RIGHT but overarching "spirit" theme is largely the same I feel. I can't believe I forgot that this game let us play as Master Hand at the end haha. It's been too long since I've played apparently...
Please. I BEG of you. STOP tormenting me with these incredible ideas that will never actually get produced. Seriously though, fantastic video, down to the hype as hell reveal trailer. Also, I'd be a Dillon main for life.
Wait, I thought all the R.O.B.s were dead... To continue being "That Guy:" I hate that you're right about Ashley being chosen over Mona and Syrup for merch reasons. Microsoft actually owns Taj last I checked. Sky Skipper is in a Mike Jones situation where you'll be pressed if even Sakurai remembers he happened. I see what you did with the 3 bikers, but Doc without Mac just feels wrong. How the hell does "Chrom + Lucina" work? Really, Marth and Caeda would have made more sense, and been cuter. Pico instead of Samurai Gordo or Black Shadow?... weird flex but aight. I still say the car in the Mario RPG box is a Stunt Race car, no matter how much GameXplain complains. I don't know the names because I refuse to play that glitchy mess, but isn't Pokemon 9 all about a time-traveling dinosaur motorcycle? Seems like an obvious pick to me. Certainly more than the 3 way legal cluster-fuck (Nintendo, Bandai, the ghost of skip) that is the unfortunate Chibi-Robo. Thank you for including Andy though.... even if the Wars fandom would prefer Sami. Kinda lost on the Wii Fit Trainer though. Wouldn't Ring and Trainee make more sense because of all the distance running? Shouldn't the ExciteFrog be up by the original Biker? Dillon is another unfortunate legal question mark now that Vanpool is gone, but most of it's creative staff are at HAL. We stan DJ Octavio, and I'm sure the crew at Vitei appreciate the shout-out to their children of Steel Diver 3: Tank Troopers, but I gotta end with a question mark on the ARMS choices of Mechanica and Kid Cobra. I mean, I get that they're the "vehicle fighters" of ARMS to begin with, but my villain bias is telling me "You don't need Kid Cobra. You can put in Coyle with Headlock and not lose anything." And finally, how is there no Xenoblade rep in this roster! Sure the Junks and Feronisis of the main trilogy would be even more of a question mark than Ridley, but Elma and the Formula Skell are RIGHT THERE! You're the Custom-Robo guy. How'd you miss the chance to put a giant freakin' robot on the cover?!
I appreciate your lunacy. Tbch, I came up with the vehicle classes first and added characters after. I could make a video going over my thought process behind each character, but I came up with it nearly a year ago, plus it's secondary to the concept of the game as whole anyway lol
Alright sock, give me the projectile for Dr. Kawashima's brain training. Great video, it would definitely be interesting to see how Nintendo uses the Smash IP in new ways from here on out.
I feel that taking over one of Mario's less successful spinoffs would be good for smash bros. Super Mario Baseball seems like the best choice because then you can use 9 characters in a massive roster every match. Kracko with a Baseball bat sounds way more interesting than just putting Kirby in a Go Kart.
I am in love with this idea! Everything just fits so perfectly! Plus imagine all the potential for stage ideas... You have no idea how many neurons activated at 4:41 😂 Glad to know you're a weird Al fan Sock!
Loved the concept, although i would wish there was a traditional racing mode, even if the battle mode is the main one for the game, as well as Donkey Kong having the Barrels from DK Barrel Blast, Kirby would have either the Dragoon or Warp Star, Right? i love the concept of characters using different vehicles in a racing game, so i love this idea, and Mario having Yoshi maybe with the fruits from Mario Sunshine turning Hazards into plataforms, Link with Epona, etc... is just so cool.
Well, this is an interesting take on a Smash Bros Kart game, even if the game isn't much of a kart racer. I'm curious how your take on a Blazblue-like Smash Bros game or Smash Bros. RPG would be like.
