D'arcy, had such an ability to harmonize with Billy. I have a spot in my heart for her. She is what is missing from the reformed band. I hope her the best and am grateful for the time she spent with the Pumpkins. I honestly don't think as much of the early sound would have been the same. It's subtle but she is there.
You had to make that comment about her being a junkie how many times now? Who cares. You got some serious problems. Btw Billy only did the bass on gish and SD but he also did James parts so I guess he's a bad musician too? Billy did the parts because he's Billy Corgan, not because James and darcy were that bad. Darcy sounded good on any live version I've seen and she was a huge part of the band.
I'm 64 and a black man the first time I heard this i loved it.....but didn't know the name of the group and song. Not long after they did a show Atlanta 3 blocks from my house. I saw the posters but still didn't know their names. When I finally knew the names.....I was kicking myself in the ass every since then!
@@georgial6398 .. Numbskull. I didn't say anything other than they still perform the song this way, meaning acoustic, and that it sounded great when I saw them recently. Eat my shorts.
wonder how many are fans because we was young dudes with crush on her, hell I still have one , ive always strongly disliked Billy but still always listened to them I guess why I was wondering not sure myself
I mean, how did we make it out of the 90's without knowing everything about folks' sexual leanings like MTV devotes its time to today? Who knew that millenials would come along to point out how horrible we were
damn - it takes me back just hearing Darcy's awesome essential harmonies and chorusing when she does the high octave with Billy perfectly. Such a missing element - I never knew they did a kind of "unplugged" performance like this, now I want a whole album. It lets the songs shine for sure
Incredible live performance. Stripped down and intimate. only they could’ve pulled this off acoustically. Billy and D’arcy’s voices complimented each other so beautifully. So powerful, fragile and transcendent. This band will always be special.
@@rickjohnson8707 Yes, it's a pity you couldn't SEE it. As usual, whoever makes these videos is an idiot, and whenever she was singing harmony they didn't show her. Same as Joe Satriani videos, whenever he's playing the lead, they cut to the drummer or something stupid. Also, Billy's guitar lead was too soft to hear. Even so, this was a treat to see and hear. 🙂
Ha...I just commented above that this is when I realized he was playing that riff in octaves. I felt silly not hearing it on the record at first, but it was a flashbulb moment for me as a guitarist. I never missed another octave riff from then on.
Camera operator is awesome for that. He plays this a bit different here so it's nice to have visuals for reverse engineering the acoustic solo in particular.
@@RadioactiveSince1990x Yeah but he sucks for not showing Darcy's harmonies, I wanted to see that but he always was on someone else when she was singing.
@Mike Russo ...look closer, Billy's teeth are perfect, vampire white. Sexy. And everything else he is,was, will be is perfect. Talent beyond this earth and gorgeous teeth thru which he sings.
Why I would ever doubt the mighty Smashing Pumpkins is beyond me. I was like their is no way the do this song acoustic but they dot it and not only do they do it but they absolutely Destroy! Those fast sliding octaves are super hard on acoustics but then again they do it perfectly and that’s the guitar part that makes this such a special song!!
I work out to this every morning. Amazing what clarity you get when increased oxygen is flowing into your brain. We are truly trapped in an existence that screams “Let me out.”
"You can really appreciate just how good..." all of them are. No fake crap. Play the hell outa what you got, keep tone, stay on key, and you have something special. And write your own music!!!
Crazy how Billy was the only one the engineers & producers allowed to record in the studio for the Siamese Dream sessions. This video is proof that they're all incredible musicians.
@@thefelrider Yes I should have said Jimmy and Billy. That was my mistake and I totally forgot that Jimmy was definitely drumming on the sessions as well!
Weird to think this was not long before the internet and Napster changed so much. Enjoy being reminded of this time in music. Long live the Smashing Pumpkins music.
Years ago was sat in a street cafe in Cannes and they were playing a bootleg album of Smashing Pumpkins but all the tracks were acoustic. It was amazing. Any rock song that sounds amazing when acoustic is a sure fire hit. Wish I had that bootleg. Or better still wish Smashing Pumpkins released an official acoustic album.
Damn I m glad Jimmy got his demons in check and Hes been clean for a while now. As a kid he was one of the drummers I was idolizing as a kid drummer myself starting out in 93 94 with my first kit 11 years old. When MCIS double album came out cpl years later that was the height of my 90s grunge music phase and ive never heard ANYTHING like Corgan and these guys on that album. Well ahead of their time. I can only imagine how much more theyd do if they hadnt taken their hiatuses and eventually breaking up the first time. Still after all these years, and maybe its just me, for an internationally mega band like SP, I feel like they dont get their complete due.
I’ve just paused this video, just to say I remember this presenter (Ray someone or other) and he was a monumental bell end. Now that’s off my chest, let’s crack on with a great tune
There actually kind of is of you search it out. I used to have a bunch of SP acoustic versions including Cherub Rock all together back in the days before mp3s. No idea where they are though but they do exist!
